I play with Thomson L6 RMVB player before with component output. Component cable provided is pasar malam quality. (Sorry no HDMI). The quality is just so-so.
Doubt it can compare with WDTV PQ.

Since we are doing some comparison here.
How do you guys found the AC3 in MKV file compare with DVD DTS?
We know for PQ, MKV wins. But Audio?

Any recommendation for WD Hard drive 1TB?
In terms of value and performance which model to get?

Going to get 1 soon with WD TV.
Currently my P4 PC is lagging when watching mkv.

hi guys a few question here.

Q1. Is it true WDTV cant handle high bit rate movie (usually some 1080p movies over 10GB)? If yes what should we do? Use only 720p movies?

Q2. Is it possible to have DTS and 1080p in avi formati (4+4GB)

Hi guys,

I just bought the WDTV and tested a few problem. Appreciate if someone can help on this

Settings: Sharp LC42A65M, Marantz 4500SR receiver, WDTV Version 1.01.02, WD My Passport Essential

Q1. All 1080p movies (mkv and avi) have a little bit lag(not smooth) when showing moving scenes (Eg: As per below youtube
0:10 to 0:12 when the stars resemble )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juGUxQ8FCv4
720p movies have no such issue

Q2. Using receiver to decode DTS from mkv file have very soft sounds from (left, right, surround speaker). Whereby the center speaker is loud and clear.

Notice this is different from other forummers where they encounter soft sounds from center speaker.

Q3. The remote is unresponsive sometimes.

Thanks.

When you say pixelated do you mean this?
user posted image
So far non of my files have pixelated issue(suspect files >24fps), but my 1080p files does hav some lags on moving scenes.

Q2. DTS sounds soft on surround speaker.
It happens to all of my files. I dont think is encoding issue rite? hmm.gif

Q3. Thanks for the tip. Guess i have o be more gentle on the remote

For my case, other than the sound from centre speaker is rather soft, no clipping so far of all the DTS tracks that I played.

Weird. Mine is center speaker LOUD, but the rest all four speaker is soft.

I just try out all my DTS mkv and they all play fine except Band of Brothers.  The other thing I discover is that the clipping only occurs to those mkv files with 2 audio stream.

Is there any setting i should set on the WDTV?

At one booth, 1TB MyBook was selling at RM369. So, it is still a saving of RM9 for it.

The only problem with 1TB hard disk is they require external power.
Else it will be very convenient for me to plus n play directly from my pc to Tv.

When can we get 1TB hard disk without external power?

Thank you! The hacked firmware works. I now am playing my Transformers 720p off the Samsung external DVD-RW drive. Flawlessly I might say. smile.gif

Does this mean i can plug my external dvd rom into my wdtv and play the dvd without any problem (even with DTS)
Q1. Does it upscale my DVD (480p) to 1080p?

Q2. What if i plug in with a external Bluray ROM?

Quite happy to use HDMI out from my WDTV to my Denon AVR-1909. It shows the big DTS Surround at its front panel.

But but later found out it cant bitstream True HD audio, so I can't get my Denon amp to light up the Blue HD Audio light and the Dolby TrueHD or DTS-Master for that matter...... cry.gif

WDTV cant play the HD audio simply because its HDMI port is 1.2 version. Only 1.3 port and couple with HDMI cable version 1.3 can stream the true HD audio...........

Seems like Tvix Dvico 6100 can bitstream HD Audio. Maybe consider it in future. However, judging from the price of this little gadget, I should not have complained more.......... brows.gif

Did anyone play the un-touched BD ripped 1080p movies? Any problem? Some reported not able to play.

Not quite understand this part. Does this mean if im using HDMI v1.3 im able to get my mkv files with DTS to decode the audio and pass thru to the TV without using optical cable or Amp/Receiver?
