Blu-ray.com Exclusive: Blu-ray Player Benchmarks

user posted image
*Table by aiman04

user posted image
*Chart by Y3k Bug

Power on time:
Measures the time the player takes, in seconds, to power on from the remote control and to convey that it is ready to work via the HDTV display. The lower the number the better.

Disc Eject Time:
This test measures the amount of time it takes, in seconds, for a player to fully eject the disc tray while playing a Blu-ray movie. The lower the number the better.

Movie Load Time – Basic:
Measures the amount of time, in seconds, that a player takes to load a film, encoded without Java or BD+, from the time the disc tray starts closing to the time that content appears on the screen. BD drive speed can impact this number. The lower the number the better.

Movie Load Time - BD-J:
Measures the amount of time a player takes, in seconds, to load a film, encoded with BD-Java, from the time the disc tray starts closing to the time that content appears on the screen. BD drive speed can impact this number. The lower the number the better.

Movie Load Time – BD+:
Measures the amount of time a player takes, in seconds, to load a film, encoded with BD+ copy protection, from the time the disc tray starts closing to the time that content appears on the screen. BD drive speed can impact this number. The lower the number the better.

BD-J Overall Performance:
This measurement calculates the player's overall ability to efficiently execute BD-Java content. This will affect the player's smoothness of menus, games, and other features using BD-J. Some players will not execute this benchmark and are marked with a red “NO” in the performance section. A "NO" rating does not indicate poor performance, but simply that the player in question does not support the form of media that the test disc is recorded on. The higher the number the better.

The following tests measure player's BD-Java graphics abilities. These numbers show how efficient the player will be at loading and navigating menus as well as Java based games.

BD-J Small Object Performance:
Measures smoothness and speed of small Java graphic objects – the higher the number the better.

BD-J Large Object Performance:
Measures smoothness and speed of larger Java graphic objects - the higher the number the better.

BD-J Scaling Performance:
This test measures the player's ability to scale Java graphics for BD menus and games. The higher the number the better.

BD-J Opacity Performance:
This measurement calculates the player's ability to render graphics that are opaque. The higher the number the better.

That price is for UK/EU residents with 17.5% VAT. Our price is even more cheaper, at only £7.64. Plus Royal Airmail shipping £3.58 = £11.22 = RM61.15. If order more can further save the shipping cost.

QUOTE(Sd-RawK-Cab25 @ Nov 27 2008, 11:48 PM)
okay, just finished watching TDK, so here's my review:
Movie: This one should be simple enough. For those who have seen this at the movies, it's a no brainer. I still say this is one of the best (if not the ONLY) adaptation of a comic book hero. Basically, it's Batman if it happens in our REAL world. And it don't come any real than the world envisioned by Nolan. The story in TDK is much stronger as a follow up to Batman Begins, and it has Batman's No. 1 enemy in it, which also turned out to be the BEST character played by the late Heath Ledger, and hands-down the BEST representation of The Joker since Cesar Romero and Jack Nicholson. This isn't your Fantastic Four-like adaptation. No, no...it's a god-damn crime thriller on its own. Rating: 6/5...although it's not logical, but hell...it's just a bloody good movie
PQ: With great story reputation, comes great PQ. Warner delivers TDK with the exact PQ which was expected. I know it may be unfair to compare the PQ to the one in the cinema, but I must say...watching TDK on Blu does really make a BIG difference. The colors are never subdued OR oversaturated. As TDK has different tones (orange-brown for the night scenes and bluish for the Gotham day scenes), it all just pops out nicely. I really can't comment more on the PQ as it's just as good as any current blockbuster blu-ray title. It's clean, crisp and hell...even the yellow in Joker's teeth is clear. It just makes his teeth closer to your face. You can practically imagine the smell that comes with it. One thing to note, as some of us are aware, TDK will have shifting ratios. Particularly for the IMAX scenes. It really doesn't take you out of the movie flow (which I thought will happen), and true enough..whenever the IMAX scenes play...you get that feeling of the large screen. I love it that the whole Joker truck flip scene is in IMAX format, as is with all the cityscape shots. Overall, 5/5.

AQ: Dolby TrueHD. Same as Batman Begins? Not really. It's better this time around. You probably won't get to enjoy the fullness of the bass thumps at the beginning, but towards the middle part of the movie till the end...each explosion, crash, gunshot, punch, kick just thumps with awesome intensity. The earlier part, where there's a lot of dialogue happening, you may not hear the impact of the lossless audio. They somehow didn't use much of the surrounds throughout the movie, but there are occasional enveloping sounds. However, 99% of the time, dialogue is crisp and clear. The haunting soundtrack is played clearly on the fronts, and it really heightens the emotions in the movie. Only one thing to note: TDK is also set the same as other Warner titles - movie starts automatically and the default audio is Dolby Digital. So you need to set it to Dolby TrueHD at the start of the movie. Other than that, it's awesome. 5/5.

I haven't checked the supplements, but i'm sure it's going to be awesome as well.

A must-buy, no-brainer!!  rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif

must put this on amazon customer reviews... laugh.gif

But I get a $5 goodwill store credit after I complained. whistling.gif

I can see it now, if they didn't remove the refund policy they will be doing refunds to customers almost everyday. The prices are fluctuating almost everyday now, unlike before it takes a few weeks.
