GUys, anyone have problem like you out newspaper and then put the bedding and after some time your piggies will make a tunnel in the middle of the cage? They will just go under the newspaper and then running there...I have put the feeding bowl to prevent the tunnel making but still...Haizz....is there anyone still using wood bedding here? or most of you using fleece now? I might need to change it after I finished my bedding...I realise that my piggies...real big now...if compare to the first time I got them...Hahaha....

OH MY GOD...it dun look like Guinea pig it look like a fur ball....so cute...and cant even see its feets...will it overweight ar?Mine one slowly pump up now...hahaah yeah yeah the PVC tunnel...sorry still no time to go and buy yet...will try to find it very soon...thanks for reminding me..

Bough it on thursday....hahahaha....yeah...the hay is super fresh. I do able to grab their Timothy hay during their promotion also.....

Added on March 28, 2009, 5:37 pmTaking Jasper to Hand n Paws this morning because he was not feeling well (as he is not active as previous) but still drink and eat (but not much). After Dr.Jenny checked, she suspect that maybe be having bloat or so called foreign body obstruction. So she wrote me a letter to take a x-ray for him. After all the x-ray and checking, Dr.Jenny do give him an injection and also some antibiotic and etc......

I'm super worried now  as Jasper seems very tired and dont feel to eat but just drink a bit only when we reach home.

I'm planning to get mix veg paste(baby food,which is recommend by Dr.Jenny when the gp dont eat) when the rainning stop

I'm still searching more information abt this is the web now and may Jasper get well soon.

Btw, Dr.Jenny also do a checkup for Jingle. She do a ultrasounds for Jingle coz she suspect Jingle was pregnant as she can feel the baby's bone in Jingle's dummy. It is a bit difficult for Dr.Jenny to scan coz Jingle has a lots of flur(even is short) and Dr.Jenny have to shave some of her flur. Finally, Dr.Jenny able find a the baby's heart beat in the ultrasound and seems only 1 heart beat.

After taking the weight, Jingle was abt 820grams whereby Jasper is only 640grams(Both of them was having the same weight (620grams) in Jan09, and now seems Jasper is reducing weight due to his sickness)Dr.Jenny is a bit worried that the baby will be over size and it might have difficulties when Jingle giving birth. So i need to monitor Jingle's everyday.

Suddenly both of them also having problem....i'm really can't take the pressure and feel to cry. But Dr.Jenny told me not to pressure and not to panic as they can feel it and it is not good for them.

So i'm need to convenience myself to stay cool and clam down. My hubby is on overseas business trip and i have to handle everything myself. I believe i can do it.

This morning my pregnant Sheltie SOW gave birth to only one baby, none of us aware.  As this SOW is a first timer, she doesn't know what to do.  When we found out, the baby already dead in wet and cold condition.  The baby was huge in size, as big as a 1 month old baby GP.  Sigh..what a waste.....

From what I see, the key difference is the amount of the water they drink.

Both you feed same amount of pellet/veg/hay, it doesn't impact much whether which one comes first.  Xiaomian's poo is soft because of the amount of water she drank.  As long as the poo is nicely shaped, nothing to worry about.

All animal will eat leaf first, they will leave the stem aside. but sometime you also need to force the to eat stem by control of their pellet. You also need to remove all uneaten hay and replace new one everyday, they will dig in again on the leaf...

Hi, if i Make a house like Feon Feon at outside, will the Piggy get cold easily? What happen if its rainy day?

  That's mean he is not hungry enough.

I am a fleece user u can come my apartment and smell XD fleece absorbs water.. but partially also coz my girls are kinda potty trained. BUT i do change the fleece every 5 days.. so if u leave it there long2 of coz will smell lah

get the document clip.. black color one and the silver clipping can fold down.. that is good to hold fleece.

i'm buying my 18 and 16 years old sisters a guinea pig this saturday when i go back to penang, i've list down everything in page 1 (Necessities include list).

1. how should i choose a guinea pig?
2. Fair price ? Can only choose the short hair breed as i don't think both of my sis are hardwoking enough to comb GP's fur everyday.
3. Should i start with a male, or a female GP?
4. Besides the necessities list, what else should i pay attention to?
5. how do i know if its a young GP? don't want old or adult liao de. (like erm compare with when u hold with ur hand?i'm a girl.)

is RM 200 enough for all the things including the GP?

Actually we could put GPs' cage outside, provided it is a secure cage that not easy attack or open by the predator like cats/rats/monkey/eagle etc.  And the cage has to be under shade that away from rain and shine.

Not to worry about the GP will feel cold during rainy day or night, they have fur coat that protect them from that.  What they could not 'tahan' is the summer heat of our weather.  They will tends to drink more water if you put the cage outside of the house.  Make sure the water bottle is always full for them.  My GPs are located outside, and each cage consume about 1.5L a day.

Last time I do provide them the hide out area...now I don't anymore.  To provide a hideout area is good, but your GP will not socialize with you, and tends to be even more timid.  If you want your GP to be more socialize, then no need to provide hideout.  I normally provide hideout for the pregnant SOW or new comer only.  My GPs are all well expose to the things happening around them. 

Btw, you could use the plastic stool (bangku) as the hideout.  Cheaper and bigger.

Another thing to share is Sheltie GPs are usually bigger size of all cavy breeds available in Malaysia.  Abby, American shorthair and Peruvian are about the same size.  Sheltie is slightly bigger in body size, and generally each pregnancy at most the SOW could only carry 3 babies, that is why you could not find so many Sheltie babies available in the market.

Here is the picture on where I put my GP cages (left hand side of the picture below).  Away from sun & rain.  They still could see the greenary, closer to nature.  Everyday I spend my time in that area at least 2-3 hours, either do gardening, or reading books on my rocking chair. 

Today I visited Toby at pet safari, i think i saw there is 30+ guinea pig(Normal) for sale in their shop. Who love to have gp is good time to go grap it! I see those gp is soooo busy eating , eating and keep on eating!

1 of them feLL sick & died.. >_<!!!
the otheR 1 became depRessed & died few days LateR.


Year 2006, I got 3 new guinea pig!!!!
The white one is named Rex (breed: unknown??)
The black Abyssinian died shoRtLy afteR i bRought it back from the pet shop T__T Dunno y
The SheLtie died in Year 2007 (Brought it to many vets & found that he was boRn with
impeRfect moLar teeth & theRe's nothing much they can do to save it T_________T
i spoon fed him foR months tiL he died ...SobS....)


Year 2007, I decided to get Rex a wife (breed: Abyssinian).
I called her "Mommy" Guinea Pig... coz....


Nov 2007, She gave biRth to 2 daughteRs named CurLy (Breed: Abyssinian)
& SiLky (Breed: Common Guinea Pig) ^^~. Both puRe white in coLouR & has red eyes.
(Note that Both the paRents DO NOT have red eyes..-__-~)


Aug 2008, She gave biRth again to a Son (Breed: Abyssinian)
He is ALSO White in coLouR with red eyes -__-~.


March 2009, She gave biRth again to 5 babies. OnLy 2 suRvived (both white in coLouR + red eyes again)
.. the Rest suffocated & died (BLack eyes + mixed coLouR Like the Mom).
>_<~ TheRe was so much of bLood! 1 of the suRvivoRs was weak & neaRLy died...
had to be spoon fed miLk with bRead eveRy 2 to 3 houRs (She is caLLed MiLky a.k.a Roti).

Hence, I'm giving up on bReeding Rex (3 yeaRs oLd now). >_<~
I have no choice but to put my guinea pigs up for adoption =( *heaRtbRoken*

I have many otheR pets to caRe foR ; 5 dogs & 2 chinchiLLas)
CuRLy & siLky has been adopted by my fRiend.
The Son(to be neuteRed next week) & his new baby sisteR wiLL be given to my cousin.
(Wasn't easy to to Look foR ppL who R wiLLing to adopt red eyed guinea pigs).

Yesterday I brought my GP to hand N paws for a check up....Thanks carol for accompany me Dr Jenny said Cody having HEAVY MITES...n she said Cody is skinny....his weight is around 610 gram...gosh...put the advantage bayer for him....have to go back in 2 weeks time...hopefully after this can fully cure the mites problem~~~

is it ok everyday to give the combination like sawi + carrot + cucumber + tomato?

what's eggplant??? 

Good news to all and myself, Jingle was delivered 2 healthy babies yes'd mid night after 2am. I know it is aft 2am is because my last observe on her is ard that time before i go to bed and she is still walking ard in the cage.

This morning when i wake up at 10am, the 1st thing i do when u wake up is checking both Jingle and Jasper. I saw Jasper was standing in front of Jingle's hidding dome (both of them have their own hidding dome in the cage)and keep on looking into Jingle's dome. I was a bit scared when i saw this because i was wonder what happen with Jingle inside? She having problem during her delivered or anything worse happen(touch wood)? because she used to be the 1st one that running to me i go to see and check on them but how come she is not coming out at all?

I slowly take off her dome and found that there are 2 babies wt her in her dome     . I have separate Jasper from them now and putting Jasper in the wired cage. I have add a lots of Alfalfal hay into Jingle's tray also. Lucky i have clean the cage yes'd morning or else it is worse because at least start from today i cannot clean the cage until 10 days later right?

Neither then the water, alfalfa hay and Vit.C, pallet, timothy hay, vegs and fruits, pls do advice me what should i add on more to Jingle and the babies diet so that they will stay healthly? Choco is super active and she/he even go and eat hay himself/herself whereby snowy is more stick to the mother. I will go and buy another water bottle so that i can hang more lower and both Choco and Snowy can have the water.

They are so cute and both of them and Jingle&Jasper will stay healthy ever forever.
