God I splurged!
Got myself Monopoly Here and Now, Rolando, Hero of Sparta, Ferrari GT Evolution, Sim City, and Real Soccer 09. Also bought the season pass for Lost Season 5, so I'm ready on that front. After Family Guy and Heroes wrapped up their seasons (7 for FG, 3 for Heroes ), cant wait for Lost to start! The best among those newly bought games? ROLANDO! |

Rolando is good except the time limit. I really hate games with time limit. Make my hand sweat.
About 3D games on iPod Touch, some games like Brother of Arms: Hour of Darkness and Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D really suffer low frame rate issues that really spoil the game experience. Surprisingly, Asphalt 4: Elite Racing and Enigmo are the only games I had purchased and really satisfied as they only suffer a minor or unnoticeable lagging issue. However, 2D platform games like Fieldrunners and Kamicrazy really great rendered in the iPod Touch 3.5' LCD. Gameplay is smooth and is definitely worth trying and purchase. Currently the game suffer from poor frame rate at the later of the game which could make the game unplayable. You won't be noticing at the early of the game though. Unless they come out with an update that fixes such issue, don't even bother trying this game.Just some summary I made from review site. I really do like these tower building game after purchasing Scoops for $0.99 yesterday. Fun and relaxing game. Did i mention the cute graphic too? It's just so beautiful to watch.Added on December 18, 2008, 9:19 amApple News | SimCity for iPhone Released oww.. finally it released..! This post has been edited by D.Sync: Dec 20 2008, 10:53 AM |

Another impulse buy, X-Plane Airliner. Wasn't really gonna put much expectation on it, but HOLY FREAKING HELL, it blew my brains out! From someone who drive these buses as a living, this is as close it gets, without going into the technicalities of flying and aviation jargons like TACAN, DVOR or RNAVs, to flying the super jet airliners. Get behind the 777 now!

QUOTE(CooLeRthings @ Dec 20 2008, 08:44 PM) ala, abang string ni dah poison me about rolando... Trust me, you won't regret it. Rolando is what Loco Roco should be. The premise, the background story and the fact that I don't give a damn what funny looks u get while playing this, twirling the iPhone around to move the Rolandos around the stage, means this is an instant HIT! think i gonna buy later tonight! geeez this week spend more than 100 on games dy T_T Worship the Finger! *you'll get what this phrase means when you play the game* |

I doubt it, at this point in time, that they would drop the price. Rolando is slated for Christmas release, to take advantage of the season shopping. Also notice that Topple and other Ngmoco titles dropped price during release of Rolando, because Ngmoco KNOWS that Rolando can carry them through the winter/Christmas season sale, and that they can afford dropping price for other apps,*even giving them out for free in the case of Topple, because they are confident that Rolando will cover for those discounted price with its full retail pricetag. Also notice the trend of apps being discounted are those that hardly sell, forcing the developers of these apps to forgo their profit margin.
Trust me, Rolando is worth the current price. Believe it or not, this game is the first game that gives out that feeling that it is Made for iPhone/iPod Touch in mind, and not just a lazy port. Level design, game content and presentation is extremely polished. This post has been edited by stringfellow: Dec 20 2008, 11:52 PM |

Scrabble and iBeer are good example of app that are only sold exclusively in US and Canada.
Malaysia still prohibit alcoholic stuff. Isn't it our right to choose? Take iBeer for example, it's just a virtual beer. This post has been edited by D.Sync: Dec 21 2008, 04:14 PM |

Does anyone like games developed by GameLoft? In my personal humble opinion, most of the game which they developed have descent (not great) looking 3D graphic but they do suffer from poor frame rate. I don't think iPod Touch graphic engine is meant to carry such performance. I think I won't be purchasing any games from GameLoft in the future...
Among the games by GameLoft which I had purchased and feeling regret: - Asphalt 4: Elite Racing (it's really all about drifting, not a pure racing car game) - Brother of Arms: Hour of Darkness (drain up battery power real fast and suffer from poor frame rate, it's not so smooth for a FPS game) - Midnight Pool (They tried to port it but the graphic seems to be poor. I do prefer 2D graphic that utilizes cell-shading technique. Sadly they isn't any cell-shaded pool game yet) So far I think cell-shaded game really shines in the iPod Touch 3.5' LCD. Not only does the graphic is smooth but you can save battery time too. Below are some good example which I had purchased that is worth buying: 2D - Fieldrunners ($4.99) - Chopper - Scrabble ($4.99) - 3D Sokoban ($0.99) - Scoops ($1.99) - XiangQi ($0.99) - Touch Physics ($0.99) - Labyrinth ($6.99) (Great purchase among all!) - Hangman2 ($0.99) (Clean user interface) - Loops of Zen ($1.99) 3D - Enigmo - Monopoly: Here and Now World Edition ($7.99) - Flick Fishing ($0.99) - Flick Bowling ($0.99) (*Cell-shaded characters) (Really hope they can implement player statistic option to keep track on our performances). So far they only have Record option that only record the highest score for the players. Customizable characters, location and outfit would be a plus too, but sadly they didn't implement it. Midnight Bowling does offer such features but the price is kind of expensive and the loading time is very long compared to Flick Bowling. Graphic wise, Flick Bowling does offer clean and nice looking sensation.) - Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D ($5.99) (Frame rate dropped in certain scene but it is still acceptable. Accelerometer sensitivity is customizable and is very fun to try) This post has been edited by D.Sync: Dec 21 2008, 04:31 PM |
