Now i was wondering...
is HDMI connector that important as a factor to purchase new LCD..
based on what kianwee said...u can get a converter if ur lcd doesnt have a HDMI connector...
My question is...did any1 try this before here and did any1 notice any problems like... decreased the image quality or sumthing?i once heard bout by doing so..u actually lowering the quality transferred...

My opinion towards the Static Ratio and Dynamic Ratio is...
nowadays most of the NEW LCDs are equipped with a 1000:1 static ratio panel..so the thing left for comparison is the dynamic ratio...
Samsung no doubt is good playing with it....i dun really notice the difference between 15000:1 and 20000:1...but i did notice SERIOUS difference between 8000:1 and 20000:1....
the colour is much shaper...
so it is still worth comparing...

2nd thing i wanna highlight is...
you can NEVER EVER compare LCDs side by side in lyp (at least)
they NEVER tune the LCD before...NEVER adjust any settings.....they just plug and play....so its kinda meaningless to compare side by side...

an example is....say for samsung LCD...if the option was set to "text"..this will dim all the backlights and show a pretty poor quality..but if the option was set to "game" or "dynamic contrast" there will be a significant difference....
those buggers in LYP obviously doesn't care..
how can u compare side by side in LYP like this??

Ok...lastly...im expressing my opinion on...
Dell S2409w (video mode) vs Samsung 2333sw (dynamic contrast)....
showing a same 700mb movie i downloaded >.<
its obvious samsung's 2333sw rox and won!!

Never tested any games though...
anyway for more info...dell S2409 although have an HDMI connector....but..there are no audio out..
my fren who bought it for his ps3 in his room was disappointed as he has to get his audio out somewhere else...>.<

To answer ur question, I believe most ppl wans HDMI input bcos it is an extra to have and it saves u more money in the sense that u don't need to purchase LCD TV in order to hav HDMI....

As for DVI-HDMI connectors, nope, they don't decrease quality since both HDMI and DVI is literally the same.... The onli difference between them is HDMI carries sound whereas DVI doesn't.... Both are still in digital format.... Why we wan these converters is bcos of our graphics cards since most of them don't have HDMI interface.... The onli advantage that DVI has over HDMI is they are able to output 2560x1600 resolution provided they are dual link DVIs whereas HDMI can onli output to a maximum of 1920x1080....
If not mistaken, the Dell S2409W doesn't hav any speakers right??? So, there won't be any audio.... Like I said, HDMI is just another way to connect ur devices to ur monitor onli.....

Dude thanks for ur explaination on the HDMI cables.. notworthy.gif
very professional explaination...
so...my question to u is....
do PC users need to care about that so much...since most monitors doesnt even have speakers...
i know it is still good to have it....jus wondering its usefulness if it doesn't have any speakers...

Woah..AURA..u definitely have a super computer there !!
my estimate is...it worth more than 12k notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif
My rig suddenly looks like a peanut in front of urs >.<

does s2409w have a sound output for u to connect to a speaker?
*
I think no...
u have to connect the sound out from your pc pretty easily i guess...
for ps3 i really hv no idea...
but i think i also shudnt be hard to transfer the sound out from other devices..from ur Hi Fi perhaps?

wat type of panel is that...any 1 knows?

and recently i found that....2333sw's dynamic contrast ratio is 20000:1 not 15000:1...it was printed on the monitor itself...not sure if this is a revise from samsung..

for your info also....currently viewnet@low yat is selling this at RM679
very attractive price for a FULL HD monitor...

just bought 2333sw yesterday..was totally stunned by the colour...
it is a SUPERB screen..DEFINITELY worth the money as compare to DELL 2409s...

but 1 thing damn scary..
its damn damn hard to fix the stand to the monitor..
the rubber is just not rubber..it is a piece of VERY STURDY plastic!!!
imagine u have to force 2 piece of sturdy plastic together..
i used all the strength i hv with my body weight to force it in..it took me 20mins of EXERCISING until it finally got in..

anyway....again...2333sw at RM670++ is an ultra worth buy!!
yea the price drop fast...but the quality doesnt...
no dead pixel...ultra nice colour..
and definitely HUGE screen!!!!

Too bad samsung is not paying me for advertising for them..
anyway..another satisfied customer(taken out the horrible stand design)

Well is this samsung 2333sw a TN panel...??
im not sure bout this..as it definitely have good viewing angle...

Tell me about it.. Very well known already, those Samsung stands. I also had problems fixing them.. need a lot of brute force to snap the base in..  laugh.gif
*
ok...the stand is actually an oval shape little ball...look at the picture attached..
u have to press REALLY hard...to get it in ur monitor..
from the 2nd picture.....it shows the guy just using bare hands to force it in...
but...i would think that is almost impossible...
i used my body weight(70+ kg >.<) + strength of my hand muscle fighting with it for 20 mins in order to push it in..
also note that....at 1st i tried it on my bed...thinking to avoid damaging the monitor..
but it is impossible >.< the bed jus absorbed the force...

the thing is....it is specifically mention that u have to tilt it by an angle of 10 to 5 degree so that it could went in..
dun force it in at a straight 90 degrees...(refer to the picture attached)

Either way...after fixing the stand..
im glad it still functions and functions well smile.gif
again...im very satisfy with this purchase... thumbup.gif

Hope this help some of u biggrin.gif

Thx lot man... btw, this JPEG is lower quality rite? I don't think for 2333sw, the gradient's layers are that obvious?
At ur screen, it's not like the JPEG, am I right?  blink.gif

Hopefully not, fingers crossed  sweat.gif

ehhh ya...the picture i posted obviously got some layers there...
but it wasnt there when looking to the original picture...
i tried saved as bitmap file..but..the picture is 5mb+ sleep.gif

it collects dust and fingerprint easily right? is it hard to clean?
*
it is not hard to clean...
they come with a piece of cloth...in case u wanna wipe the finger print on screen and on the piano black frame
and also the design is much better dust resistant than my old samsung 931BW

ow man... that's lots of racun...  doh.gif

I have to really have a close look at both now...  hmm.gif

Ehh y suddenly s2409 so cheap??
i checked on their website yesterday and its selling at rm999?

anyway...i've seen both lcd my my frens company...
but again...i can say that the colour for samsung is still sharper...
perhaps due to the the dynamic contrast thingy...

HDMI or not??if u dun plan to connect ur ps3 and xbox360....that is never an issue...
in fact..u can convert hdmi to dvi...if u really wan to and it will not result in decreased quality..
check back this discussion on page 96~99...
