Kelantan lose home match by default

PETALING JAYA: The Kelantan FA (Kafa) have been punished for the postponed Super League match against KL Plus at the Sultan Mohd IV Stadium in Kota Baru on Jan 3.

Yesterday, the competitions committee awarded three points to KL Plus with a 3-0 victory margin by technical default because the home team had not made proper preparations on the venue to host the match.

The chairman of the Kelantan team management committee, Azman Ibrahim, said that he was shocked by the decision and would appeal against the decision because they had not called off the match.

“It is absurd to say we did not make preparations for the match. It has been raining non-stop since the New Year and we even sold tickets,” said a disappointed Azman from Kota Baru yesterday.

“We have informed the FAM and got confirmation that the game would be rescheduled to a later date. We had done everything within our powers to stage the game.

“We could not have the lines drawn on the pitch because it was water-logged. We could also not get the machines to cut the grass and we had to do it manually.”

Azman added that they were ready to host the match against Kuala Muda Naza on Saturday.
