Haha, later your housemate plant may get kill or you will smell stinky odor flooding around your housemate's room, cause the poo is decomposting in "cold compost".

hahaha... cannot la, the composting process will make the nutrient available to the plant. Even those you powder it, it have not be compost. In the mist of composting, bacteria will convert those poo into valueable fertiliser to the plant, without that the plant wont be able to absorb anything from the poo. Powder the poo will make the composting result become faster, and in the mist of composting, bacteria will draw nutrient from the soil to do the job, if you sprinkle the poo on to the soil, the plant will suffer from malnutrient due to the bacteria taking all the nutrieint do compost the poo you put on it. smile.gif

i experiece the same...when I didn't give veggie or fruit, my Cody seems to eat more pellets...then i notice if i give veggie or fruits, he eat less pellets...so now i can estimate how much he can eat actually....normally i will put the leftovers on top of the fresh pellets, so that he could eat the old one first...haha....but normally the leftover just like around 10 biji pellets~~~  wink.gif

I started to give hay yesterday...but seems like my Cody don't really fancy on it...he eat but not alot though...i saw the amount of the hay still almost the same this morning...

chin...i bought the hay from you in another forum...i dunno how to differentiate which one is timothy which one is alfafa as i got each 1kg from you....help.... notworthy.gif
*
Very easy. The hay that have long leaf is timothy hay. smile.gif

When you introduce hay to your pet who have not even expose to eat hay before, will take sometime for them to KNOW that is their diet. But some GP even not eating hay before since the day from the breeder, some will just dig in like no tomorrow. smile.gif

haha, you may need to provide a simple hidign place for them. If you tight in budget, you can use tissue paper box, make a simple hide out place for your gp to feel secure. But you need to change it very fast, their are great destroyer.

I have some idea during last weekend, i'm using BC bedding and i used to clean & picking up Jingle and Jasper's poo and wet bedding everyday to avoid them step on their poo and for hygen purpose. I still need to picking up those bedding from their food tray as when they chasing each other around or pop corning, those bedding will fall into their food tray.

This cleaning job taking 1 hr per day and recently i just come out wt an idea like "why dont i put the floor matt on top of the bedding leh?" So i have trying it and the result is quite good. Now days, i dont really need to pick update the wet bedding and poo as the poo will drop under the floor matt and the wet bedding is also under the floor matt. Food tray is now only food but no bedding anymore.

I think it is better for others gp's owner that using wood pines bedding as it can avoid the bedding to fly around.  icon_rolleyes.gif

Updated some picture of Jasper here as well.

Added on February 17, 2009, 12:20 pmHi Juztiny,

I'm sorry to heard that. May all the babies RIP.

Your baby look cute. biggrin.gif Btw, basically, bedding fly out from the cage abit is normal la, no worry. Of cause wood base bedding is always good choise, and the absorbant is good, lasting. smile.gif

Wood shaving or Breeder Celect better?Which one is better bedding?
*
It depends on how your use la, some ppl like to use recycle paper bedding, some like wood base bedding, I personally will go for wood base if my pet is direct contact with bedding. If your small pet is not direct contact with bedding, you can use either one with no problem. I personally felt that recycle bedding once it get wet, become very messy, i hate that!

My another pregnant Abby GP is about to deliver her 1st time babies soon (most likely these few days).  The babies colour should be nice, because parents are my favourite colours. (SOW is agouti and cream,  and father is cream colour).

I think its tummy have about 3 babies, because the SOW tummy is really big, when I feel her tummy, can feel the babies moving ler...like popcorning inside.

can't wait to see the babies. biggrin.gif

lol, yeah actually i just noticed that my gps are getting more and more chubby - thats y i've decided to cut down on their food. but my granny normally will keep feeding them when they wheek cuz they look too adorable to be ignored.

i've 3 gps (aged 1-1.5 years). each time feed them with quarter bowl every 2 hours - alternate between pellets, hay, vege, carrots, then pellets again. n everytime after they eat, they'll go and sleep despite having a large cage to run abot...

any idea how to make them more active?
