If x and y are the roots of the equation 2x^2 - 3x + 4 = 0, find the value of:-

i) x^2 + y^2
ii) 1/x + 1/y
iii) Hence, construct the quadratic equation with the roots x^2 + 1/y and y^2 + 1/x.

can't even get the x^2 + y^2

i) x^2 + y^2
=(x+y)^2-2xy
=(SOR)^2-2(POR)
=(3/2)^2-2(2)
=-7/4

ii) 1/x + 1/y
=(y+x)/xy
= SOR/POR
=(3/2)/2
=3/4

iii) x^2 + 1/y and y^2 + 1/x.

(x^2 + 1/y)+(y^2 + 1/x)
=(yx^2)/y+(xy^2)/x
=(yx^3+xy^3)/xy
=x^2+y^2
=-7/4

(x^2 + 1/y)(y^2 + 1/x)
=[(yx^2)/y][(xy^2)/x]
=(xy)^3/xy
=(xy)^2
=4

x^2+(7/4)x+4=0
4x^2+7x+16=0

I thought we find the vale of "x" from this equation ? 2x^2 - 3x + 4 = 0
Then from there, we get the value of X ( 2 values since its ^2 ) to sub as X and Y.
But cannot solve the equation.

(x^2+1/y)(y^2+1/x)

= (x^2)(y^2) + x + y + 1/xy

= 4 + 3/2 + 1/2

= 6

Product of root = 6

Sum of root = -7/4 + 3/4 = -1

X^2 - (sum of root)x + (product of root) = 0

X^2+X+6 = 0

Hence, construct the quadratic equation with the roots x^2 + 1/y and y^2 + 1/x

(x^2+1/y) is 1 root

(y^2+1/x) is another root

so u times them both to get product of root

i think probability aint as hard as distribution though

sketching graph part aint tough but the part a) where u need to make the trigo equal to one another or making it into a product

always confuse as i dont remember the formula
