NOTE:THIS IS FOR THE XBOX 360 VERSIONS OF GAMES.PM ME IF YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT WII,PS2 AND PS3

i'm doing this because of the fact that there are too many people that are wasting money not knowing what works with what.
what really annoys me is when someone buys a Rock Band set, then a Guitar Hero World Tour set,not knowing that the RB set was compatible.

let's begin,shall we?

Guitar Hero 2 X-plorer:
Now this is a great guitar IMO.I think it's the best since next to the SG.
This guitar works with all games that have guitars in them, which include Guitar Hero 2,3,Aerosmith,World Tour, Metallica, 5, Van Halen, Band Hero, Smash Hits, Rock Band 1,2,and Rock Revolution.

Guitar Hero 3/Aerosmith Les Paul:
I know most of you probably have this.
Just like the X-plorer,this works with them all.

Guitar Hero World Tour/Metallica Generi-caster:
If you ask me,I find this guitar to be very annoying, with the touch pad to be so close to the regular frets.
This one OFFICIALLY works with all games like stated above.

Guitar Hero 5/Band Hero Same-as-the-World-Tour-One-caster
Exactly the same as all the World Tour guitar, but it feels better. Works on all games.

Rock Band 1 Stratocaster:
I personally find it to be VERY strange, but it's compatibility is rather interesting.
This one works with all games, except for Guitar Hero 2 and 3.Strangely,it works with Guitar Hero Aerosmith on the PC,and Guitar Hero Aerosmith on the PS2.

Rock Band 2 Stratocaster:
Not much to say. It's practically the old strat with wireless signals and a new paint job.
Same compatibility as the above.

Beatles Rock Band Bass
Exactly the same as RB1 and 2, but seriously though, do you really want to be playing Through the Fire and Flames on a bass like that?

Rock Band 1 Drums:
Flimsy, but they are functional.I like these a lot.
They work with all games with drums, which are Rock Band 1,2,Guitar Hero World Tour, Metallica, Smash Hits, 5, Van Halen and Rock Revolution.
To use these drums in Rock Revolution,go to the Options menu and change 7 notes to 5 notes

Rock Band 2 Drums:
They seem to be better, but they tend to give out more problems than the first.Still,it's kinda cool.
Like the above, they work with all drum games.
To use these drums in Rock Revolution,go to the Options menu and change 7 notes to 5 notes

Beatles Rock Band Ludwig Drums
No difference from the RB2 drums in terms of compatibility.

Guitar Hero World Tour Drums:
These are strange, unless you're ONLY playing them with World Tour.
They work with all drum games, with certain switches.
For Rock Band games, from left to right, you have the red snare, yellow cymbal, blue tom and green tom.The orange cymbal doesn't come to use.
It feels awkward when the red turns into a hihat like Run To the Hills or Everlong.
To use these drums in Rock Revolution,go to the Options menu and change 7 notes to 5 notes. As these are not Rock Band drums, this is only a lucky guess to make it work like playing on Rock Band

Rock Revolution Drums:
The worst drums. For collection sake,I'll put it's compatibility, but do yourself a favour and DON'T GET THIS ONE.
Like the World Tour drums, these should work with all games, but we aren't sure about Rock Band 1.This is because the drums aren't even out yet for anyone to test them.

ION Drum Rocker drums:
Probably about the BEST drum set ever.
Though they work with all games,we don't know if they work with Rock Revolution.None of my friends tried it yet, because it's too expensive. But they have officially been stated to work with Rock Band 1,2 and World Tour.

Band Hero drums
Apparently these ARE the Guitar Hero World Tour drums.

LAYMAN'S TERMS: ALL INSTRUMENTS WORK WITH ALL GAMES, EXCEPT FOR THE ROCK BAND GUITARS WHICH SUCK ANYWAY

PLEASE DO NOT POST IF YOU'RE GOING TO SAY THAT YOU ALREADY KNOW THIS,BECAUSE THERE ARE STILL SOME PEOPLE THAT DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE COMPATIBILITY

I will update this as soon as I find any changes.

We dont need a thread for every single question people is asking.
Just put it at the 1st page of the Guitar Hero 4 thread.

Kinda bored with all the technical threads we are having in the Xbox section.

yeah but this isn't just for world tour.
i'm including rock band, guitar hero and rock revolution games.

so as the title suggests, anyone wanting to find out compatibility for any game would come here, whereas not all rock band players would visit the guitar hero 4 thread.

playing guitar hero aerosmith with the strat is weird.

The compatibility list is god-send as was thinking of getting the full band set for GH:WT and just getting the Rock Band and Rock Band 2 game but unclear if the instruments were compatible. THis clears things up...THANK VERY MUCH!!! biggrin.gif

Here's a simple chart from MY point of view....

Guitar Hero: World Tour (when it works) > Rock Band 2 > Rock Band

And the PS3 version works with Rock Band 2 now..... after the patch.

Added on November 29, 2008, 5:08 pmThis is what I found at a website:
"An interoperability patch to allowing the ability to play the Guitar Hero: World Tour drum kit with Rock Band 2 on PS3 has finally been released, and I can now give my full impressions of the two sets of virtual skins."

Nothing special in Aerosmith face plate. Just a simple and ugly design for me. They just promote Aerosmith band. Hehehe

The guitar that comes with the PC version of Guitar Hero 3 is actually the Xbox X-Plorer guitar, NO DIFFERENCE.

That means, if you have a wireless receiver, you can use all your Xbox guitars on PC.

WT PC is a different story, because I heard that it uses PS3 controllers, but my Xbox Rock Band guitar worked fine on it.

Thanks for bringing this topic back up though, there is still too many people confused about the compatibility of these controllers.

You're gonna have to buy them online, but they're awesome from what I heard.
They're supposed to have the rebound of a V-Drum set.

You could always buy a V-Drum kit at hook it up to a WT drum set. It works with all games, but I'd recommend different settings with Guitar Hero games and Rock Band games, it could get disorientating.

Check out the Band Hero or Guitar Hero World Tour set, they have two cymbals at the top which are placed at the same positions, but the one on the left is normally the hi-hat and the one on the right is normally the ride/crash.
