Danoek used to be Thailand sleepy town even wayback in Mid 1990 (i still remember it's just a small outpost town wth few wooden shops just after Thai border checkpoint... however M'sia North South Highway that link Bkt Kayu Hitam (Still sleepy till Today!! No progress at all
I dun really stopped in Danoek bcos most of my trip is wth wife & children...but if u are single that town hv lotsa sinful activities..normally u can see lotsa guys from M'sian border crossing over for fast fix b4 returning to M'sia..Its much nearer than Hatyai which is another 45min away. & suprisingly hatyai nowadays is abit tame compare to 15yrs ago..Makan ...no idea..din stop there...normally makan @ hatyai..which is one cut-throat city & prices of food more expensive than KL & bangkok!! Since you are chinese, you should eat the chinese food there cuz its more delicious and cheaper than KL. theres a famous mamak near mahathir's old house which is pretty good and reasonable too. its a peaceful place you know. just walk around and enjoy the non rushing schedule.

Dear people,
Need advice. Taking AK flight to AlorStar tomorrow night, ETA AlorStar 9.30PM. Need assistance on below; 1) What is the taxi rate from Sultan Abdul Halim Airport to Bkt Kayu Hitam? 2) How long does it takes from Sultan Abdul Halim Airport to Bkt Kayu Hitam? 3) If I am not mistaken, immigration closed at midnight, how about transportation from Danok to Hatyai? What time they close & the rate? Cheers! |

QUOTE(Daikatana @ Feb 10 2011, 05:07 PM) once in alor star, all u have to do is eat..eat and eat. Very good summary. I would add D'Perindu or Nelayan Restaurant for fresh ikan bakar for dinner situated along Jln Kuala Kedah.+ nasi kandar yasmeen (in front of Hospital) + nasi lemak royal (@ Kim Bee) - in front of Pekan Rabu. + ikan bakar @ Pumpong - nx to Kedah Medical Center + Mee Abu + Mee Goreng Kamal - nx to Istana Anak Bukit. + Pekan Rabu + RM1 Japanese clothing bundle - on the way to Gunung Keriang. + Padang Besar + Bukit Kayu Hitam / Danok + Sungai Petani + Laksa @ Teluk Kuchai + Kuala Kedah + Langkawi! |

Jln Tanjung Bendahara is the one at the T-junction near to Kolej one is it? I ate it when I was a kid and it's delicious. But since it's so many years already, I'm not sure if it's still that good. Will try that out.
Where is Rose Restaurant? Sounds familiar but can't recall where it is. |

Rung reang is much more isolated, and i think there is no sign board to guide you there.I'm going to Jitra for business trip next week. Just wondering is there any good eateries there?
