Asus announced their latest business PDA phone - the P565. It sports the fastest CPU in the class - the 800 MHz Marvell TavorP and comes with the company's latest touch-driven interface - the Glide. In addition it brings in quite a number of multimedia features, adding up to quite a powerful package.

Asus P565 comes with a 2.8" VGA screen and features tri-band (900/1800/1900) GSM/GPRS/EDGE support. It also has 3G with HSDPA and Wi-Fi to ensure the faster data transfers where the infrastructure allows it.

The fully touchscreen-operated Asus P565 also sports GPS, microSD card slot and a 3MP auto focus camera. The usual suspects - Bluetooth v2.0 and USB are also on-board. There is 128MB of RAM to deal with the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional OS needs.
Unfortunately, there is no information about the availability or the pricing of Asus P565 yet.

Unfortunately this will takes too long to come out just like P552W aka Glide nod.gif

honestly I dont care how it look as long it has VGA and affordable like Eten , what matters is what you see ie the screen clarity and stabilty. the 128RAM is too close for comfort but I thinks its okay.

ASUS Introduces Fastest Business PDA Phone in the World

800 MHz Processor-equipped ASUS P565 Glides through Resource-intensive Tasks with Effortless Ease and Style

Taipei, Taiwan, November 14, 2008 – ASUS today introduced the ASUS P565, a business PDA phone that boasts an 800 MHz processor—the fastest in the world at the time of this announcement. Featuring ASUS’ latest touch-driven user interface—Glide—the stylish, leather-accented P565 delivers graphics and system performance beyond anything else on the market at present, posting Vsbenchmark scores almost two times that of competing products in its class. This enables the P565 to glide through resource-intensive tasks effortlessly and to handle heavy multitasking exceptionally well—making it ideal for businesspeople who demand uncompromising performance and maximum speed from their productivity tools. Rounding off its impressive feature set is a 2.8" touchscreen running at a high resolution of 480 x 640 pixels, delivering an unprecedented degree of clarity that does wonders for both personal photographs and spreadsheets.

Gliding to New Heights of Productivity
The ASUS P565 is geared toward the business community. The coupling of an 800 MHz processor and Glide—an innovative touch-responsive user interface exclusive to select ASUS PDA phones—makes for a powerful, productivity-boosting combination. The fast processor renders the P565 particularly amenable to multitasking, while Glide enables users to switch between tasks rapidly with their fingertips. The P565 also comes with a potent suite of business-oriented features and software, including push mail, business card recognition and Microsoft Office Mobile. Other useful applications such as Anytime Launcher and Multi-Home enable users to view their calendars, the times of local and visiting cities, weather reports, online news and much more—all with an intuitive tap, slide or flick of their fingers.

Unprecedented Clarity with High-resolution Touchscreen
The ASUS P565 is equipped with a 2.8" VGA (480 by 640 pixels) high-resolution touchscreen that delivers unprecedented clarity and brilliance. Photographs look crisper and more true-to-life, while minute details in business documents, such as the individual cells in spreadsheets, are reproduced much more clearly—reducing eye fatigue over periods of prolonged use.

Air of Bespoke Exclusivity
The ASUS P565 is designed to leave a deep and lasting impression. Its battery lid is lined with black synthetic leather, commanding instant respect and attention. The leather contrasts nicely with the P565’s modern, high-gloss face, and lends the phone a natural tactility and evocative appeal that elevates it far above other phones on the market.

About Glide
Glide is a revolutionary touch-responsive user interface that enables users to perform a variety of navigational actions—such as selecting, zooming, scrolling and flipping—easily through simple flicks of their fingers. Incorporated into Glide are also applications that enable users to access a wide range of functions such as looking up the latest news, checking the weather forecast, viewing photo slideshows and listening to music within a few finger taps. These applications, dubbed Multi-Home, Anytime Launcher, EziPhoto, and EziMusic, give the expression "the world at your fingertips" a whole new meaning. For more information on Glide, visit http://event.asus.com/mobile/glide/.

It looks as if it provides everything that a hardcore PDA user needs except for RAM size. Should have made it 192MB or 256MB. Then you can literally run anything on it, probably counter-strike too.

Asus tend to be stingy in providing more RAM module. Their current models are still 64MB.

old newspaper,
great finding dude smile.gif
This is a great highlight for HTC to polish especially the video driver issues. Although Diamond (and similar variant )has Qualcomm underpowered GPU.

Anyway... some people didnt use special program like touch flo or spb mobile shell thing. What matter is hardware software and driver stability. Battery is another stories

lol suddenly become flamer zone rolleyes.gif

But the fact is HTC still NOT utilize both 2d and 3d Qualcomm accelerator with the operating system (WM). It maybe a small matter for HTC, but really does matter with US to integrate the system. It would affect how fast both 2d sprites and 3d graphics draw on screen, so it wont lag like texture bleeding when you scroll contents like browsing, GPS and 2d games.

The mHz game has a down side tough.. battery capacity needs to increase proportionately.. by that time.. perhaps better bang for the $$ is eeePC ?

Usually is one year warranty but extend another year for u. And if u dont want the gifts can discount for u lor. Beside, it has built in wifi and GPS. Then 800megahertz processor. The dealer told me tat it is the fastest processor in the market. This model juz launched not long ago as i know

bought my P565 last week KL PC fair with price RM2199, free extended warranty 1 year+bluetooth+cheap screen protector+extra 1 car holder.

so far very satified with the performance, no lagging when multitasking eg. MSN+listen mp3+opera mobile at the same time.
very fast repsond in gps naviagting use garmin xt. when open the \\windows folder, no waiting time.
vga screen -->super clear compare to my previous qvga device.
sound -->quality is very nice but the speaker at the backside,so sometime i will miss the call.

heating issue no so serious while doing 2 hours gps navigation for me.
battery consumption--->can last for 1.5 days for me, if do sms plus few calling;for me the battery is drain fast.
camera quality:3mp--> much better than my previous lg ks20 quality. if got time will upload image.
for the backside leather,my 1 is black colour for the leather. the SA never tell me got brown+black stripe and i also never ask.

yep just bought this PDA on pc fair. so far for my oppinion this is my first PDA before that use n80. as other ppl said it no lagging if using multitasking...smooth move...all perfect.

disadvantage is....speaker not to loud...cant hear ringtone if u put cover because speaker is backside....so always miss call and unread message... if u far from phone not like other phone...so loud. and other problem is with windows mobile main memory to small....so if u want to customize ur ringtone or message tone u need to copy mp3 to main memory which only support around 89mb only.... i know all program u can install to memory card which 4gb or else....

The 256MB is the internal ROM, a storage for essential program. While the 128MB you referring is the RAM for application access. You can extend storage (ROM) using memory card

most pda phone has 2 storages, one internal, and one external (eg: too many to list down tongue.gif ).. but some has 2 storages consist of only internal memory (eg: touch diamond - 128mb + 4gb), while some like in an exceptional case has 3 storages, 2x internal + 1 external ( omnia - 128mb + 8gb / 16gb + <micros SD>)

ram normally between 128mb to 2xx mb normally known as device memory

external is ur memory card normally known as storage card

for omnia, the internal 8gb or 16gb is called my storage

iphone is a different type of phone...

Just like what irenic said.

And it would be a waste of RAM memory if a PDA would have that much RAM. Applications in PPCs are only taking up very little memory. Even 1GB would be a lil overkil for now. smile.gif

T*Omnia already released in korea last month sporting the same 806mhz.
Specs n features much better then P565.
Pricing the P565 above rm2k will just kill off the product.

i like the design tho,but eventho it looks like a lil bit outdated, but there's one more thing that this p565's should enhance, the screen, because the size screen is just too small for me.and the rest ,about the functions and all,it sounds cool, but still asus is not my cup of tea.

Bought the phone last week. So far it only the screen 2.8inch is small for sms. Video call is not that good as my old Nokia 5320. Battery life so far OK for me can go up to 1.5 day with GPSx1, sms and call+ abit wifi but charging time is long, planning to get extended battery.

Got it Brand new rm1499 from lelong .com with one year warranty+4GB memory+car charger+ car kit for GPS

It able to installed SPD 3.5. A bit issue with the sound coz the ring is damn soft. Loud speaker also soft.

For all i can rate this phone 3.5/5

Planning to change to P835 anyone have contact wanna trade this phone with that phone
