im working in maxis,
so yea u could ask me anything with regards of maxis products,
and about the HSDPA, it depends,
let say u've switched on the HSDPA mode on your device,
and when u try to surf or something,
it'll show as 3G* (with a star)
that means, u're connected to HSDPA,
but that also depends on your location/area,
if its covered by 3G/HSDPA, then yes u'll be able to hook to those networks,
if not, it'll be on EDGE which is 2G or GPRS which is (1G)
but most areas in klang valley are covered by 3G/HSDPA
hope that answers everything,

smile.gif icon_rolleyes.gif
*
oh oh oh~~ sigh my area never see the 3G* but in major cities most of the time saw 3G but never H or 3G*

my area only got Edge at max..sad.gif~~~ argh near balakong there (jusco cheras selatan)

digi where got 3G maaa...
hahaha.
anyways, maximp dude, u're in balakong?
hahaha,
too bad, maybe that place is not covered
yet by 3G or the signal there is very weak,
*
sigh i got 3g..if i went somewhere near jusco haha

i even turn off my 3g service because when ever i get 3g signal in my area..my phone line signal drops only to 1 bar (very low), only at balakong though, when go other place no such problem with 3g ..so weird

I have seen the Omnia design and I realize it is like most of the Samsung phones - very vulnerable to scratches.

So how do you guys overcome it? I've seen those plastic hard cover on phones and seriously, i rather go buy a cheaper model than using those kind of cover.
*
seen the omnia and using the omnia giving a totally different feeling, actually many phone without a portector will vulnerable to scratches, name me a phone that doesn't scratches without using extra protection. but to tell the truth..omnia very tough, drop my phone few times but still work perfectly like always.

using a cheap screen portector would be enough to give ample protection to the screen, and its better to use higher quality though.

theres a lot of alternative to protect the phone,
1. using book type leather pouch (im using this)
2. slide in pouch
3. ZAGG full set that cover the whole phone
4. flip hard leather case (the most expensive luxury accessories)
5. crystal case AKA "plastic hard cover"

Wah... drop a few time, must be very heart breaking  sweat.gif

Ya actually I'm not so scared about scratching the screen because I've owned a w850 once and the screen can be considerably big for a phone of its time. The screen is still perfect after 3 years. I'm just afraid to scratch the shiny sides which I presume is painted and the paint can be easily scratch off.

Will the ZAGG full set make the phone look erm... cheap?

Got any pictures of Omnia phones with ZAGG full set? And which type of protection do you think is the best for protecting Omnia from scratches while still not covering or making the Omnia ugly?

Sorry for this fussy question  sweat.gif
*
ZAGG probably the best because its like wearing nothing..im using that one last time (for my other phone)

Wow... and so many people made a big fuss out of the resolution!
*
only problem i had with that screen resolution is...some games cannot be run properly due to the screen resolution

but if from the view of movie playback, the phone dont have any problem running high resolution files like avi and mp4 (smooth and no lagging), most video format can be run directly using coreplayer except for rmvb

I found the rmvb codec for WMP sometime ago but have not played a rmvb video as yet, thus I do not know whether this works.
*

hello,

need advice here. here we go.

i don't want to use any laptop again so can i switch to OMNIA or X1(or any other phone u recommend?) because i heard that this gadget is like PC-all-in-one.

i just want do basic task :

-browsing
-emails
-ym (IM)
-watching movies
-listening to music (FM too)
-download (P2P/torrent)
-Office suite
-read pdf files
-pay bills using Maybank2u

i'm a heavy internet user, wherever i go, online is a must. if all the basic task can do with OMNIA/X1/any, i'll grab one. i am eager to get OMNIA but im still aware of any cent i spent worthwhile or not.

thank you.
*
very agree with what jigon said, u gonna VERY REGRET replacing ur laptop to omnia or X1...i think overall omnia and X1 only good for the first 5 basic task for the sake of "portability" , anything afterwards like download, office , pdf and paying bill are better using laptop ...

i'm charging with adaptor.
btw i'm using HJ1
*
sorry just now dint read properly, i think its not ur firmware or not closing application, most probably because ur battery are not yet fully charged, try full charging ur phone for at least 8 hours (which reconmemded for any brand new phone out of the box) i remember my omnia battery had the same problem but its fixed about fully charging it

Can you try this. It appears the search function sux big time.

Mind telling me how to FIND say:

50 USJ 4/2 in Petaling Jaya

I know it exist but somehow

Where to ?> addresses > Malaysia > Spell City > Petaling Jaya > House Number > ENTER STREET says U ada US None USJ elek

How?
*
garmin not sux at all, only u duno how to use it properly, i often use it to search some area with particular address

go to address > select Malaysia > search all city > insert house number 50 > insert street name usj 4/2 > finish u found the place u want

there got shell and petronas and also 7-11 across the stress rite? at the road of usj 4/1 and around there got few school~

5.00.20w here too. how bout if u search "USJ" only? no result too?
*
if search usj only will come out every usj street~ for example usj 1/1 to usj 4/20~ etc

i using 5.00.10w~ lazy install new, another reason probably u dint use the correct malaysia map? is ur whole map dark color when viewing?

ahhhh no wonder. I reverted back to my older gmapsupp.img which is about 30MB instead of the the 45MB combined gold 2.9 and by some other crap combined map.
Now it's working fine.
Thanks all

Oh for helping me out heres a lil tweak to those who hv installed M2D on their beloved Omnia

Just an eye candy tip for you ( ignore it if you already know this )

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\nls\overrides
"IDate"=dword:00000002
"SDate"=" "
"SSDte"="ddd MMM dd yyyy"

This gives me Wed Nov 07 2007  date format

Oh try mastsogo software to change from Omnia Today to M2D on the fly - gives you both OMNIA and HTC on one awesome machine
*
yeah now it works eh~ good for u smile.gif
mastsogo? any more information i search google but still no idea what it gives..looks like m2d ~
