You just drive towards the town. You should notice some shops at your right hand side. There is a Chinese Restaurant. Can't remember the exact location.

just got bck frm PD.. did quite a lot for 2 days 1 night. went to Teluk Kemang to join the saturday crowd. looked for the hotels there but either too expensive or too budgetted.

went to Tanjung Tuan and walked up to the light house. did some trekking down to the beach and to Pulau Intan (i think that's the name). the trek is really steep.

finally checked in at Seri Malaysia.

The rooms are ok. but the pillows smells and got ants in the room crawling. there is a small swimming pool in the middle. parking is bad coz if it is crowded there wont be enough space to park. cross the road and the beach is great in the evening.

at night went to the pasar malam to walk about and did photo shooting.

sunday visited seremban, bought some siu pau and head back to KL.

managed to skip all the tolls by using federal roads smile.gif

Try El Cactus restaurant in PD, they serve good mexican food. Or you could try this Chinese Restaurant near the temple, not too sure how to describe where it's located but you have to pass by Bayu Beach Resort and you'll see a few restaurants on your left.

I am interested in staying here too.. got some packages to spend

But seems like besides water sports, there's pretty nothing much to do dry.gif

And the beach.. seems like kinda dirty from what I hear.. maybe 1 day is more than enough to spend in PD...?

I just came back from Legend over the weekend. I do like that the place is relatively new so the rooms, bathrooms etc. are still in good shape. Rooms are also pretty large. However, there is no beach whatsoever, you have to drive some way out to get to the beach. The overall ambiance is also like a typical hotel, nothing special. Food is ok but not much close by, PD isn't known for great food.

Personally I would spend a bit more and go to Avillion instead, the overall landscaping and environment is nicer.

I was at Legend with my in laws, plus my kids got sick while we were there so we ended up not doing much. Spent some time at the pool and walking around the water chalets, went out to dinner at a seafood restaurant at PD town, went near the beach at Batu 5 (I think, close to Satay Kajang/Petronas area).

What I miss from Avillion:

- adults only pool, completely separate from the main pool
- petting zoo for the kids
- an OK beach close by that's reasonably well maintained, you can do your banana boat/jetski/parasailing without having to drive out

However I only paid RM300 for a pretty big room that easily fit my little family of 5, Avillion would've cost RM330-380.

eagle ranch can accomodate 500+ people. its where most of the corporations to their team building.
they have different styled themes. you can choose to stay in the red indian teepee for RM80 a night, or the western bandwagon or many other themes ler. alot of activities and the beachfront is not too far away. its peaceful and green. you can do your small friendship bonding with some activities like flying fox or swim in the pool.
you can go there to choose and purchase but be forwarned, if u go during peak season (school holidays, public holidays) u know what to expect la.

second that..
that time promotion, got few activities and stuff to do in the place itself..eg. canoe, beach volleyball, mini zoo etc.
but of course depends on ur budget also ler...Avillion is pricey lor, dunno abt The Legend though i heard they have the water chalets also.
The food in Avillion is also expensive but the buffet breakfast is okay and is inclusive i think..

If you can afford it, go for Avillion. I can't comment about the rooms as I hv not stayed there, but the surrounding view is really nice with some lookout point. Actually non guest are not allowed to roam around the chalet area but somehow I managed to do it discreetly. biggrin.gif The surrounding view of Legend is just so-so/basic. Room is nice and comes with open concept shower but that's about it. For me, Avillion wins hands down. Some Avillion shots here... http://www.pbase.com/tsbok/port_dickson . Hope this helps.

OK I've been to both. Avillion overall is nicer, it has a resort feel to it with nice surroundings and landscaping, several pools to choose from including one adults only pool plus the pools are open 24/7 so you can go skinny dipping at 3am if you want. There is a petting zoo for kids, with a peacock that goes around when it feels like it, you can play Wii Sports at the beach hut if you're bored of staying in your room/beach etc. The beach is also maintained by the hotel staff, so the sand is clean although the water is yucky. Breakfast is nicer at Avillion IMO. The open shower concept is nice for a day or two but stay there a few times and it gets old biggrin.gif

The down side is the place is old, I first went there back in 1998 I think and it hasn't really changed much in 10 years although the place has been refurbished over time.

Legend is much newer and also much bigger. There's only one pool and they don't bother much about landscaping. The rooms themselves are nice and big but it feels very much like a regular hotel, not a beach side resort like Avillion. Most of the water chalets are made of concrete so it feels sturdier.

On the down side there's no beach at Legend. There's a huge construction project next to it, which is an eyesore if you're on that side of the hotel. The hotel attracts tourist by the bus loads, but because of the size of the hotel it doesn't feel full.

Overall if the price is the same I'd go to Avillion. I've been to Legend only once and don't plan to go there again. I've been to Avillion since 1998 and will continue to do so.

Apparently Legend is the rip off version of Avillion.
My friend working in PWC went to Avillion first then went to Legent for their conference. She told me that Legend is a total rip off. They copy the Avillion ads. It doesn't even come close to Avillion standard. Well, their agent must have con them la! lol

actually the best room is water villa, they got 1bedroom water villa and 2 bedroom water villa, if u want to go for honeymoon, my advise is at least go for premium water chalet or best of all, choose the 1bedroom water villa.
i hv voucher to save ur money, do call me if u want

Bro,

Drive there lor... What you mean how to go there by? lol
Avillion is famous for their Water Chalets. Go for the Water Chalets! They are those on the water!
The other rooms are nice also but you don't get to be on the sea. Premium Water Chalet I think it means
no obstruction... you get the Sea frontal all to yourself.
Not sure about the price. Call them up! It could be cheaper during non busy months!

Saturday got Night Market! And you wouldn't be bored in Avillion cause you just feel like lazying around all the time.

ayumi takashi,, are you working for legend water chalets?
If you are, I think one of my colleagues contacted your company for quotation for our company outing..give us nice rates k wink.gif lol
*
Bro... don't go for Legend man!
Friends from PWC went there and it's awful.
The year before they went to Avillion and this year they went to Legend.
They said it's a rip off version. But if it fits your budget then ok la.

Need how many day advance booking from you?
Do I still check in thru the reception? or you provide the key and I just walk in?
How do I pay? thru the hotel or directly to you?

hye there!

got room service, we'll provide towel etc
u can use all da facilities in legend (pool, jacuzzi, sauna, gym n lots more)
only u cannot order foods from ur room coz got no telephone inside da chalet

u bank in rm50 deposit 2 my acc n balance pay when u check in dat time
gimme a call when u reach legend n i'll pass u da key
dis chalet is private unit not owned by management
so u can check in anytime n check out anytime
price also much cheaper
u can refer 2 legend's website n compare da price

trust me.. u won't regret stay in legend wit paying dat kind of amount

thx ya!

Not saying you. She was refering to the Advertisement on the newspaper.
She said it look like Avillion that's why they booked it.
And it's not just the room.
Cause they stayed in Avillion the year before so the common area and the atmosphere in Avillion was great.
Obviously they had the same expectation of Legend. But then they know they get what they pay for!
No offences to you room. They are probably well kept. Hope your friend can sell them.

Haven't been to Legend, but Avillion is the best RESORT i went so far.. quiet, relaxing.. i prefer the garden chalet (1st floor) which is more calm and can overlook all the water chalet since it's in higher ground.... water chalet a bit noisy as the wave keep on making noise under your chalet..

hi, i'll be staying at tiara bay resort (TBR).. this 30th sept.. so my plan is:
1. go PD from seri petaling @ 7.00am
2. once reach there, straight head for swimming pool (allowed?)
3. play until afternoon 2pm like that and check in hotel
4. about evening 4pm go seaside for sightseeing
5. until sun set, go back TBR and makan drool.gif

is there any flaw in my planning? since im staying in TBR, any nearby nice beaches that i can easily access to?
from what i see in GPS map, eagle ranch is the nearest.. i've also been told that the beaches in telok kemang and batu 8 is nicer?

There are alternative way going to PD bypassing the NSE tolls but abit slower-lah...use the LDP-Putrajaya Highway>F1 circuit>Sepang>Lukut>PD

Yes heard about the TBR "water theme park"...Ok-lah stay & got free Sunway Lagoon experience biggrin.gif ..Probably 1 day I will booked there too..Do share your experience at the resort... rclxms.gif

BTW, there is another long lost attraction at Pasir Panjang - i.e The Batu Bersurat....somewhere here: N2 26.307 E101 58.018 . I hv been to this real Batu Bersurat long time ago when there is no bridge linking Sg Linggi to Melaka...but after the completion of the bridge, no one using the road & the Batu Bersurat also forgotten..so sad.. sad.gif

1. You will reach PD in 1.5 hrs - 2 hrs time ...
2. You may check in and leave your luggage with the counter before you head to the pool. Otherwise you may ask for early check in if they have empty rooms.
4. Do you mean Teluk Kemang if I can remember the name ?

Teluk Kemang is quite polluted already...
Go straight ahead more until u see "blue lagoon" or "army base" signboard turn right and go straight u will reach blue lagoon.
Its more cleaner there, but still its not far from teluk kemang actually..

The light house is just beside blue lagoon..there's a hotel nearby the trail entrance...Expect to walk on foot for about 20minutes up the hill.

Yes Blue Lagoon is right choice...But the beach abit rocky if I'm not mistaken...A real white soft sandy beach will be the beach located near Bayu Beach resort...I think local called this area "Pai Sar Tang" long time ago...not sure... hmm.gif

The pasir Panjang area is not a beach..The end of Pasir Panajang if I'm not mistaken is a camp (In MSM it's Akademi belia?) Those beach further than Blue Lagoon are very rocky & painful without shoe.. sad.gif ...The Batu Bersurat is located inland on the way to Pedas/ Ramuan China...If u are really those like history and u hv read about the Batu Bersurat, than it will interest you.. biggrin.gif ..BTW I think the location is even further than what I given earlier..it's somewhere further North at N2 26.883 E102 00.956....It's in Google Earth indicated as Megalith Pengkalan Kempas

came back today but somehow, blue lagoon was dissapointing.. look at the map that i attached, we went to the "A" side because there wrote "pantai xxx" but all i saw was dirty ocean, rocky beach and people catching fish although it already wrote clearly no fishing activities allowed lol..
or did i eventually went to wrong place? but it did wrote tanjung biru on the signboard..
in the end, we went to pantai saujana, near avillion resort which was okay with the sandy beach but dirty water lo whistling.gif
then next day, i came across teluk kemang with alot of people drool.gif went there, notice the water was cleaner although the sand was not soft.. got various activities like bananaboat, jetski, shops, etc..
talking about hotel, the room rate was cheap and can accomodate 7 person easily.. they dont really care how many person will be in one room (officially, not legally tongue.gif ).. room was clean and way larger than expected (Family Junior).. water park more suitable for children than adults though doh.gif
breakfast in TBR was another dissapoinment with oily food, tasteless drink and so on. In fact, swarms of flies flying around the whole pd everywhere we went doh.gif
all in all, it was a pleasant and relaxing but tiring experience cool.gif

a) to PD i not sure but u can take KTM go Seremban and walk to the bus station which provide you transportation to PD

b) there is a lot of hotel located by the coast of the seaside depends on your budget..

c) u have to go to PD town which is 5 minutes away from the PD coast ... driving is allrite ... Restaurant to eat there is few onli , but u can drive down to Lukut to find restaurant which is next to PD ... few minutes away coz one road connected only..

d) ask the hotel u stay in ..

*
i stayed at the Water Chalet wor..can't hear the waves also o_O unless u open the sliding door lor..or if u go inside the bathroom but then at nite is low tide wert o_O no waves la char dou doh.gif

haha.. i just came back from Avillion.. Cant get rooms initially but got the vouchers from Dreamaker. Highly Recommended Seller. very responsible and helpful... and he help me got a PREMIUM WATER CHALET!!

nice nice... rclxms.gif rclxms.gif i would go there again during Xmas..

pictures below! Click to Enlarge!!

Attached Image

The water chalets.. if low tide.. sure very not "song". no water at all..., so if u can afford, go for premium. which is the furthest chalet overlooking the sea.

Attached Image

this is the one thing i like about avillion. ADULTS ONLY pool. far far away from the cafe and restaurants and also from the Kids&Adults pool.
but it would be nicer if there is a bar there. very good services.
quiet as only adults are there. so everybody just mind their own business.
no splashing of water no laughing loudly.. no kids crying.. etc..

Attached Image

Sunset directly outside our chalet. right infront of our balcony!

Attached Image

Sunset again...

Attached Image

Food at Crow Nest Restaurant. their Dress Code restaurant.

Attached Image

Braised beef cheek!

Overall, at the Resort we paid around RM 1000.. including 3d2n at Premium water chalet, One dinner that cost around RM 260, one buffet supper around RM 60..

the vouchers from Dreamaker is RM 380.. guess we still save some money!

eagle ranch can accomodate 500+ people. its where most of the corporations to their team building.
they have different styled themes. you can choose to stay in the red indian teepee for RM80 a night, or the western bandwagon or many other themes ler. alot of activities and the beachfront is not too far away. its peaceful and green. you can do your small friendship bonding with some activities like flying fox or swim in the pool.
you can go there to choose and purchase but be forwarned, if u go during peak season (school holidays, public holidays) u know what to expect la.

which beachfront are you referring to? how far away is it from eagle?

If no, is there any other nice beach with wash room nearby? Don't 1 to make the car dirty mah, lol...

*
How come Blue Lagoon don't have website, any pictures to share?

Am looking for a place to have gathering with friends, prefer a clean beach, i won't expect nice sea, but it's better if there's no "black thing" around the border or not much rubbish... sweat.gif

I'm planning to visit PD for a short break during mid of January 09. I have do survey about the resort and some activities and good food location. I decided to give a try either Legend or Avillion. Which one is worth and great value?

Legend Deluxe Water Chalet (250+250) = RM500
Avillion Water Chalet (410+410) = RM820

There is big different with both of it. Is it Rm300 is enough/worth to cover excitement/relaxation which I can get from Avillion? Or just save Rm300 and go to Legend which is the same as Avillion? I need opinion... smile.gif

My objectives : Relax with most of my time enjoying sea breeze/pool and also my room.

Putraskyline, read the previous few pages, lots of recommendations there. My take (again):

- Avillion has multiple pools (2? 3?), one of them is an adults only pool which is very quiet. Good for relaxing
- Avillion's pools are open 24 hours. Good for skinny dipping if you're the shy type.
- Avillion actually has beaches on both sides.

Haha I hope you meant "Avillion is more worth it" up there, not Legend.

So yes, I recommend Avillion 100%. In fact I'm probably going to go there in the next few weeks to relax too. Take time off work biggrin.gif

Good luck, have fun!

the room for Avillion Water Chalet and Premium Water Chalet are exactly same but difference in location.
water chalet locate near the land while premium are far from the land
during low tide, the premium type would still set above water, but water chalet nop.
Water chalet have partial seaview from balcony while premium type enjoy the full uninterrupt view.

Owh...Thats mean water chalet have partial seaview and another partial was other people room? So I guess, the better room are premium right?Becoz the rates are different about 60-80 ringgit per night.

Well I am quite an expert in PD as my kampung is there. If you are talking about seafood, I must say that I only go out to eat Tomyam Seafood.. and the restaurants are not in town but rather on the stretch of road that lead miles south of town towards where everyone in PD lives at. Got a few tomyam restaurants like Nasreen Songkhla Seafood, and Jimat Restoran, they are all by the roadside and if you go at night there should be quite a number of cars parked there so you shouldn't miss it!

Legend are better access to food at lukut;
zhang ji seafood,
curry bun chicken,
ah shui bak kut teh.

while admiral cove are better acess to;
yue guang restaurant (operated by taiwanese),
xing wang seafood,
tbr anna thai restaurant.

its depend to what food u're regarding to, and yet its only few miles away between legend and admiral.

my sis in law went there last month. it is advisable to bring mosquito repellent there.
not sure what bugs or mosquito bit her face, came back a lot of tiny red dots on her face. it is not itchy but very visible.

Quite OK, not to say very expensive. A steak is around RM 25-RM 30, OK?
Dined there before, not bad but lots of mosquitoes. laugh.gif

Didn't know it was popular over here. smile.gif

Avillion Admiral Cove is nice. biggrin.gif New hotel in Port Dickson, they built a new phase of hotel for that.
My eldest sister works there as one of their Executives.

Avillion Water Chalet, been there and stayed. Very nice. thumbup.gif
Legend Water Chalet, been there and stayed there too. But cannot be compared with Avillion.
My second sister was an employee for Legend Water Chalet. smile.gif
I had access to Avillion Water Chalet because my eldest sister works for them. smile.gif

Now my second sister has resigned and went over to Le Paris.
Yeah, my whole family is related to the hotels in PD. sweat.gif

Not forgetting, my family is into foods and beverages business too in PD. laugh.gif

you better think it twice!! hmm.gif

hi there! wanna ask if got any good camping site in PD. our church youth group is going camping for June school holidays. We got about 40 ppl, 3 days 2 n, budget is around RM50/person(whole trip, exclude transport). We asked about Methodist Centre but they are fully booked. NUBE is too expensive (halls are rented out per hour, we need it most of the time). anymore places ah?

thanks!

Any good place to recommend? 3 D 2 N, accommodation + Food + Class Room budget RM120. I know it is hard to get but I still try hard to find. Previous week I had one similar camp at Benum Hill, Raub. Only RM59 per night inclusive of Accommodation, food, meeting room + Kayaking and Flying Forks. Very cheap leh! Help me please. Thanks.

Been there last two days ago. Actually because of its vicinity, I went there frequently. Cheaper also. There are many lodgements there, but perhaps it's better if you make reservations first, especially weekends, because it is full pax there, especially during end of month, coz people just got their salary, lol

i went to port dickson before. i got pretty nice experience in SELESA BEACH RESORT.
the room is quite nice, and the most important is there got white sand beach. it is totally white with no stone at all. u can sleep horizontally on the beach without any stone on ur back

there got many services too.like swimming pool, ping pong, cycling, small garden, valley ball. the best part is there is some massager underneath the tree.

however, the price for me i thing kinda pricey, about rm250 per room for 2 person.

I am going again this Aug but with my bf to celebrate 3rd year anniversary. I hope can get this nice environment, but this time must be cheap.. We are student so dont plan to spend much

perferable hotel about rm160 max. and it is as convenient as selesa hotel, not so far from all the access place.

another question, how to go from melaka and how much is the tol?

anyone know the details pls suggest ya.. tq =)
guoman i stay before but too far. we dont wan to drive too far away as time very precious for 2 days 1 night..

Just back from Port Dickson.
Stayed in Hotel Mesra, located just before the Teluk Kemang beaches if you are driving from PD town.
Price at only RM78. They give 10% discount if you are a government servant.
Include a simple breakfast for 2 in the morning. Great budget hotel.

During the raya holiday, i stayed at Eagle Ranch Resort in Port Dickson.. Wow, something different as compared to other resorts found in PD.
Various type of accomodations provided. It resembles Cowboy feel with various fun-filled activities..eg canoeing, archering, paintballs, horse-riding, go-karting, swimming pool/jacuzzi/spa, volleyball/basketball, field to play foodball, Rock-climbing coming soon..
And this was the first time i went to PD, i did not even pay a visit to its beaches... as i was busy having fun with the activities (Eagle Ranch) besides taking lotsa photos there...

Planning to go PD on the 19th and 20th Dec, with a bunch of friends. Total will be 6-7 people including me.

I like avillion alot. But the price... Our budget for place to stay is around 60+ per night. We don't mind squeezing in a room.

And anybody knows about eagle ranch? If yes, how was it. Staying there quite cheap. RM199+ per night.

I am going next week, staying at The Legend International Water Homes.

http://www.legendiwh.com.my/

Each unit comes with a personal swimming pool. Price is attractive and reasonable for a 5 star hotel.

Just stayed at Thistle over the weekend. While I still prefer Avillion as a resort overall compared to Thistle, the beach and water at Thistle is actually ok, marginally cleaner than the water at Avillion.

Still I agree, PD water sucks especially when compared to the east coast or east Malaysia.

Legend you pay more per room, but have private swimming pool.......... btw how's the private pool ah? nice or not?

cos looking at photos and all, Avillion seems more cozy overall.

Private pool is like water tank lah. I paid 380 last weekend for Grand Pool Villa. Villa are big, private pool also can accommodate to 10 people but amenities, services and environment are so-so only. Design of the villa considered awesome lah if compared in M'sia.

Private pool is quite small for the deluxe pool villa. Two stroke from end to end. sweat.gif Max can fit 3 adults IMHO. For children or you and gf/wifey should be fine. Room condition is still quite new, but the water beneath the villa is really an eyesore shakehead.gif Paid RM575 for it including tax including of buffet breakfast. Room service food sucks, forget about it. Overall experience for bolehland standard should be considered ok la, I've seen worst. If you don't need the pool, consider Avillion.

I think Papa Chop Mama Grill is opposite of Yacht Club based on the description given up there.

I seldom pass by that side so not really know of its existence.

Talking about Seaview, somehow I think it is overrated. You can get better restaurants in other places (still in PD). smile.gif

No it's not opposite Yatch club. Its very near to the bagan Pinang Petronas & before the entrance/exit of Seremban PD highway. Or top bve exact at the corner junction of Tmn Eastern smile.gif

Here's the the exact GPS coordinate: N2 29.910 E101 50.345

Pretty new Food court where there are few more famous stalls such as Hj Samuri Satay Kajang & Bangi Kopitiam

For those without GPS here's the wikimapia map: N2 29.910 E101 50.345 . However the location was still empty & wth bushes.. biggrin.gif

I think Papa Chop Mama Grill is opposite of Yacht Club based on the description given up there.

I seldom pass by that side so not really know of its existence.

Talking about Seaview, somehow I think it is overrated. You can get better restaurants in other places (still in PD). smile.gif

Heya peeps,

Any place to recommend for a day use of the hotel room for tomorrow? I think I stayed at the Thistle before for day use while it was still the Guomane but they seem to not offer it anymore.

Anyone can offer advice or suggestions?

Thanks

I have been to Thistle on the day after New Year celebration. Very good hotel, comfy room and good places to relax and unwind.

I just got back from PD, stayed at Legend Water Chalets. It's a really nice place, perfect for a romantic getaway.

Also I recommend Yuan Xiang for chinese dinner, it's near the chinese temple heading towards the trunk road to Malacca.

Sunshine Bay Resort PD. Room rates about 150 for studio suite. BBQ equipment have to rent RM20/use if I'm not mistaken.

Will be going to port dickson this coming weekend for 3 days 2 nights?
As I will be driving there, anyone can advise on the traffic condition there. Will there be jam along the road around port dickson.
Food,
Any good seafood to recommend in port dickson?
after my research I will be trying the following restaurant,
Lucky Restaurant
Weng Yin Seafood
El Cactus
PD eating point (anyone can let me know where is the exact location of PD eating point).

Place to visit,
Ostrich Showfarm
PD Zoo
Lukut Museum
Army Museum
Blue lagoon
Extreme Park
Cape Rachado (i read that no entry to car on the road leading to cape rachado, however some people still drove in. Are we allow to drive in, if not, where should I park my vehicle).

Any comments please?

Cape Rachado. 20 yrs ago u can drive till the foot of the light house. & yeah now you can only park at the provided carpark near the entrance & opposite Ilham resort.

Walk uphil for ~ 1.5km to the foot of the lighthouse. Water surrounding the cape below the lighthouse is indeed crystal clear but u can't really go down. There are incidents of crocodile sightings here!

Thanks stimix for your feedback.

Visited Port Dickson during Good Friday for 3days 2 nights . Been to Cape Rachado, park my car and walk up the light house. Saw the sign no entry to unauthorized vehicle at the entrance but still saw people driving all the way up. The lighthouse was locked. I tried to climb into the lighthouse but was stopped by someone inside. They told me I have to have a permit to enter the lighthouse.

Below are the places I visited while in PD with the help of my Garmin GPS.

Day1
Reach Tuas checkpoint at 7.15am, was caught in the jam at Malaysia custom. Clear Malaysia custom at 8.45am
• Reached Lucky restaurant at Lukut at 12pm, wanted to try the curry chicken bun.
• Checked into Thistle Resort. Went to the beach at the resort.
• PD Ostrich showfarm
• Army Museum
• PD town, Billion and Oceanic Mall
• Weng Yin Seafood (the crabs was too small, RM20 for 2 crabs. Min. 2 crabs per dish)

Day2
• PD eating point for breakfast (western breakfast set)
• Went to Legend Water Chalets
• Extreme go-kart
• Cape Rachado
• Blue lagoon
• Reached El Cactus at 5pm (but was told that opened only at 6.30pm) so proceed to Seaview Seafood restaurant for dinner instead (RM45/kg for normal crab. Min. 2 crabs per dish).
• Night market

Day 3
• Kedai Makan NMS for breakfast (Laksa is good)
• Mini Zoo
• Dirty Mee at Lukut
• Home sweet home

My next trip will be Bukit Tinngi and Teluk Intan (after reading about all the nice foods in one of the thread here).

Can I know how many people do you guys recommend in one room?

You go all guys or mixed? Normal room can accommodate another roll bed. So if you don't mind to sleep at on the floor, 5 people are good to go with. Comfortable would be 3-4.

Mixed. I'm still wondering how many of us can fit into the room if none of us sleeps on the floor without adding the extra bed

Hi folks... I'm thinking of getting away for awhile. So i'm looking for cheap beachside chalets, something below RM100 per day. Something like this one in Cherating: http://kl4life.blogspot.com/2009/02/stay-a...ating-over.html

Anyone know of something similar to the one in that link, in Melaka, Port Dickson, Bagan Lalang, etc?

Thanks in advance!

just came back from a one day trip to Thistle... stayed at their standard room and i'm very impressed.

The bed is very comfy and humongous. It's like 2 queen beds joined together. To give you an idea how huge it is... i'm 188cm and normally when i sleep on any hotel beds, my legs will be sticking out like a sore thumb... This bed however, i still have like maybe 10 cm more space lengthwise... width.. dun need to talk di... two of us sleep... and still got like tons more space left....

Food is quite good and not that expensive. had dinner at Glass (italian restaurant) and the service is impeccable. The food is good too.. ordered pepperoni pizza and lagsana (which was recommended by the waiter). 2 person meal came down to RM 70.. which is about KL price anyway.. Breakfast was good too at their restaurant.. Took the RM 20 per person add on and didn't regret it. They make fresh pastries and bread there and then. smile.gif

Would love to go back there and stay for abit longer... But it was a good relaxing trip... just to clear the mind.

Hey I'm another Thistle convert too, after years of going to Avillion only. The only complaint I had was the reception ie. if there were a lot of people then it gets confusing because some people would be sitting and others are standing and nobody knows who's next.

Otherwise it's great, was there over the weekend as well and enjoyed it!

Edit : Mine was corporate rate but I think normal internet rates also around that.

Normal internet rates is ~RM310 for seaview deluxe room. Even with breakfast etc. it's still cheaper than Avillion.

Avillion feels nicer as a resort, walking past the trees, along the path etc. However the rooms are old and the restaurants are just bleh after awhile. I converted to Thistle last year and have never looked back.

Hi fellas,

Thinking of possibly going to PD end of next week(weekday), 4 adults + 2 kids. Tiara Beach looks interesting, any feedback on the Family Junior room?

Or any other places to stay I can consider with the 4 adults + 2 kids configuration?

just came back from a one day trip to Thistle... stayed at their standard room and i'm very impressed.

Hi,

Am looking to book a room at Thistle after reading recomendation here. Can 4 adults squeeze into a standard room since it is 2 queens put side by side, as posted here by forumer? However, when I try to book thru internet, they say the standard room is only 1 king size bed. So, is it 2 queens or 1 king?

Also, which website should I go to book? There are like many "site" selling the room?

TQ a lot

i went to Thistle JB recently and it was very nicely refurbished hotel (formally Hyatt Regency).

so with that, I'm pretty confident you'll have a good time at Thistle PD. biggrin.gif

Just came back from PD yesterday.

Stayed at Paradise Lagoon Apartments (next to Corus): Clean but not spotless clean. Everything in good working condition and basic amenities/toiletries provided. Maintenance crew took about 10 minutes to arrive to send me batteries for the air cond remote as I was staying in block C. Air cond leaked slightly but I could not be bothered. Parents' next door unit all is ok (new air cond!!!) but the toilet ceiling has evidence of previous leaks. Grand view of the ocean. Beach is okay - fine sand, minimal rubbish* and affordable water sports. Use of Corus' pool but is damn polluted (murky water) by afternoon coz of the morning crowd who can even jump in withtout proper swimwear though big big sign prohibiting such. In summary, will be back as it is okay and daughter loves the beach and pool there. nod.gif

Food - Had my lunch at Pak Lang in PD town, KL food court prices but tastes sucks. Dinner at XiWang: Big 'hong cho' fish (abt 700gm) steamed Teochew style, 2 butter (big) crabs (rm39/kg), coconut prawns (this taste good!), fried potato leaves with dried prawns, kam heong bamboo clams, white rice x 5, fried rice x 2, herbal drink x 3. All in RM147 (all medium sized dishes except for the large fish). Lunch before I go back also at XiWang on parents' request. We had all medium dishes for kam heong lala, fried kangkung belacan, prawn omelette, fried calamari rings, butter mantis prawn, sweet and sour pork (of all things?!!!), 3 white rice, one fried rice and 5 iced tea for RM77. Dunno why the bill always end with a 7! In summary, will be back also as I liked the coconut prawns ler... drool.gif

* Day 1 only saw an ice cream wrapper and Day 2 only saw a mineral water bottle. This is extremely good liao. thumbup.gif Not many people at this beach one, which is a plus point.

Hi guys, im thinking of having a trip wit my gf to PD...thinking of staying in Avillion, RM 400 for the walet chalet...consider value for money right right? Lol.. Anyone know does it includes breakfast?

Also, I would like to request the help of all sifu sifuss here on recommendation on what restaurant to eat there. Something affordable yet nice, i'll be driving there so if you guys could give us the restaurants name it would be great!

Thanks in advance! rclxms.gif

Edit: Just realise there are some good reviews on Thistle, so between Avillion and Thistle, where do u guys suggest I should go? Note my gf dont really like to play water activities. Just want to have a peaceful holiday trip to relax. haha.

Just came bak from PD recently.
Stayed in Corus hotel for 3days/2nights.

Now my hands and legs itches ( i suspect bed mites/dirty sea water) , the hotel room is dusty & old , the aircond stinks ( i had to rub deodorant on tissues and then place it at the air cond ). Other than that , i guess its fine.

I'm planning to have a short getaway. I just need somewhere quiet to relax and maybe some places to stroll around / somethings to do when I'm bored. I'm wondering which do you guys / girls recommend, based on your experience;

1) Avillion Admiral Cove
2) Avillion Water Chalet
3) The Legend Water Chalet

Any PD locals here can help us out?

Which way? Via NSE or KLIA-Sepang way?

If KLIA, you can use maju express way till Putrajaya (RM4) & thereafter to F1 circuit via Putrajaya. Thereafter at F1 go towards Sepang>Lukut>PD.

IF NSE to Seremban, (RM7.70) & Seremban PD (RM3.20)

I'm going to celebrate Valentine's Day at Avillion P.D, bough the valentine's package that cost a whopping rm1.5k, hope it's worth it. Besides this my bf says I gotta submit a "agenda" proposal to him to review. He hates doing nothing, so I gotta find things out to plan n do during 3D2N stay there. Anyone can recommend anything? so far this is what I have sad.gif can anyone comment on it?

1. FIshing & Crabbing (and cooking it to eat)
2. Sunset Cruise & Fireflies watching
3. Island Hopping
4. Visit all the beaches in P.D (5th Mile, Si-Rusa Beaches (3), Bangan Pinang Beach, Telok Kemang Beach & smaller beaches around)
5. Cape Rachardo "Tangjung Tuan" (lighthouse there)
6. Blue Lagoon (surrounded by lush greenery and overlooking blue sea)
7. Eat Seafood!
8. Museum "Tentera Darat"
9. Forts (Lukut & Kempas)
10. Ostrich Show Farm (and get some ostrich eggs if possible & eat ostrich burger)

Time-Table:
Day 1 - Arrival
12pm - lunch around P.D
2pm - check in
3pm - sight seeing around Avillion
4pm - massage
6pm - fishing & crabbing (to rent fishing rod & crab net from avillion, can do until 11pm)
7pm - dinner at seafood restaurant of choice (to find out which one is good)

Day 2 - Valentine's Day
5am - sunrise watch & walking
7am - breakfast
9am - explore P.D (either free & easy or by package)
5pm - sunset watch
6pm - candle light dinner at crow's nest with band serenading

Day 3 - Goodbye Avillion, Hello Serendah!
7am - breakfast
12pm - check out
3pm - arrival at Serendah Glass Shed, Rawang

If staying in Avillion, might as well, spend most of your time inside the resort rather than wasting your time elsewhere in PD (esp the dirty beaches) .except:

Cape Richardo tracking- worth going but hv to walk up for ~ 30min or 1.5 km from entrance.

but the resort don't seem to offer much activities besides the petting zoo, crab catching, see ppl play music.. (we're opting out from water activities as he is somewhat allergic to staying in water too long)

I dun even dare to put my leg in the muddy water there biggrin.gif ..Just spend your time inised the room can dy..more romantic rather than going to all those nonsense places. Also Nothing great & nice in PD. You probably wanted to add the forgotten Batu Bersurat at Pasir Panjang on the way to Linggi & Pedas

QUOTE(tammylci @ Feb 7 2011, 02:57 PM)
but the resort don't seem to offer much activities besides the petting zoo, crab catching, see ppl play music.. (we're opting out from water activities as he is somewhat allergic to staying in water too long)

anybody knows if we can barbecue by the beach in PD?
i mean in any of the beaches, teluk kemang, blue lagoon, etc...
like bring our own barbecue set and start barbecuing? or have a campfire?
is it allowed? or are there special allocated places or have to get permission from somewhere?

Went to PD to this beach in front of Ilhan resort at Tanjung Biru. Was really surprised with the clean clear water compared to other beaches in PD. Other than the "unusual texture" of sand on some parts of the beach, I find it really good for a beach nearby KL. It's going to be my weekend getaway from KL when I need a dose of a good beach in a short distance. rclxms.gif

Check out the clearness:

Planning to go PD on 26 Mar. However, when I do a search for hotel, realize that a few of the hotels are fully booked. Does anyone know if there is any event going on in PD during this period? don't want to go there is it is too crowded.

if yes, will go on 2 April instead.

I don't think there's any particular event. It's just that PD is a fairly popular weekend getaway, not only for KL folks but also S'pore/Malacca. So the more decent hotels will likely be quite full. Did u try Legend?

went to teluk kemang, name for the place should be correct. very beautifully transformed. the place all cleaned up and have big pondok. suprisingly even on saturday its quiet. even have wifi! wow! see few people surfing net. the sand is very clean compare with Gold Coast which is very sticky and muddy...yuck. only thing is no tiny crabs might be bcos of the renovation since i suspect they add the sand

blue lagoon cannot compare since its dirty. didn't go to the light house since tired already

definitely will come back next 2 months

Hi just wondering after googling around, the I found 2 Go-kart activity in PD, one is roof top of Oceanic Mall in PD Town..

but another I'm not sure where it is, it says extreme park, I tried google map but no help. Then I found out its in Palm Spring Resort?? Then I google earth it but don't see any track, then I came across eagle ranch resort which I did see something that looks like a track..

so actually the extreme park is in eagle ranch or in Palm Spring resort?
One thing i notice is eagle ranch is far south of PD town at 14th mile while altho Palm spring address is 13th mile, its not very far north of PD town.. or is google map error?

Please stay away from Tiara Beach Resort, not worth it..
It is a cheap low cost apartment with some slide and man-made small beach in the middle.
Moment i step into the pool.. i step on small broken glass!.
Room are dirty, they give 4 packs of direct selling chocolate .. and ask u to buy more at lobby..
TV not working , antenna screw up or something.. call them to fix.. never came
No security , VERY dark corridor, use manual entry to your unit = any one can duplicate the key and can enter the unit..

Stay way from Tiara beach scam, go Thistle hotel..

** this place has no beach or even walking distance to a beach

just my personal reference. it may differ from yours.

water chalet... paid 650/night. just didn't think the room worth that much and really its not that all impressive. maybe just a slightly above average room because of the shower area only... to me the room maybe worth 300~350 only

no view... was facing someone else balcony
didnt like the window especially the one between outdoor shower & room. it was so bright early in the morning.
maybe i also went on the wrong time. it was crowded... it made it not that exclusive after all...

i've been into water chalet b4...their bathroom is big and open on top... when is raining, u can feel the raindrops while u r showering. anyway, i don't feel comfortable bathing there.

and the tide is always low....therefore the only time i feel that the chalet is on the water, is during the night time only

From Putrajaya, head towards Dengkil and from Dengkil follow the signboard to Salak Tinggi/Banting/Nilai. At the end of T-Junction you will se a 1/2 completed flyover (I think not open yet) turn right heading towards Banting/KLIA.

Immediately at the Bomba station & KLIA Masjid junction turn left heading to Klia/LCCT. at the roundabout take the left turn to LCCT/Sepang F1. Just b4 Sepang F1, turn left heading to Sepang town. Follow the signboard to Sepang & thereafter to Lukut- PD

yes just use google maps.. otherwise, use GPS. Too far to show you the route using google maps.

Anyway you can't get lost if you follow the signboard:

- From Putrajaya follow signboard to Dengkil but dun turn into Dengkil
- Follow signboard to Salak Tinggi/Nilai/Banting
- Thereafter to Banting/Sepang/KLIA (Dun goto Nilai)
- After you see 1st roundabout follow signboard to F1/LCCT or Cargo area
- Once see F1, follow signboard to Sepang/Lukut/PD
closer to Sepang, turn left & follow signboard to Lukut/PD

If you follow these signboard, you can't get lost..otherwise, invest in GPS or get an Nokia wth nokia maps/ Android/iphone wth papago X5

Interesting place is the admiral cove yacht club at 5th mile, the water is very blue and lots of small ships there. very beautiful.

PD world marina maintenance is very poor. The condos paint all peel off.

my family is planning to spend this weekend at PD, so i'm looking for a place to stay; an apartment type with 3 rooms. stayed at Ancasa couple of weeks back and very satisfy with my time there; decent sized apartment, easy access to the beach, pools and good enough breakfast. unfortunately, the apartments there with 3 rooms are fully booked. any other place having all those features recommended for me to check it out?

*
I found a cheaper way.

use maju expressway (rm 2.50) from bukit jalil

go all the way to KLIA

turn left to NSE and enter in nilai toll

exit at port dickson (rm 3.50)

enter port dickson highway (rm 3.20)

Any other recommendations for lunch in Lukut and PD?

thanks for all the replies, a bit late though. admittedly i myself tanya lambat already that time..hehehe

actually my in-laws only confirmed that we were going Thursday night. so really struggle to find a rooms or apartment, so had to go to uncle Google. and manage to find an apartment rent by Mr. Cheok at Corus Paradise. 2 rooms, 1 bathroom and decent living room size with sea view balcony and direct access to sea. for last minute arrangement, i was very satisfied with it

the sea was not all that good though, keruh sikit air dia. definetely Teluk Kemang was better. but that will do as the purpose of the trip was more towards family vacation. the time when the water was in the best condition was during morning time around 7 am. but obviously that was due to tak ramai orang even wake up already to go to the beach

Pls click on the below link.
This is the cheapest way that i can find as i often travel back to PD.

MEX Highway RM 4.00 (assume that u start from Kg Pandan entrance, if from Bkt Jalil shud be even cheaper)
U can even skip the Seremban - PD highway toll as well.

I took that route before, it was horrible ! Most of the road was only one lane and can cause accident easily.

Life is more important than money.

If I take route to nilai (north south expressway) after klia, then all the roads are highway.

rm 2.5 (mex), rm 3.5 (nilai), rm 3.2 (pd highway)

Huh ? It was that horrible to u ?
It is a single lane road but the road condition was quite good considering the road condition standard in Msia.

Here is the modified route. Single lane is dangerous bcos big bus from the other side can accidentally ram into you.

In the future, there will be a highway that link KLIA to port dickson.

http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=...4712&sec=nation

MALACCA: Plans to link up Malacca and Selangor through a coastal highway could see a West Coast corridor stretching to Taiping in the North and Johor Baru in the south.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said Malacca had proposed a highway linking the historical city to Klang in Selangor which would also pass through Port Dickson in Negri Sembilan.

“A proposal had been submitted to the Federal Government and we are confident of getting the approval because a proposed coastal highway between Banting in Selangor and Taiping in Perak has been approved,” said Mohd Ali.

He said the Malacca-Port Dickson-Klang coastal highway could even be linked up with the Banting-Taiping highway.

He also said the state would also propose the construction of a highway to link Malacca with Pontian and Johor Baru in the south.

Just want to share on my trip to PD last weekend and the apartment called Cocobay that we booked online was a total disaster. vmad.gif vmad.gif mad.gif vmad.gif

check out my Bloggy~~ to see the condition of the apartment

We totally cannot stay there. We left and ask for refund but was only told that no refund could be made even if we didn't even stay at that place. We only checked in less that half and hour!

Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

For 4 star or 5 star, most people recommend avillion admiral, legend water chalet and thistle but they are expensive.

For 3 star hotel, try Glory beach, tanjung tuan.

There is another one called corus but I heard a lot of bad reviews although on the outside, it is nice.

SEREMBAN: Two new toll-free highways will be built to reduce traffic congestion along existing expressways and bring more progress to the south-western part of Negri Sembilan.

One of the stretches will be between the KL International Airport and Seremban while the other will connect Port Klang with Port Dickson.

The Port Dickson-Port Klang stretch via KLIA was supposed to have been built under the Ninth Malaysia Plan but was deferred due to the regional economic slowdown.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the proposals have been submitted to the federal authorities, adding that, once completed, traffic would be reduced along the North-South Expressway and Federal Highway in Kuala Lumpur.

“Apart from helping to open up new areas along the stretch such as Sepang, Lukut and Salak Tinggi, it will also spur economic growth in this part of the state,” he said.

Both links would be dual carriageways.

The current distance between Seremban and KLIA via the North-South Expressway is about 65km while the distance from Port Klang to Port Dickson via the Federal Highway is about 150km.

Mohamad said the new stretches were also important as the state was now considered a “suburb” of the Klang Valley.

“The land cost for example is only a third compared to that in the Klang Valley. Opening up more areas will also take the burden off Klang Valley where land has become scarce,” he said.

He added the Seremban-KLIA stretch would not cost much as it would be built parallel to the existing trunk road. The cost is estimated at RM200mil.

He said the only missing link between the two points now were Gadong Jaya-Felda LBJ-Kualiti Alam-KLIA.

Mohamad said it would make good economic sense to have the direct links as it would cut travel time from Port Dickson and Seremban to KLIA.

You cannot bbq on the beach just beside a resort as it is reserved for hotel guest.

Try to find a beach that is not near resort as that is public.

If you have lots of money, then take grand lexis or lexis, heard it is 5 star hotel.

Another spot is avillion admiral cove, also a 5 star hotel.

I think the whole PD has disappointing beaches biggrin.gif Thistle to be honest is one of the slightly better ones, Legend/Nexis and Avillion are worse by comparison.

You need to go to the east coast to get good beaches unfortunately.

PD, what can i say, cheapest place to go..spend less then 100 on a trip there..heck i can even spend rm50 for a PD weekend trip/ provided i bring water/food from home biggrin.gif i think is more like a convenient place for klang valley..u can go there everymonth without burning ur pocket......

hate it when people compare it to islands in east coast..common guys, be more realistic......why not compare with maldives instead? doh.gif just accept between selangor/n9/malacca/west coast of johor, PD is the best/cheapest sweat.gif

When I talked about the east coast, I hardly meant Redang/Perhentian. Kuantan is 2.5 hours away (vs. PD's 1.5 hours away depending on where you are in KL). My usual in Kuantan is Swiss Garden which is roughly RM270 per night. My usual in PD is Thistle which is around the same price.

So for me and my budget, PD is *not* the best. I love PD, Avillion and Thistle especially but not everyone spends RM50 for a beach trip biggrin.gif

Seniors, advice needed.

I going to PD this coming Sunday and was supposedly staying at Sunshine Bay as they allowed us to BBQ at nearby beach in front of their hotel however today they informed me that their under renovation thus unit wont be ready in time.

So I would like to know any other hotel, apartment, resort able hotel guest to bbq at nearby beach? Do intro and within budget of RM250-300 ( 6pax ). Just for a night.

I think Avillion Admiral Cove got no access to beach right?

supposed to get Permaisuri apartment on 21st july cz they got 288 promo for 3 room apartment, but called thm up n they confirmed website got error, promo at melaka, and rooms at pd fully booked. crap!

so under 350, i've selected these 4, but not sure how far is the beach from the resort. If it is under 1or2 minutes walking distance then ok.

glory beach,
seri bulan condo,
paradise lagoon apartment
casa rachardo

Could anyone suggest which one we should go for. we're planning bbq by beach side, and might get noisy abit. i prefer something that is not too classy and not too shabby either.

Please give your suggestions/comments. Tnx

Hey, I'm planning on having a in-house party for about 20 person. What kind of bungalow would you recommend me? I've looked around thru Internet and I'm open to more options. I would prefer some place with swimming pool where we can blast the music the whole night without anyone complaining about it. Thanks. smile.gif

Avillion has a mini zoo with feeding time, kids sure Love it, also comes with jacuzzi pools. The 2 beaches beat Thistle by miles & the water chalet is smoothing with open bath room.

As for Thistle, there is water slide and a mini fountain pool, kids will like it too. The banana boat ice cream is gooding!

Both are baby friendly, bought my lil girl to both places since 1yo till now 6yo still go. Try check out different dates, Thistle's rate is half of AV PD.

Grand Lexis is nice too with private pool but a BIG minus is it doesn't have a sand beach  sad.gif
*
Is the AV water chalet's balcony has a slide door that can lock so that baby cannot simply go out and risk jump into the sea... ? Does the wave sound very loud after midnight that can disturb the sleeping time?

What is the mini zoo feeding time schedule?

I checked the rates online and I found both rates are quite similar. Which resort's beach is cleaner?

AV door can lock, so is Grand Lexis & Thistle, unlikely baby can open himself. Wave sound quite loud but it is smoothing & make you zz rather than disturbing.

AV mini zoo feeding time is around 10am or 10.30am, can't clearly remember because the timing is always ngam that I go right after breakfast, it is only steps away from the breakfast restaurant.

Thistle is expensive only if you book it late & on peak calendar. Try book early (e.g. 2-3 weeks advance) at Agoda for normal day e.g. School Holiday weekday, can get around RM220 nett/ nite, with break fast. Whereas the cheapest you can get for AV is nearly RM400 (for Garden Chalet, add about RM70-80 for Water Chalet). If your date is super flexible, buy 3D2N voucher from Matta fair can save a lot.

Thistle beach need walk pass the pool, ground, grasses, not that near to your room, maybe 3-5min walk if you count from the ground floor lift, but keep in mind that your room in up stair need take lift, end-to-end may take you 10-15min.

As for AV, there are 2 beaches both different end of the resort, depends on what room you get (but you may request for one that near beach). The one that beach is super near (almost in front of your room with < 1min walk) but the trade off is you have to walk farther to restaurant & zoo as it is located in the middle of both beaches.
*
I heard someone said book water chalet that room no starting with 900... because it is further away from the central location, I''m wondering is this 900 series rooms is nearby the beach?

Just to add, Thistle is just a hotel with beach & pool, nothing special but still I rate it better than all the other hotels except for AV. And the pub is super noisy till late nite that it disturb your zz, if you are a late person then no issue as I normally zz around 1am or 2am. I won't pay > RM250 for this hotel, not worth it.

I would rate AV as the best hotel at PD, follow by either Grand Lexis or Thistle (but Thistle is half price of GL), depends on you like private pool or beach.

AV Admiral Cove not bad too but I never go, normally I go the above 3.

My kid likes beach so I go PD 2-3 times a year, other than that I also go Penang, Terrenganu, & Kuatan (but I stop going since Lynas operate). In total I go local beaches 4-5 times a year & stay 3d2N or 4d3N.
*
I been to Thistle for 3 times these past 2 years and going again this coming CNY. The rates is getting higher and higher..this CNY I pay 400 plus for standard room w/o breakfast. I havent tried other hotels cause my kids insists on Thistle all the time. Is Grand Lexis/Lexis water chalet good to bring the kids around? (I love to pay off peak rates, but I can only travel on school holidays/public holidays period).

This coming year end school holidays, plan to take the kids to Kuantan for a change..any hotel to recommend?

room 900 is the farthest finger from the main building. it has a small beach, you might see a couple dine there brows.gif they're particularly easy to book. bcos the 300, 400 and 500 fingers are usually occupied by the taiwan/china/hk tourist

well there are other reasons why they're easier to book brows.gif but i guess you should check yourself
