hi guys, im planning to get an lcd for my desktop. im currently deciding between the benq e900 and hp w1707... i know the hp's screen surface is glossy, with the brightview technology and stuff... i mean it looks glossy like crystal, and not matte like the old laptop screens.. what about the benq? i think it's matte but im not sure... and does the hp have another layer of plastic above the lcd? i mean, when i press the screen, it wont affect the lcd like how we press laptop screen.. thanks!

hahaha, i'm a noob myself also  blush.gif  Just learned few things from these nice people here...  rclxms.gif

IMHO, for watching movie, as bro kianwee said, these 2 monitors won't have that much difference, and i suppose so, since movie (especially dvd or dvd-rip one) doesn't require much of color accuracy, but need good response time.

Yeah, both are TN panel..

From what I read from websites (you can refer to 1st page where kianwee gives several websites for LCD knowledge), every type of LCD has (+) and (-); e.g.

- TN panel is good for games and movies, since nowadays a lot of TN panel has 5 or even 2ms response times, so you won't see much ghosting.
But others panel, will has lesser response times (i think most of them around 6 or 8ms), so you lost there.

- TN panel sucks at colors accuracy, and not to mention the viewing angle, you move your head up, down, the color and brightness will change (i think this is common knowledge)
But others panel, have good and accurate colors information, you move right left, up down, it won't change much (very little in fact, you can look at the post at page 90 something, IPS panel, posted by kianwee)

So, in conclusion, depends on you which LCD you want to buy. I personally will get 2333sw soon, because of those i stated already, and money of course  tongue.gif

You want to do design and movie, maybe can take 2333sw as well  laugh.gif
