I always use the media player to proportionally enlarge the screen to 'touch' to get rid rid of the black bar, and sacrifice a bit of the left and right region, without causing the people to look 'too slim'. For me either 16:10 or 16:9 is not a concern for me at all. But when doing word processing/ browsing, 16:10 can see more (i think the technical term is more real estate).

I think most 16:10 24" is more expensive than 16:9 24" for the same specs.

Dell website is selling 22" & 24" LED LCD panel already. But price is not listed.
