Early hands-on article on the Mamba. Mamba hands onQuite an interesting read, and I love the way the charger looks. Integrated rechargeable battery, no battery hassle. Plus Razer claims that there will be no difference in the performance/response of the mouse regardless whether its working wirelessly or wired. Planning to sell my Lachesis, or keep it as a spare (I still have my old Copperhead), and get this awesome new mouse when it comes out. Oh one more thing, from the article - "They also showed off the new “Cacharias” headset, which is the headset that will be coming in the Megalodon package; the package will include a little amp/mixer that they’re still QAing." I use a Destructor, and I love it.
Very highly recommended, especially if you use laser mice, where it is almost essential.
For a DA I guess a Goliathus should do just fine.
But if you have the extra cash, do get the Destructor. Great tracking, plus the awesome looks, it's definitely worth the money.
Yeah it does eat up your mouse feet a lil bit, but by doing that, it keeps them perfectly flat and smooth, which is good, obviously.

Then buy replacement Hyperglides =).
On a more serious note though, yes it does shorten the life of the mouse feet, but not by that much. Online comments on the faster wear are highly exaggerated.
It certainly does a lot less damage to your mouse compared to if you use it without any mousepads.
And the surface is not really that rough, I think the Goliathus Control Ed (I bought one then replaced it with the Destructor) is even rougher.

I guess it'll just take a bit of time to get used to it.
I found it to be much easier to adapt to the speed in multiple games when you run all your games at the same resolution as your desktop, the higher the better.

I've been using the Moray for about a month now - mp3s, occasional videos, and the customary gaming.
In short, I think they're excellent. Music is clear and crisp, bass is loud without being overly obtrusive (doesn't dominate the music/sound).
Comfort is quite good, I've used it for 3-4 hour stretches and it felt quite natural. The replaceable rubber earplugs help.
The cables are light, and they hang freely - a good thing. The pouch it comes with is pretty cool (but big), though useless if you already have an iPod pouch.
What I don't like about it is the symmetrical design. I keep having to look at the earphones to see the 'L' or 'R' sign.
Build quality is just about acceptable, certainly not outstanding. The earphones don't really feel as sturdy as I would have liked.
It's not particularly good for gaming, specifically sound direction is not quite as clear. I'll definitely get the Carcharias soon for gaming.
Overall it's excellent. Especially with its low price, you'd be hard pressed to find a a better choice.

Well so far it has never gotten tangled up.
But then again that would depend on how you handle it. Personally I've never had tangling problems with any kind of earphones.

I've tried the M100 before I bought the Moray.
To me the sound quality was pretty much the same, though I'm no audiophile. My friend who is one, said the Moray sounded very slightly better.
The Moray was more comfortable for me though, which was why I bought it.
But true though, the symmetrical design is getting on my nerves a little bit.

What do you guys think?
Lachesis is priced at $79.90, and is sold in Malaysia for RM260-ish.
The Piranha on the other hand is $69.90, but here it's also RM260-ish.
Carcharias is $79.90, so would it be around about RM260 as per the Lachesis, or RM300 just to be more expensive than the Piranha?
The Mamba is $129.90, same as the Barracuda which costs around RM400. So would the Mamba be priced at RM400, or closer to RM500? (Current exchange rate - $130 = RM465)

A couple more hands-on articles on the Mamba - PCGH PreviewLive picsGamecyte PreviewLooking good so far. All positive comments. And check out the retail packaging. Damn I want this mouse, now. Added on January 15, 2009, 3:02 amOn the Gamecyte preview, it looks like the show stand used the Mamba on a Goliathus Control Ed. Has Razer finally fixed their laser sensitivity problems? The Lachesis was horrible on a Goliathus Control Ed, especially at high DPI settings. 5600DPI, and still work on rough, soft mats? Only time will tell. Apparently it's the lightest wireless mouse around.
No big deal, that. Yeah it's around the same weight as my Lachesis, so hopefully it'll be easy for me to get used to the weight. The DeathAdder-like shape might cause problems though, after years of using Copperhead and then Lachesis.
LOL the Boomslang is one fat mouse alright.. I've tried it a couple of times, felt weird for me - weight and shape.

Lucky guy.
Anyway any news on when it's going to ship out to retailers here?
Added on January 15, 2009, 11:57 pmBoomslang = Ferrari. Let's take this analogy a step further shall we?
The Boomslang CE - Timeless classic, rare and exclusive, very capable = Ferrari F40
Lachesis - Sleek looks, fastest of its kind (at the time of launch) = Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano
Deathadder - Comparatively accessible, hugely popular = Ferrari F430
Mamba - young upstart, first 'convertible' of the company, high tech = Ferrari California (the marque's first car with folding hardtop)
LOL

Well we all know what greedy merchandising whore EA is..
As long as Razer gets money out of the deal, I couldn't care less about the Deathadder Kane's Wrath. Looks horrid anyway.

The Wraith Red Lachesis has been available to certain markets for quite a while now I think. Just that they're making it a mainstream product now.
Would have preferred this over my Phantom White Lachesis though.
Oh well. Bring on the Mamba =)

QUOTE(yuktsi14 @ Jan 17 2009, 11:43 AM) razer stuff is too expensive Haha well, I can't say they're not expensive, but try asking any Razer user, they'll say they're worth every penny. Plus, the two entry level Razer mice (Krait and Salmosa) are pretty affordable, when you take into account their capabilities.

I use the Lachesis now, and I have used the Copperhead for 2 years prior to that. I use palm grip though, so I can't really comment about claw grip.
The Copperhead is a great mouse, I still keep it as my spare mouse. I've never really agreed with the Diamondback's shape, I think it's a bit too small.
Copperhead's laser sensor is really good. I used it at 2000dpi and max sensitivity, and it was just flawless. Mind you though, you'll need a hard gaming surface for it to work at its best. I used the Exactmat with it.
Why don't you consider the Lachesis? I think it is a good step up from the Copperhead, it looks much better, the side buttons are easier to press, is has 2 extra buttons below the scroll wheel, and feels more comfortable. The sensor is better too. Don't read too much into the 4000dpi thingy, you'll rarely use it at that high settings, but it is good to know you can do it if you want to. For me I use 2000/3000/4000dpi depending on the game, and 2000dpi for normal use. I works best with the Destructor mat. Trust me it's worth it.
Razer side buttons are not that sensitive, I don't think anybody presses them by accident while moving the mouse. If anything, they're a bit too hard to press. With the Copperhead, whenever i use the side buttons, I'd accidentally move my mouse i lil bit (doesn't happen with the Lachesis). No real biggie though.

Mate, as far as wireless gaming mouse goes, there are only 3 choices - Razer Mamba, Logitech G7, and Microsoft Sidewinder X8.
Of the 3, I think only the Sidewinder X8 is suitable for claw grip users (I'm guessing here, I'm not one). The Mamba resembles the DeathAdder, which is designed for palm grip users. The G7, which I had sampled before I bought the Copperhead, also felt like it was designed for Palm grip.

No prob =).
Haha I have a Copperhead Anarchy Red, which I think is the best looking one out of the 3. But then again that's just me, and my favourite colour is red. I would love a red Lachesis, but it wasn't available yet when I bought mine (Phantom White).
How come you're not considering the Lachesis though?
Up to you bro, it's your choice. Which ever one you pick, you'll still end up with a fantastic tool for gaming. Enjoy.

The colour is up to you la dude, can't decide that for you can I? =)
Yeah for Razer laser mice, you really need a smooth, hard surface. I've had both the Exactmat and Destructor, for the Copperhead and Lachesis respectively, and those combination worked perfectly.
Tried the Lachesis with the Goliathus, and it was disastrous. The Copperhead is just about acceptable on my Goliathus Control Ed. My Exactmat is too worn out already >.<.
Do get the Destructor if you want the best out of your Copperhead/Lachesis. It's worth the price.
As for a Lachesis demo, I couldn't find one too. But I was just itching to have it - just look at it man. Best decision I've made, fantastic mouse.

I've just replaced my Lachesis at Ban Leong, previous unit developed erratic blinking light right after I updated its firmware to the latest version.
Sent an email to Razer Support about it, and they replied within one day with list of trouble shoot/workaround, none of which fixed the problem. Having replied to that email, they asked me to get it replaced by the retailer/distributor.
Service by Razer was top-notch, as usual. Replied all my emails within one day.
So I came by to Ban Leong's office just now and got it swapped with a new one. Service was quite slow, had to wait for quite a while, but whatever, I got a new mouse.
I've just sent another email to Razer Support to ask if I should re-register the new mouse, and should I update the firmware again.
Overall I was quite pleased with the whole thing. Good job Razer/Ban Leong.

Depends really. For me I had a printed email from Razer Support distinctly saying that I should get my Lachesis replaced/exchanged by the local distributor. So they did a One to One swap instead of the usual RMA.
Previously when my Copperhead had a double clicking issue they asked me to do RMA, which would have taken a couple of months. I refused to do that, went and bought a new Lachesis instead. But somehow the Copperhead started working properly again after that, LOL.
