nobody really knew what underneath the LHC...
The chapel is too old to make it valid that what underneath it is the victim of arthas butchery at Stratholme. there are also a speculated theory (lolore?) that what underneath it is a Naaru. Since Arthas wouldnt be so freak out if what underneath it is his polar opposite (light as him to darkness). |

yes he knew that there are something underneath the chapel that transform the are into holy ground, and send scourge of Dk's and Mograine as pawn.
remember The Ashbringer plays an important role in this quest, and how merely the corrupted one is changed into The Ashbringer when switch hand from mograine to Fordging, its the work of what underneath the Chapel that cleansed The Ashbringer back to its original state... |

okay... just think of it this way...
there are certain element which cancel the other, in this case its light which cancel darkness. The Ashbringer actually refer to the blade and a person, try searching about Ashbringer on wowwiki, read some lore on it. Ashbringer is said to the counterpart of Frostmourne. When both of these collides, its cancel each other out. But its just the sword, Fordging is nowhere near as powerful as Arthas, even if Ashbringer did cancel out Frostmourne, in 1v1 combat. Arthas might still won. But the holy ground (LHC) has somehow weaken Arthas to a state of Fordging might gain some edge over him, thats why he flee. in WC3, when Illidan confronted Arthas, Illidan was defeated like a piece of useless sponge cake, both of them might have the same strength and power but Frostmourne make Arthas gain edge as blade of azzinoth is a weak blade of shadow/darkness entities. |

QUOTE(Yue @ Nov 16 2008, 01:20 AM) both of them might have the same strength and power but Frostmourne make Arthas gain edge as blade of azzinoth is a weak blade of shadow/darkness entities. So it clearly shows that gear > skill amirite? |

Illidan didn't learn from Anakin Skywalker (From episode 3)
Whatever you do in combat, do not FREAKING JUMP like a girl when your opponent has the ground advantage. |
