Got it from IT One 1U
I'll be comparing this against my current setup ,Dvico 3100 (PATA) and Pinnacle ShowCentre
Low Points
- No volume control. Must control from TV
- No menu to transfer files from USB1 to USB2. I was thinking of using a thumbdrive to ferry newly downloaded shows. But now I need to unplug my MyBook and bring to my PC
- No Goto function. You cant tell it to go to a time index. Need to FF/FR. But there is resume function
- Powering off the WD TV wont power off my MyBook. I do hear MyBook spinning down but the light in front still glows. On a pc, when u eject it it will power off. Guess I need to wait a bit longer on my next test.
- It only show 7 lines of text during file browsing. Wish WD would make better use of screen realestate
- No button on the unit except for reset (i think). Lost the remote and you're in hot soup
High Points
- Video : Tested xvid, divx5, divx6, mp4, vob, m2ts-h264 and iso. I dont have mkv and I am lazy to rip VC1 Bluray
- Audio : Tested mp3, aac
- Resume function worked for all file format. Not sure what if there is a limit on the number of files it can resume
- Playback is almost instantaneous for all file format
GUI ReviewThe GUI is nicely done and responsive. By default, upon power on it will highlight Photos. Media files are grouped by 'All', Folder, Date and Recently played. Menu available during playback are Audio Selection, Subtitles, Zoom In, Zoom Out, Screen Position, Repeat and File Info.
