Ok i thought all Anglers will need this topic so they know what fishing they ought to be doing in WOTLK.

I separate WOTLK into a few parts which are

1. Dalaran ( most of the important fishing ones including a new rare pet is here )

2. Northrend continent fishing ( this is to obtain the fishing achievement for catching fish all over northrend. Also may be related to cooking as you will cook the many fish you will be catching when doing this achievement ).

3. Tuskar exalted reward ( These tuskars as excellent anglers known for fishing up huge fish such as whales ! Gaining exalted reputation with them gives you their extremely useful epic fishing rod with a lot of fish bonus, breathing under water, and a very good weapon ! )




So anyway i think the most interesting fish spot is Dalaran. I read that there is a requirement you need to fulfill before you can gain entry into Dalaran ! For most players you will need to get level 74 or above, and complete the quest chain from "The Magical Kingdom of Dalaran".

For Mages, they only need take the quest "Attunement to Dalaran", which is currently available at level 71. If your a mage angler, you got the advantage ( i'm a pally angler )



The waters of Dalaran require 430 effective fishing skill to cast, 525 to stop fish getting away. Be prepared to get fishing lures as they will definately be needed. ( I am currently lv 400 fishing skill with + 25 from my fish equipment. I will still need to use baits. )





There are 3 different areas of open water, each with unique catches.

The Underbelly - The sewers beneath the city contain a lot of water, most of which can be fished. There are 2 ramped entrances to the Underbelly from the surface level of Dalaran (shown on the map), plus a magic well (which will teleport you into the sewers) and a tunnel which can be used by those flying into the city on their own flying mount.

Outside the Violet Hold - The waters in front of Dalaran's prison dungeon, The Violet Hold.

The Eventide Fountain - The fountain next to the fishing trainer, in The Eventide district of the city. As the Bent Fishing Hook prove, this is physically tricky to fish in, because the area of water is very small: Position yourself a few steps back from the edge of the fountain, and most casts will land in the water.


There are no pools in Dalaran: All fish are caught from open water.




brief summary of why to fish in these locations


Underbelly is good to catch the rare giant sewer rat non-combat pet. The catch rate seems on par with Mr Pinchy, however it has a 100% gurantee to get the giant sewer rat pet if you do manage to catch it.

Another reason is the magical eater is a food that can give you buffs if your not a cook. Or you can fish up vials which alchemists use ( not sure how much these vials sell for ). Exploring this area you have the chance to find the Underbelly Elixir which has a chance to turn you into a Tuskar to get more fishing buffs. Unfortunately it only lasts for 10 minutes ...


Outside violet hold - Chance to catch the prison key. It can be used to open Rusted Prisoner's Footlocker which have a chance to find rare loot


And last but not least, the Dalaran Fountain. Catching the coin collection you will get the titanium dalaran seal item which is a coin you can flip. Also you get to know more about the game history for the characters wishes.



Hopefully that gave some insight to our fellow Anglers Start leveling to 74, do the quest, get your fishing skill up so you are able to fish in Dalaran, complete the fish achievements listed above. Most of the WOTLk would then be completed. All you then need to do is go around northrend catching all the fish to get northrend angler achievement, and then work on the tuskar rep for the exalted fishing rod
