QUOTE(kaoru himura @ Apr 8 2009, 06:46 PM) I deworm my GPs by myself. I bought the liquid at Petshack with advise from our GP thread starter Sharil. Its around rm15-18 (forgot la) and i think the brand is Trojan or something (.... Ermmm are u refering to LC-VIT Forte Syrup? If it is.. um i got one question, how to trim GP's teeth? I once read from this forum tht Juztiny trim her GP's teeth after bath, can you share on how to do that? my Nao's teeth looks a bit long than it should be...i'm afraid it'll bring complications if i let it be... Added on April 8, 2009, 6:54 pm Thank you for your advice~! oh ur Jingle is pregnant too~! i really hope our angels will be fine and deliver cute healthy babies oh Jasper is very lovely, like a prince in a Disney cartoon~! you know the great blond hair...its really handsome prince~! about the teeth trimming.... i think you should leave it.. Routine tooth trimming is not necessary and may interfere with your piggies ability to eat. The biting, chewing and grinding of food [especially hays & grasses] will normally keep the teeth at the proper length. Also the length will vary from one piggie to another.. so dont worry about it too much. This post has been edited by SugarCoatedCandy: Apr 8 2009, 07:10 PM |

QUOTE(Feonfeon @ Apr 9 2009, 06:03 PM) anyone can advise... If there is just a thinning of the hair which is sometimes accompanied by some of the hair shafts breaking half way down to the root, then it is likely to be parasitic problem (mites). Sometimes also there will be pimple-like spots on the skin. I dont think the GPs mites problem is 100% gone. Better check properly. any idea why Gp's fur thining, shed a lot till can see a bit skin? wrong food? mites? but i spray ordi n no more that itchy feeling when i touch her. old ages? less vitamin? but i put vege(60) n pellet (30%) grass (10%) any idea?? |

I'm sure the mites problems not really gone.. So im not sure if you should spray it again. How often did the vet tell you to spray it? Coz cant spray too many times their skin very sensitive.. if the fur stick to baju is normal.. but just hope its not TOO much.. like locks
Did you try to mandi your GP? And if you have the kutu comb.. dunno whats it called in english swt =x you try to comb the fur and see if you see anything. If it isnt mites.. then its fungal infection This post has been edited by SugarCoatedCandy: Apr 9 2009, 09:24 PM |

QUOTE(Feonfeon @ Apr 9 2009, 09:44 PM) Its the one i mentioned before.. looks like pimples on the GPs skin.. if you say the skin and fur not greasy so its not fungal infection then.. just possibility of mites.. still there.. Give it 2 more weeks see if still got this problem.. then you spray again..This post has been edited by SugarCoatedCandy: Apr 9 2009, 09:59 PM |

QUOTE(Feonfeon @ Apr 10 2009, 02:20 AM) really> ohh..dats a relief..fuh..any medicated shampoo to recommend? should i go get frm my vet? You can try looking for Selsun shampoo.. These are practically safe for piggies. You can try getting it from the vet as many vets use this sometimes to treat mites. If that is hard to get, you can also try Prioderm shampoo. The prioderm is actually meant for humans, but its very2 safe for GPs too. But its best to consult a vet before you get your hands on these shampoo's.and how frequent u bath it? Added on April 10, 2009, 10:35 am QUOTE(hitz @ Apr 10 2009, 08:59 AM) By the way, can i use plastic netting cage for my GP? Do they like to bite plastic stuff like hammie? How will you apply this netting? Yes they like to bite ocassionaly too. Instead of DIY, you can always get pet cages big enuff for him ^^.. This will also ensure that he wont hurt himself by getting stuck in the netting or sort. Coz their feets, can get stuck in the netting.. and he wont be able to pull his feet out This post has been edited by SugarCoatedCandy: Apr 10 2009, 10:35 AM |

QUOTE(hitz @ Apr 10 2009, 10:49 AM) I thought can make a bigger cage for him if can diy. Like that nvm lar.. Will try to find a suitable metal case for him then. Thought can custom a play area for him using netting. Hehe actually can DIY one.. Urm if you can the base.. you get Cloroplast (from art shop can get) Cut it and make it into a box.. Then around it can put the netting lah.. but possibility still it can bite and chew on it also I think if you look back at some pages, a member (Finch) used one HUGE plastic box to make home for his piggies.. try have a look ^^ |

QUOTE(hitz @ Apr 10 2009, 04:03 PM) Will try to hunt for a better house for him. At the moment still looking for a better cage. I finally found finch's post of his DIY home hahaha. http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=24452624The dome not sure he can fit in or not oh.. Hehehehe... The biscuit tin also ngam ngam for him only, but he like to hide inside at the moment. He even can turn around in the tin. This is sufficient i think.. just make sure if you are gonna make the open concept.. you dont have other pets.. and free from predators. The storage box costs RM20 like finch said. If you decide to put netting around it, wire mesh can (About RM10 per meter).. coz the GP's wont be biting the mesh coz the height of the base enclosure is just nice so that they wont be able to nibble on the mesh. |

QUOTE(hitz @ Apr 10 2009, 04:38 PM) Ohh... i know what material finch is using, can get it in popular book store. But i thought wanna make him a bigger cage so that he have more place and better air circulation. But those wire mesh i scare he will bite it as it poison rite the wire mesh? Thank so much for helping out to find the finch diy cage, i did try to find.. but over 100++ pages oh... QUOTE(scorpgal @ Apr 10 2009, 04:43 PM) One option is chloroplast as i mentioned before.. Can get these boards at art shops. The big plastic boxes like that im not so sure where to find.. Ikea has i think but the height is too tall for good ventilation for piggies. Maybe you can try big hypermarkets and see if they have big ones like this.. |

You can still separate them and have the cage side by side.. they will still converse with each other.. when you think they have settled down already, try introducing them again.. perhaps by then they will stop being rowdy i have 4 maLe GP's !!!! and they fight aLot -__~ Rex's eaR is aLready tatteRed... so I have 1 maLe GP in each cage.. and i put the cages side by side... so they don't get LoneLy.. My femaLe GP's to get peck on each otheR or kick each OtheR when they R not wiLLing to shaRe the same house/food bowL... But they didn't huRt each otheR... so I did not sepaRate them.. I don't want them to get LoneLy.. In fact... the new owneR of my 2 femaLe GPs says that they haRdLy fight now. I guess they got cLoser to each otheR afteR shifting to a new enviROnment/owneR... |
