I want to buy an amplifier/receiver for home theater from usa. Maybe the total tax will be 30% right?

And does it require permit from sirim or jabatan bekalan elektrik?
*
amplifier is 26.5%(15%+10%), as for receiver (cables?) if yes 43% (30+10)

not sure bout the permit though

Planning around 10 pants, 1 handbag and 1 purse.

Will I get tax?

Flip through old pages, some mentioned clothes get tax but I'm not sure the latest Malaysia tax tariff.

Any idea?
Thanks

From my experience your item will most probably be taxed if its a bulky item.

Small item(value exceed RM500) hardly get taxed as that doesnt attract them to take a look on the item itself.

haiz , malaysia custom broker is see mood
same product same declaration

one give 6% another give 26%

malaysia memang boleh

If you are sure which HS code to use for your product you can actually tell them to use that instead of the other one (if only you dont need to pay that much tax)

lol
basically i got legal invoice from korea + AK form ( for exemption tax) and tariff code cannot change because korea exporter cannot lie on the code ,
but then when reach malaysia
for example
JAN 2015
April 2015

Jan indian officer , honest and very nice to talk and follow law is by right 10% sales tax , or 6% GST after april

but April , this malay officer , remove exemption and not include AK form when assess my things and simply say 26% must pay , else u cant take ur stock

i have no choice but to pay it ....

basically it is same product , same tariff code ,almost same amount and almost same quantity , but different assessment officer

the next week after i complain to MITI about this , MITI ask me check with CUSTOM diraja malaysia

so i went to CUSTOM diraja malaysia , what they told me kuasa assessment officer is higher than them WTF
although they got the tariff fix by law

assessment officer still can assessment the things bases on the preferences

that is why i say MALAYSIA BOLEH
*
Only certain products are exempted when you are using the AK form. Check if your product fall into this category or not.

If you dont have the AK form then there is no argument there. I m sure if you have the AK Form, he wont simply tax you on the import tax are exempted (Only if you item are exempted)

Alright now I understand. I thought you dont have the AK Form at the first place. Thanks for sharing your detail info.

Yes I do agree with the BOLEHLAND in Malaysia. Once you paid the tax you wont be able to get it back unless you have the patient to follow up etc. It took me a year + for the last claim that I made. It was really a tedious job.
If you are importing a lot then I would suggest you take the guy advise avoid that officer. You can file a complaint against that officer but from my experience it will only do more harm to yourself rather than him unless you have big shot supporting you.

I dont think so cuz I bought cosmetics item less than 500 but they deemed my parcel value at 700 therefore I got taxed sad.gif
*
I say hardly not that your item definitely have no chance of being taxed. If you can provide the invoice of your item and the shipping charges you can actually talk to them.

Nope not in a huge box, weight approx 1.4 kg just a few lipsticks

They used abbreviation like FOB, INS (I knw this is insurance), frt (this one also) n CIF

Yeah got cosmetics in the invoice
*
FOB -free on board
Frt - freight
CIF - cost freight + insurance. Tax will be calculated based on this value.
How much is your total including the shipping charges?

If the frieght charges not in the invoice custom normally simply assume a certain value if I m not wrong. There is a few cases happen before when you use shipping company like FedEx etc
