QUOTE(JayC75 @ Dec 15 2008, 09:00 AM) My WD My Book 1TB will not be able to scan and detect by the device, but once i plug in another USB thumbdrive on another USB port, it started to detect, strange...anybody know what wrong?? Also, most of my MKV file play with no sound at all, what should i select at the SOUND setting page? set it to Stereo or Digital? or need optical only can hear the sound?? When you switch on the WDTV and the external hdd, you need to wait for a while for it to scan the whole hdd. If your .mkv file uses DTS sound, then you will experience no sound, unless your AVR got DTS decoding.

HDMI version is one thing.
HDMI carries both video and audio in 1 cable.
You need a high speed and high bandwidth HDMI cable to experience a smooth HD experience on your LCD/Plasma and 7.1 surround sound at the same time. All this in 1 HDMI cable.
So, if you get a al-cheapo HDMI cable, even it states v1.3, you will not achieve the above fully.
