so.. how? is it fine for her alone or need companion? its hard for me though but seeing her not having a gosipping partner didnt calm my heart cz i wonder whether she wil be fine by herself or not..? cz i once separate her wit her companion n she wont eat...

but after d death she ok.. she eat like owez...

If you think you will be there to spend time with her then there is no need to rush for a friend. If you will be out of the house most of the time, i suggest getting her a friend..

5:00pm another BB delivered...

1st BB show no sign of breathing... i think he/she is gone...

Aww so sorry for the lost.. Ermm you should always check if the GP's are cold when they are delivered.. if they are cold wrap them in towel and pray that they will survive. You can try rubbing them gently with the towel.. But leave the towel inside with the mummy and all.

i notice tat alot of failure births.. why is tat so?
*
There will be complications during birth.. in fact in any birth of any kind of animal will have the possibility to have complications. cry.gif Some main reasons for complications for GP's are inexperienced mothers (maybe got pregnant too young) or first time having pups. Then there is where the baby will suffocate (weak breathing). Too long to deliver.. (it should not take 15 minutes or more) and some other factors.. sad cry.gif

I dunno if i explain right XD ermm when the mummy deliver rite.. she in labor that time, the baby should not be half way still inside her for more than 15 minutes. It's suffocation edi if more than 15 minutes sad.gif

The intervals (the time) between 1 pup to another pup im not so sure.. Maybe you can ask Juztiny about that since he has more experience in delivery. thumbup.gif

QUOTE(Juztiny @ Apr 6 2009, 09:40 AM)
Actually the interval is less than 15mins.   That is why first time mom need human assistance, when the 1st pup was delivered, I need to assist to wipe the 1st baby (especially nose and body), while the SOW is still pushing for the 2nd pup.
*
Is it a back to back thing Juz? Or will the mother rest awhile before she delivers another one? I dint seem to remember reading about this.. so your info would be nice ^^

Lol feon.. u so bad! hahahaha~

anyways lah i just quote this article i found on worms kay:

QUOTE
It could be maggots. These are fly larvae & they are after any left over food or poops in the cage. The type of bedding doesn't really matter, since its not the bedding they want.

Just like any mammal, guinea pigs *can* get worms, although its a very rare occurance. Most illnesses that would affect a guinea pig are not zoonotic. The only thing I know of that can be transmitted from piggies to humans and/or other animals is ringworm, which is not a worm, but a fungal skin infection. You would know by looking at your pig if it had ringworm--its very obvious.

You've already bathed the piggie, so my advice is to clean the cage thoroughly to remove any fly eggs. Use a solution of full strength white vinegar to wash the cage & everything in the cage, including the food dish, water bottle, and pigloo or hidey house. Add fresh bedding & piggie.

Then you'll need to keep a very close eye on flies. While you'll need to leave your piggie's pellets & hay in the cage (they need to eat all the time to keep their digestive tracts moving), you'll want to remove any uneaten fresh veggies fairly quickly to discourage flies. Its really easy for flies to get in the house during the summer months, especially if you have children going in & out all the time.

shocking.gif do we leave the food bowl in the cage..i mean the hay and staple food? or we have to take out coz i leave them in  and he eats when he wants to... or is that bad? i use to feed him veg 3 times a day... erm i feed him Romanian lettuce. 3 leaf each time then a friend of mine said it's bad to feed him too much..so i cut down to twice a day... like early morning and night. then i see that he's not that round anymore...is that bad?
*
hay should be there 24/7.. I leave the pellets all the time in the cage.. and always got stock.. when i go back finish mad.gif such heavy eaters. If your portions of food is small then its ok to feed them multiple times. Just dont over do with the vitamin C hehe.. and some can get really2 obese.. which is not good for a GP~

Toby Pet Safari has really un-healthy GP's if im not mistaken. They get their GP stocks in bulk and put them in a very large tank all together. I think xiawa has taken a picture of where the tank has cockroach in one corner for the tank! Very un-hygienic~

It's really up to the adopter what you wanna give as part of the adoption sweat.gif but since your intentions of wanting them to take good care of your babies.. i think its a reasonable thing that you did ^^

RIP sad.gif

Well the vet said it was diarhea... did she show signs of watery poo and losing her appetite to eat? By the way you explained, i think you went to a vet that isnt really specialized in pets likes cavies. Your GP could have been better with antibiotics or intestinal bacterial supplement. You could have tried to feed her lots of alfalfa and timothy hay as well, as these hay have lots of healing nutrients and will help harden the poo back to its normal form. But its tad bit too late sad.gif

Your GP was becoming weak most probably of the lost of appetite.. Which vet did you take your GP to? Coz im wondering now... did the vet diagnose your GP properly.. coz when GP's get really weak can be from many different factors.. not just diarrhea..

Deworm is just giving liquid to your babies.. i think around RM11-15 per GP. Very affordable..

Hahahah i never technically ask dr jenny wat the name of the liquid is.. Even when i deworm my glider oso dint ask XD maybe u can ask her for us ^^

Just tell her wanna 'deworm' she will know~ usually she will offer deworming for most of the pets there.. Practicing deworming every 3 months is a good thing ^^

Dont worry feon.. she is very experienced ^^
