ok dudes and dudettes. after much drama with my gainward 4850 sent back for warranty purposes, the dealer asked me if i would accept a gainward, but this time nvidia 9800gt golden sample 1024 mb. so... the question is... is it worth it? am i losing or gaining anything from this swap?

but from what i can see in reviews, the two are marginally close, the difference being 1-2 fps at different resolutions

ok, i think we can go back and forth on this thing till the end of time, but try to be objective about this (not that i`m implying you`re a fanboy or anything), and tell me if i should bust a cap in my dealer`s knee for screwing me over with this nvidia/ati gainward thingie.

the thing is, i don`t get a refund. so i`m guessing the dealer is trying to bend me over the table with this deal. aaight... i`ll take the advice of the pro on this one. thanks alot for your time, pikacu.

Hey dudes and dudettes. It`s me again. I have a quick question for y`all... I`m looking for a mobo to match my 4850 GS (yes, that`s right, i went to the dealer and put my foot down so now i get to be upgraded from GW 4850 non GS to GS version).

I`m not trying to do Crossfire, and it has to be with DDR2, since i heard that DDR3 is not much of an improvement but with big difference in price. Oh yeah... and i have a C2D E7300.

Hey doods... and Serigala just got my brand new silver heat pipe 4850 GS. yeeey. works like a charm with the new 8.11 Catalyst buuuut... as always I have a problem. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to set the display on my tv. it shows black. i`ve tried everything: clone, extend, even each PAL settings on the list but the tv still shoes black. Now, i know the tv-out is not broken, since the booting process does display on the tv (mobo boot logo, windows xp loading) up until the part i have to sign in my user account. then, the tv goes black again. the lcd works perfect, the tv... not so much.

Any of you guys... and Serigala encountered this problem?

nope. still not working 1280x1024 on the lcd and 1024x768 on the tv

I`ve tried that too. but as i said: the tv is shown on the list of devices, only no picture.

I could try the 8.10 Catalyst but i`m affraid i`ll lose my FarCry 2 maxed out settings

Celciuz, i`m guessing it has to be an issue with 8.11. i already had problems with two outputs (monitor+tv) and now i`m noticing something weird in FarCry2: the FPS diminuish after long periods of gameplay (3h+) and shadings dissapear. hope the next catalyst will have better understanding of the ATI hardware

like the plants? this is from Farcry 2 btw on the wonderful 8.11.

too bad about this wonderful card... (4850 GS)

you`re right rd33. i changed the AA settings to 0 and everything returned to normal. the weird part was that i had AA enabled before, (i didn`t change anything since i started playing the game) and nothing like that happend. strange...
