QUOTE(bluffy83 @ Dec 30 2008, 03:33 AM) I have a question guys about using a CC at hotel. I am usually use cash. Pay for deposit first and then after check out they will give us the money back right. My answer may sound a little unfriendly. Bro, even though you pay more for your cc account (unless you intend to close it soon) the extra money still be recognized by the bank and will be used to offset your next statement cycle. Honestly, you are panicking too much and should learn to slowly read the CIMBClicks cc transactions history and compare it with your actual spending.Worry only if a transaction appears which is not yours. Next call CS to dispute it and panic only if they bank insist that transaction is yours (highly unlikely). If can't manage all this then might as well you back to cash mode. |

QUOTE(bluffy83 @ Dec 30 2008, 09:08 AM) My first transaction should be on 21 December. How long it will appear in CIMBClicks? It should be within 3-5 working days. But it depends whether how fast the merchant post the transactions back to the bank, some as fast within 24 hours (especially for petrol stations and certain department stores), some can take up to 1 week or more. I've had transactions which are only posted after 3 months in extreme cases, could be they forgot or lost my transactions and post it when they found it later. I recommend you have a system where you track your actual purchases vs. the posted transactions in your statement. Don't be too quick to throw your slips away for those that did not appear in your statement. These won't happen often but sometimes you might encounter it.ps: Huh, Playstation 3 user ah. Where u buy it Hye? Sony Centre accept Mastercard meh? The last thing you want to do is to dispute a real transactions which you performed (and forgot all about it). For such disputes, the bank may charge you administrative fees and possibly other fees that will make you upset. P/S Got my PS3 during the launch. Paid it using my cc. Yes, Sony Centre accept cc. Added on December 30, 2008, 12:21 pm QUOTE(zenwell @ Dec 30 2008, 11:39 AM) Hi All, For me, I'd perfer to apply it through the booth (agents) setup @ the fairs / shopping malls / etc. At least I can "chat" up the friendly agents. Just wanna check wit u guys usually u how u apply cc? Through DL online forms, fill up and fax back to them together with docs or apply through counters in shopping mall or walk in to bank? For me i apply through booths in shopping mall except for my CIMB cc which my company's account current officer ask me to help her in her cc sales so i just cincai apply one. if I wanna apply online, is it safe and it is easily approved? I don't think it is any different with applying online coz the approval process is still the same as it will be subjected to the same treatment the credit control department of the bank. (Generally the approving authority for cc) Is is merely a self service system where agents are not required and sometimes you are "rewarded" with some freebies (or extra annual fee waivers) when you use the system. Don't forget that you still need to submit the documentations to the bank. I don't mind applying via the agents coz at least they do most of the work. QUOTE(zenwell @ Dec 30 2008, 02:07 PM) But recently I notice that banks do not rent booth in shoppings malls anymore, except for Citibank in Giant which only promotes Giant Citibank card or AEON in JJ stores. Last time there used to be a lot... chasing ppl around the mall. Since this yr I hardly see any. They are still there but maybe selectively as the hit rate for the malls could be lower. (Everyone just chasing possible applicants but not necessarily can get quality applicants) Not sure which malls are you referring to but I'm referring to just MidValley and 1Utama.I personally would stay clear of Aeon JJ cc coz of bad experience. Imagine my payment gone missing and when I provide them with proof of payment, they refuse to recognise it. Had to pay again to safeguard my good credit history and I cancelled the card immediately after the payment was received. Heard the same experience with a few of my friends. I don't tolerate bad CS and this one just sets the record for being the worst of them all. |

QUOTE(vin_ann @ Dec 30 2008, 10:57 PM) but now AEON CC got 2% cash rebate for the Jusco purchases, n also dun know how many times of rewards points. I can get 5% rebate on my Jusco purchases but not using cc lah but a SCB debit card. (No points accumulation but who cares when you can get 5% rebate) I'll refrain myself from talking about this card coz this is a debit card but this is a cc forum. Like I mentioned before, I now use a hybrid cc and debit card combo to achieve best of both worlds and maximise savings whenever possible. Times are bad and can get worse, so better be prepared now.it's going to be more creative. yet the Customer service part, i thinks is handled by the VADS, the outsourced call centre for TM NUt too... tht's why our hye got the peanut when he complain. it's advisable to follow hye's advise! else we will be the monkey asking more peanut! Well, I didn't know that AEON CC outsources the CS part to VADS. Just to add, I really did overpay AEON CC intentionally to get my account cleared off and now they owe me some money. Not a lot but you can buy yourself 2 drinks @ Starbucks. This story occured quite a while back (Hint: I applied for the AEON card almost as early when the card was initially launched) and I have been regularly on a monthly basis getting my statement from AEON CC despite having my card cancelled off thanks to the "extra" cash that I have with them. I'm not asking anyone to boycott or avoid AEON cc but just to share my experience. (Thanks vin_ann I tried to get the extra cash back by calling the CS, sending a letter and fax over the years to no avail. Guess that cast in stone my opinions about the product and I give up hope on ever getting my money back. (Luckily it is not too much) Too bad coz I had a good initial impression having saw their HQ in Japan before. I really pity those folks who go and apply for this card (maybe they are being conned and will regret this product later) and the AEON agents who desperately tries to market this card. QUOTE(cenkudu @ Dec 31 2008, 06:50 PM) i have to decide to retain either HLB Visa or master card. which one is better to keep? visa or master card has more coverage? Both also the same coverage in Malaysia and globally. (In 99.9% cases at least) In some shops, merchants will ask for 3% "fees" for either Visa or Mastercard. AMEX and Diners will be charged more. Both also got different previledge and occasionally run contests. It is a matter of individual preference actually. |

QUOTE(kindaichi @ Dec 31 2008, 11:06 PM) I downloaded the form myself, and mail the form to the branch.... i only tick one card which is the batman character card, then they sent me two cards...... Ohhh ... for me I called the number advertised in the paper. (I think Price Solution pick up the phone) And then they sent me the form along with an additional sheet of paper which mentioned which card got annual fee waiver offers (Ranging from basic, Character and all the way to VISA Infinite) and how to get 3 years waiver. (Either you do a balance transfer or take up a supplementary card)i just posted a new form, applying the other 3 characters card, i.e. taz, tweety etc.... That's why I say no such thing. You need not get 2 cards just to get the annual fee waived. (At least from Price Solution) You can play hard ball and cancel both cards if they still persist on the 2 cards rule and reapply a few weeks later. At least you get to keep the cards if you want to. QUOTE(wcs2798 @ Jan 3 2009, 11:10 AM) u dont have to become member to apply for easy payment.but i would suggest u to do so to entitle lower interest rate I would not suggest this approach as the EZ installment is not calculated based on a reducing factor vs. conventional CC. Plus, I would not recommend the AEON card in the first place. For me, it is avoid at all cost.Added on January 3, 2009, 4:40 pm QUOTE(truth_seeker_09 @ Jan 3 2009, 11:30 AM) anyone got any idea on how to ask for Annual Fee Waiver from Citibank? Caution ... if you subscribe for Citibank Autopay, you can't cancel the facility for the next 12 months without attracting a penalty fee. Like everyone have said ... the bank should waive the annual fee without condition. If they don't want then tell them to cancel card immediately. It is the consumer market these days. Any other banks don't have such condition so why should you start to agree with Citibank's condition.I'm sick with them. Ask me to subscribe autopay for my utilities bills... which i don't have any. I think they got too big so now start to put conditions on consumers. Go to h** ! This post has been edited by hye: Jan 3 2009, 04:48 PM |

QUOTE(Reventon @ Jan 3 2009, 07:50 PM) Called up Amex Cs and ask for annual fee waiver, but the request is declined. Amex plat cc and charge card annual fee will not be waived ( as the cs claim ). But one funny thing is in my statement is Rm 66.66 instead of Rm 800 for the annual fee. For that amount, I wouldn't mind paying for the annual fee. Don't be too excited, it may be shortlived. Next month you may see a shocker when they realise their mistake and charge you the "actual" annual fee. |

QUOTE(wirelessdude @ Jan 3 2009, 08:49 PM) Did you need to supply proof of income, employment etc? The sales guy at 1U just asked for my HSBC Premier card and said it was good enough to apply, although I've only had it for less than a year. Of course lah, you are holding the HSBC Premier Card. Holding this particular card means something. Some more you are applying for another HSBC product, they can get access to your details very quickly. This post has been edited by hye: Jan 3 2009, 09:32 PM |

QUOTE(RockIron @ Jan 4 2009, 07:19 PM) Hi kei18kun, If you ever got lucky or got early info then let us know. If got special promo, let me know also la and I'll be your good friend for the day. OCBC MC plat can apply if u get recommendation from OCBC top management. Anyway going to try my luck this coming Saturday. Nothing is impossible. It's hard to say. Maybe they let me to apply due to their new set up for their branch????? Added on January 4, 2009, 9:29 pm QUOTE(gyver @ Jan 4 2009, 05:48 PM) The Citibank CC agent @ officer that call me up inform me that Citibank limit is stand alone and not like other banks. He told me that if you have 14k limit for CIMB that means your limit only 7k for Visa and the other 7K is for mastercard. Different banks have different ways of implementing CL. What was said about Citibank was true means if you have 2 cards means you have 2 seperate CL. The caveat is that if you ever cancel one of the cards then CL will not be combined. This forum serves as a good info about cc in Malaysia. Don't let the agent hoodwink you. Just a few days ago, I was at MidValley and got CIMB cc booth at the exhibition area. Agent asked me whether want to apply and I said yes provided if you offer me a World Mastercard. (WMC) The agent said "We don't have such product. Our highest card is just the Platinum". I said, you call up your manager and ask whether CIMB got World Mastercard. The agent did just that and got very embarassed after that. I said, "How can I trust (and apply cc from you) you if you don't even know your own products". The manager (or team leader, sweet lady I tell ya) spoke to me after that and apologized since they don't have the forms for the WMC. Took my particulars and will call me next week. She even asked me how come I know about this product. I said I'm active member of this forum. (LYN) Maybe next time, the banks will pay attention to our CS grouses when they visit this forum. QUOTE(vvip @ Jan 5 2009, 07:11 AM) 2-3 weeks should be sufficient. But why so persistant with Citibank ? There are other cards which are better or equivalent to Citibank. And if you think only Citibank card is international, the agent who told you this only want to promote their product. HSBC CS is better than Citibank anytime of the day. |

QUOTE(gyver @ Jan 5 2009, 10:53 AM) Thanks guys, a lot of good info here. That is why I bookmark also Thanks four support of this thread. At least you took the pains to read all the info unlike some ppl who come in here and ask to recommend best credit card. My case is really funny. I applied for Citibank Air Asia and all forms and docs were send out to agent as requested. The agent called back after received everything and offered me to also apply for Citibank Giant card. Then I got a letter a couple of days back saying my application got rejected because insufficient docs were submitted. Then the next day the agent call me up saying that only one card can be approved because my CIMB 14k is combined limit. Then why send letter saying rejected. Ah... so funny. So he ask me to choose Air Asia or Giant. I choose Air Asia. Currently I have a few cards beside CIMB - Alliance Ikea (free coffee and shopping discount), Maybank Classic (online purchase), RHB Travelcard (fuel), UOB Platinum. I am applying to Citibank to see the service and perks of using this card. The problem with so many cards is your wallet gets so bulky. Either your back pocket or your side pocket will have a big lump. If I leave certain cards home then I will miss on some points opportunity like last weekend where I went to Ikea and forgot to bring the card. I think what happened is that the agent were trying to get you to apply for more than 1 card and more commission/sales target out of you. Citibank agents are well known for this, I kenna once and I screw up that guy big time once I report it to the CitiBank for fraudelent application. Insufficient docs or not, it is not clear coz you did not mention specifically what you submitted. Mandatory ones are IC, income proof (if you don't have a card) or existing card. (More than 12 months but better if more than 18 months) If everything is OK then should be alright. Well ... you are an existing cc user so you know best how to structure your cc spendings. In case you are unaware got SCB debit card which provides 7% rebates for all fuels till June 2009. Look @ the first page which shows cards that does not have additional fees when used overseas. Probably after rethinking, you'll realise that you have one too many cards but it is up to you to decide how you want to use your cc. Yeah ... I agree too many cards makes your wallet bulky. I carry only 2 cards (2 different banks) most of the time. |

Call the bank (AMBank, provide them with your IC should be able to confirm whether you have cc with them) first and reconfirm. If confirm then take action by making a police report.Added on January 5, 2009, 2:26 pm QUOTE(RockIron @ Jan 5 2009, 02:18 PM) Myself very sensitive on such issue(which I will inform my issuers no tele sales or promotional offer thru phone call). I do the same thing as well. I'm not trying to be rude or anything like that but if anyone who call you and claims from the bank / Mastercard or VISA and then asks to verify your cc information is a sure Red Alert. I don't compromise to protect myself against identity theft. If they want to inform or promote, just mail it to me. Any of them still call me regarding tele sales or promotional offer,I will hang up the phone. Sorry telemarketeers. You just can't sell anything to me. Sometimes you will see this on the bank's fees information for their cc product, look for promos where they waive the fees. I have never paid for such fees in my lifetime and nor should you ! |

QUOTE(David83 @ Jan 5 2009, 09:49 PM) Today I received a call from some company that asked me about the credit card thing. I'm not sure what are they're trying to promote as the receiption was pretty poor. They used a mobile number to call me - 016 2078639. Most likely a scam! Highly likely it is one of those scams ... I always get these calls from 016 numbers as well. (Sometimes they call from a landline number as well) So bad till I won't pick up any 016 numbers unless I can recognize the number or it is already stored in my phonebook. |
