yes 8600GT is better than 9400M. I also have a question tho. My 2006 MBP may be dying on me soon so i kinda have my eyes on the entry-level aluminium macbook for now. ive done some research and i got the impression that the 9400M performs better than the 128MB radeon X1600. is this true for games? i know it wont run the latest games, but i only wanna play CS source n UT3 anyway. my PS3 gets to handle the big stuff tongue.gif (cant wait for GT5!)

also, since snow leopard will feature OpenCL (which the 9400M supports on top of CUDA i think), then the new macbook would benefit a lot from snow leopard as compared to my MBP's X1600. the new macbook is also 64-bit compared to my aging Core Duo.

so, aluminium macbook > 2006 macbook pro? anyone agree/disagree? screen size and firewire issues aside of course

Yep!

Was playing Quake 4 (Mac) on my 9600 just now. I know it's an old game, but it's my first time playing any game smoothly at native 1440 x 900 resolution haha! High quality summore (Ultra quality need 512 MB VRAM...i only have 256 so it wont let me)~

Also tested out a little video conversion. 9400 & 9600 got around the same time. but its just around 8 short videos though, not exactly a thorough test mind you ;p

L4D runs smoothly in my 2.8GHz MBP.

FOR my case, I need an active cooling pad whenever I game. Otherwise, my MBP will hit black screen of death.

wow how come until black screen???

im also considering an active cooling pad. probably the one from zalman. any recommedations? or shud i juz buy the cheap china ones?

Uni MBP 2.4ghz, 3gb ddr3, 256mb 9600m GT
Setting: Medium
1024x768 (Recommended)

I tried the burnout PC version. Pretty Cool Graphic.
Have to set into Medium Standard else it will crash to desktop during rushing street.

And it heat up the machine really fast.

Just wondering why there is no QUIT button for the game. I using Alt+F4 to terminate the game instead.

Luckily, the Gameplay will be auto-save just like what we got from PS2.

lol burnout paradise port forgot to put exit button? tongue.gif anyway thx for the burnout review, was thinking of getting it. i guess having to play only at 1024 reso is a bummer sad.gif
