Anyone here do your own oil change ? I always do my own oil change since my uncle advice me years ago to do it DIY because the service station don't do it properly. I always change my oil every 5k religiously. I usually drain the used oil in the night and add the new one in the next morning. It is not hard to do once you get use to it. What do you do with the used oil ? I hope you don't throw it inside the longkang...

To change the oil filter I use oil filter pliers which I bought at RM 30 if I'm not mistaken.

I do this to make sure the old dirty motor oil completely drain out. If you wait for 1 hour or so, you can still see the used motor oil continue dripping out from the crankcase. So to make sure the old oil completely drain out, you need to wait several hours before refilling with new motor oil.

highly doubt that the car engine can run without engine oil... hmm.gif

I did oil change by myself...
i take almost whole day for whole process to ensure all the used engine oil drain out from engine...
about the the disposal engine oil, i will pour back into empty engine oil bottle and send back to mechanic shop later...
about the oil filter wrench + L shape metal steel bar, we can get it easily below RM20 from spare part shop and DIY hardware shop... the wrench on oil filter just RM5-8 from spare part shop... the L shape metal steel bar around RM10 i think from DIY hardware shop... the pic below is the parts that i used for engine oil change previously...

all i know is that those used engine oil can resell it again to some ppl..also those workshop ppl will be happy to take it in for you..if u are kind enough..u can give it to schools too..they need them to draw those track line during sport day..

also 1 thing that make me worry is that if u leave the car engine empty overnite..won't you scare that those mist or water might enter??

I got to say that is is quite hard to make oil change for Kancil because you have to open the car plate number in order to change the oil filter. I have never seen your oil filter wrench before locally. I thought this type of wrench only sold overseas... hmm.gif

if lazy to remove plate number...normaly use 10mm wrench or screwdriver only wat..

then u open ur bonnet n wear glove, open oil filter thru the extractor there...its pretty easy but caution of hot. cover extractor wit piece of cloth to prevent burn
