by request of a user "axbx"
attached below is print screen of gradient banding..
hope it looks good for u...
for your info....this print screen was generated under "Dynamic Contrast" setting
*
Thx lot man... btw, this JPEG is lower quality rite? I don't think for 2333sw, the gradient's layers are that obvious?
At ur screen, it's not like the JPEG, am I right? blink.gif

Hopefully not, fingers crossed sweat.gif

Ehh how to save it lidat?
coz im using windows paint to do the job..the picvure some how get distorted..
i din notice any layers in the 5mb bitmap file anyway..
If you're using Paint, then the quality will 'habis' all the way...

usually i use paste at Photoshop and save as high-quality jpeg...

looks like S2409W & 2333sw gonna have a close fight... rclxub.gif

but 2333sw has a better design than s2409, which is another point that could come into consideration.

QUOTE(terryble @ Feb 11 2009, 03:08 PM)
Ehh y suddenly s2409 so cheap??
i checked on their website yesterday and its selling at rm999?

anyway...i've seen both lcd my my frens company...
but again...i can say that the colour for samsung is still sharper...
perhaps due to the the dynamic contrast thingy...

HDMI or not??if u dun plan to connect ur ps3 and xbox360....that is never an issue...
in fact..u can convert hdmi to dvi...if u really wan to and it will not result in decreased quality..
check back this discussion on page 96~99...
*
Yep, saw that pages... but i think for works purpose, 2333sw will still on top then... and i just noticed few days ago the 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratio... so, i still prefer to look and work at 16:10.
plus, i don't play console games whistling.gif (don't laugh at me, yeah, i don't play games,hieheheh...) only movies can make me sit whole day in front of my monitor.

QUOTE(radiounit @ Feb 11 2009, 03:27 PM)
another thing to consider... more of an advise. prior to my purchase, i always thought the bigger the better, and the s2409w was my top choice. but after buying the 2333sw and have it on my table, it was really huge, much bigger than expected. predict a placement of the lcd on ur table as sitting too close to the lcd defeat the purpose of having a huge monitor and having ur eyes darting around when watching movies on close up.

im currently sitting 2 feet between the monitor, and it's still huge.

Some pics I took recently...

axbx... i m very noob in monitor thing.. but then if watching movie.. then 2333 is better compared to 2409? but actually both of this also TN panel right?

my main purpose to buy a monitor is for designing, photo editing(ppl recommend at least VA) and of coz.. wanna watch movie also.. if watch movie.. TN or VA will affect anything?
*
hahaha, i'm a noob myself also blush.gif Just learned few things from these nice people here... rclxms.gif

IMHO, for watching movie, as bro kianwee said, these 2 monitors won't have that much difference, and i suppose so, since movie (especially dvd or dvd-rip one) doesn't require much of color accuracy, but need good response time.

Yeah, both are TN panel..

From what I read from websites (you can refer to 1st page where kianwee gives several websites for LCD knowledge), every type of LCD has (+) and (-); e.g.

- TN panel is good for games and movies, since nowadays a lot of TN panel has 5 or even 2ms response times, so you won't see much ghosting.
But others panel, will has lesser response times (i think most of them around 6 or 8ms), so you lost there.

- TN panel sucks at colors accuracy, and not to mention the viewing angle, you move your head up, down, the color and brightness will change (i think this is common knowledge)
But others panel, have good and accurate colors information, you move right left, up down, it won't change much (very little in fact, you can look at the post at page 90 something, IPS panel, posted by kianwee)

So, in conclusion, depends on you which LCD you want to buy. I personally will get 2333sw soon, because of those i stated already, and money of course tongue.gif

You want to do design and movie, maybe can take 2333sw as well laugh.gif

then i guess our laptop LCD also TN right??

another thing about the diff between 2333 n 2409 is also the HDMI right? i m not playing xbox or ps3.. but then i m thinking of mayb in the soon future, i will buy hdmi cable.. bcoz nowadays camera support hdmi..

and even movie also right? hmm.gif

Added on February 11, 2009, 5:14 pmswt.. axbx.. u post same question in testFreaks tongue.gif

Laptop? um, I suppose so. hmm.gif

I was thinking about HDMI factor also, but then I decided I don't need it... I don't play console game, definitely no Blue-Ray also (someday, someday rolleyes.gif )

If really up2u... But if it's me, watching movies, go kau kau, if I'm able to buy Blue-Ray, I won't go for this LCD la tongue.gif won't get the full experience...

then the dell 2409 can support HDMI.. but then just the response rate slower right? actually response rate slower means that when an object moved away.. then the shadow will lag at the previous area for a while is it?

if i dont hv blue ray disc/ player.. but i download full HD movie to see.. will tat affect the result if i view in 2333 and 2409?

sorry yea.. ask so many questions.. lol  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

I don't think so ya (correct me if i'm wrong fellas), Dell S2409W is a TN panel, with 5ms.. as mentioned:
TN Panel = fast ms, color so so...

Download, not sure man, sorry... Maybe others know?

go for dell s2409w if u want bigger screen and hdmi support. go for samsung 2333sw if u want a better designed lcd monitor. i personally would 100% recommend the s2409w if it wasn't for the plain design. both equals in term of performance, i think, but whichever u choose, there won't be any regrets.
*
I wonder why Dell S2409W doesn't put the Dynamic Contrast there (I know the DC issue, just wondering blush.gif )

I personally saw 2333sw, and the picture is not disappointing, S2409W wise, haven't see it... That's why still thinking about these 2 now...
