Suddenly I feel iMac Quad-Core 2.8 GHz is cheap compared to MacPro Quad-Core (RM6,500 compared to RM8,200) ..
*
can you cutomize the imac like you could a mac pro? doh.gif , different desktops, different capacities and capabilities if i have a firm that uses these machines for a long time, and upgrade them every once in awhile, mac pro is the way to go, the graphic card, harddrive bay and RAM can be upgraded at will

QUOTE(Eithanius @ Aug 10 2010, 10:28 PM)
But what you're saying, you still miss the point... Yes, the iMac gives you 27", let alone extend another display, but a Mac Pro has better expandability of up to 6 displays in total - displays of your own choice. HDD you can only customise additional 2.5" SSD on an iMac's tiny space, as compared to 4 HDD, and probably more if you know how to MOD.

As for GC on the iMac, you're stuck with 5750, whereas an MP can get up to 5870, probably 6870 in the future when MP 2011 ships.

MP comes with PCIe slots for additional cards - RAID cards, connectivity cards, pro-video/audio cards, you name it. Does the iMac have this...? SD card slot for an advantage maybe.

Oh, if the iMac goes AWOL, there it goes, the entire unit into the service center. The Mac Pro, still behaves like a PC - cabut here, cucuk there... whistling.gif

Need I go on..? It's a long list....

People who afford the MP 4-core don't really compare performance per price or specs per price if you wanna put it that way.

In short, they pay extra on the premium of expandability at your own pace (vs customised iMac from factory), with a little more variety of your own stuff (vs Apple-designated parts), and those who demands features for professional work which the iMac lacks. For this small set of ppl... "Performance be damned, I want expandability" MP 4-core fits right perfectly.

couldnt have said it better myself, haih people these days only look at the surface never look deep enough.

Max out the configuration on the best Mac Pro. You'll find that it would cost you RM 81,852.00 to buy the whole system. yawn.gif yawn.gif
*
thats is the reason why people get the base spec and upgrade the rest on the go or over a period of time minus the Processor configuration.

any apple product except iphones and ipads can be brought to any resellers or apple store near you, if you are in malaysia bring it to one of the service centers or resellers like Epicentre or Machines.

Been thinking awhile getting the new IPod Touch 32gb wink.gif But do they provide 0% installment payment?

It seem like with education discount, there is no discount for it T.T so disappointed
*
how is the ipod being effectively utilized in schools/colleges and universities? this more of an entertainment/gaming/lifestyle product that is the reason apple doesnt offer education price since its cheap enough for those who could afford it, if you already have CC i doubt you are a student do not abuse the Education store.

Hey... at least don't insult me please. I start working before I'm studying wink.gif

Now I just start studying and still doing some part time job here and there. So I have some finance but not a lot. This the truth smile.gif

Still haven't answer my question about 0% installment. ( I can at least cover it )
*
nobody is insulting you here, if you have checked http://store.apple.com/my and http://store.apple.com/my-k12 and realized there is no difference between the pricing of the sites then wouldnt than mean = there is no discount on the said product and also if you looked hard enough there is no option for installment on both sites, so what does this tell you? isnt it obvious that there isnt any? do you need to confirm and ask here to validate what you can obviously see?

Technically, the iPod Touch has been tied into "education" by Apple, thanks to iTunes U. And nimrod, you're forgetting that kids these days have CCs or access to them before they even get a job.
*
opps sorry my bad but dontcha think itunes U can be accessed through other means too? not a very good justification that will also make any device that could hold podcasts as a necessity to education, i agree they compliment education but they cant be a primary tool at least not at this era.

QUOTE(FinFin @ Sep 22 2010, 02:41 AM)
I think i understand kcloud. What makes him mad isn't about that he couldn't get the answer, it is the way nimrod answers his question.
*
Yep and the rest of us here are supposed to act passively and respond to the most ridicuolous of queries and yet dont hit some sense on to these people, since its fairly apparent they did not do a basic search in the first place? Whats wrong with the way i answer question i have been steadily helping and answering even before you came to this forum, what makes your impression of me hold water?

QUOTE(FinFin @ Sep 22 2010, 02:41 AM)
It was kind of rude if you scroll up and read.
People posted here so that they can get help, help him with kind manner or you don't. It might be a common sense to you but what about to others?
*
How is it rude, i'd rather put it as mild, if you are being ignorant and needed to be spoon fed we have a mac+ipod buying guide pinned up, some of us here have contributed through our research, its fairly easy to get to know all there is to purchasing and using any apple device, all it takes is will power which is lacking.

QUOTE(FinFin @ Sep 22 2010, 02:41 AM)
Same thing like for musicians to differentiate a major or minor key is just a common sense but it is not for the others.
You don't see it there doesn't mean the thing doesn't exist. That's why people come here and make enquiry. Be kind.
*
There is a reason forum such as these exists, as a last resort after you have done proper investigation or research in understanding something, a forum's function is at the end of the day a repository of answer to queries, im pretty sure the buying guide and all the info pinned are sufficient and the apple.com website is filled with information. On a daily basis many jokers come in to be spoonfed and troll around, im sorry i rather knock some sense into them rather than being pretentiously happy let the trend continue, feel free to report to the mod if you find my existence on this thread a nuisance or burden to you. It is fairly easy to sling mud on to someone you barely know online but try to be brave and take action if you must.

I didnt know you can send it back. I bought my 15" MBP last year. its has a intermittent mechanical sound like a spring or whirring. i didn't check it out until this year, and found out i have already passed my warranty period. : ( oh well. i hope its a minor problem. it still makes sound occasionally.
thanks for sharing, now we know one can return and get a new one.
*
only if it shows mechanical failure in the first 2 weeks would it warrant a one 2 one replacement otherwise it's repairs only

how will the invoice be written? purchase through education store? can use that for income tax claim?

Wait a minute, that means you are not a student la. Please do not discuss this here, we do not condone falsifying eligibility on the edu store.
