Sad to say... many laptops got stolen because the owner themselves are careless. Do they think it is safe to keep one in the car? Do they know that their movements are being monitored by outsiders from depatch riders to cleaners?
Sometimes, even local council officers are working together with thieves to earn some quick commission.
Myself always carry my laptop everywhere... even to the toilet. Never once left in the car. Luckily for me, it is just an old Kohjinsha SH6 and it is small enough to lug around.
Forget laptop detectors as such devices doesn't exist. In fact, cops are making up stories just to avoid investigating. Lamers!
If you plan on travelling, get a small laptop such as the Asus EEEPC901 and remember to take it out. It doesn't matter if you drive a Proton Saga or Lexus LS400. Thieves will strike if given a chance.
Stop them by not keeping any valuable items in the car.
