Anyone have experienced burned proccessor due to overclocking but still under a safe temperature and vcore?
And burned proccessor can successfully RMA?

As long as the CPU died within specs of the datasheet, the RMA will be accepted, unless there is physical burns, damage, pin broken etc etc

QUOTE(k!nex @ Nov 16 2008, 06:15 PM) That's because they set the VTT too high.. QUOTE However, in order to get to that point on this particular board, we (Editor- Raja in case the police get involved) made the mistake of using a very high VTT termination voltage of 1.51V (VTT is used to terminate data lines between the MCH and CPU). |

Actually i wanna ask more about the experience.I plan wanted to overclock my proccessor for 24 hour use. 2.5Ghz -> 3.6Ghz ( 1.200Vcore -> 1.3125 Vcore ). I worried this o/c will cause my proc died before my next upgrade due to long term o/c.
BTW if burned internally , can they found out we did o/c to the proccessor since it have no memory inside? ( If no sign of physically burned ) |

If you are not careful it can happen. That is why it is a good idea not to let the Voltage settings to auto in the BIOS.
The FSB VTT, VCore are the most important |

I've an old Athlon 1800+ which i OC sampai burnt AND MELTED. No kidding. Part of the chip melted already. Partly also my fault coz i put a low speed FAN which is queit but obviously can't take the heat...LOL. Anyway, it was due time to upgrade then. No worries.

Non of my processor die from extensive oc,like 1.7xvcore and still alive and kicking ass, well, depend on do you define a bad chip as kicking ass
As long as no physical damage, you could rma it without hassle |

from pentium 3 coppermine-> pentium 4 northwood C-> core 2 quad, so far never killed a proc.
but it was just minor OC. the P4 used 1.6Volts(original 1.525) 24/7 throughout its lifetime and its never off abt 1 year coz botting online games.after 5 years++ of usage den i change to C2Q, the p4 chip still functioning just its obsolete for current games. |

I just got a C2D processor from this forum which have few darken color contact pads but still can run. Is that the burn mark?
