experience as in making a purchase through the apple online store..
*
hi i just purchased one thru edu pricing yesterday,my experience is never use bank transfer it'll be awfully slow,you cant use maybank debit card either cause its only meant for physical swipes not for online purchase. i used public bank debit card,it works smile.gif normally the item should be arriving by 4-5 days make sure you purchase before 3 to allow for on the spot processing. use CC also can hehe.

@nimrod323,
Hmm.. so U just log in and make the purchase? You get the item delivered and they still don't verify if you indeed qualify for the Education 'rebates'?

if im not mistaken, you just have to agree to their terms that you indeed are qualified for educational prices on the webpage.. because when the item is delivered, i think it is from a third party courier and i believe they are not related to apple..

@jind86,
In that case, a LOT of people are going to be abusing it! I'm tempted to get a new system but I've no reason too *siGh* and *siGh* again because this time I qualify under this Education scheme!!! *arugh*

I called Apple store previously and the receptionist told me bank transfer takes about 5 to 7 days. Order processing and delivery takes 3 - 5 days. In total about 2 weeks. Using credit card is faster, usually transaction processing can be done on the day itself.

BTW I am so unhappy with the Maybank debit card I have. Can't do any online transaction. And my main purpose of applying the card is to shop online. Now I can't use it for that at all. Useless card. =( And debit card has to be carefully handled because once you lose it, people can use your money directly. Feels like carrying a bomb with me lol.

Enough rants. lol. Sorry I got drifted away.

The edu price should be there for years to come. If you don't have a reason to buy, then wait for new models to come and buy when you need it while you are still qualified. =D

Public bank debit card is indeed reliable, i've also used it for paypal account verification. Thanks for the info, now I know I can purchase via online store using it.

Credit Card statement lor.. they demand a credit card statement even i asked them to call my dad... my dad refuse to give them because dad's creditcard bank HSBC already approved the payment...
*
they have no business asking for your statement. the most they should do is ask for a copy of the card and signature to verify.

Then let me drift you back.... doh.gif

Like nimrod(whatever number he is) has said, public bank debit card can be used for online transaction, whether it's on itunes or paypal. I've even tried it on HK-based online portals. Everybody knows Maybank debit card is known not to work thru online transaction so it's crap.

All debit cards can be a bomb if you tie them to your current or savings accounts. It's logic isn't it...? So instead of doing that, you may be safer if you could just manually cash in at the point you wanna make a purchase. It also saves you from over-spending in case you're a shopaholic type. Troublesome, yes, but safer. Wanna get rid of the "manual cash-in" hassle, just get a credit card.

[WTA] For those who have purchased at Apple Online Store with education discount price. My self a part time student and I have my own credit card but limited for RM4k. To purchase a mac I need more credit. So i decided to use my parent credit card. The question is should my parent create Apple ID and key in their CC info OR I just sign in my own Apple ID and use my parent CC info?

Appreciate for your help. biggrin.gif
