Both 16:9 and 16:10 are widescreen, but the 'true' recognized full HD is 16:9 (1920 x 1080).

Like the discussions earlier, for consoles on 16:10 monitor, it's either black bars or stretched image, depends on the monitor whether it has 1:1 pixel mapping or not flex.gif

Just go to the shop and see, I cannot make a suggestion based on experience since I only own T2200HD, so I cannot compare the display sharpness.

So the only think I can say about T2200HD is it's working nice both as a desktop monitor and as gaming monitor biggrin.gif

To me 24" is too big considering my eyes would be jsut 2 feet away from the monitor, and I find 22" is good enough (still think it's kind of big) tongue.gif

But since my bed is parallel to the PC, I'm enjoying watching anime or movies full screen from the solace of my bed laugh.gif

Very subjective question, and answers depend wholely on real case example. Theoritically, for LCD monitor each of the pixel has its own RGB bulbs, if we are talking about superficial damage (only the panel damage, not other crucial components behind the layer), I think it should work smile.gif

I dun want a 24, the graphics supplied by those GC wont be enought to have a more realistic experience and S series is not ultrasharp i suppose and comes with HDMI

Well if he insisted on 22", just give him a model tongue.gif

You have a choice between Samsung 2233SW, Viewsonic VX2233WM, or BenQ E2200HD, or if you don't mind of not having crappy speaker and HDMI input, just get the low profile version of T2200HD.

From the design, Samsung wins hands down flex.gif

That's very weird, 3850 is a good mid card, 1024x768 shouldn't be a problem for it, I'm sensing other problem like CPU? or RAM?

"The Samsung 2233SW has DVI-D inputs with HDCP, which allows them to playback encoded HD content such as blu-ray." = HDMI? Or screens with HDMI input will outperform the 2233SW?

No such thing as HDMI outclass DVI in display signal, they are both the same thing.

DVI + Audio = HDMI

newbie question:
between Samsung 2233sw and BenQ E2200HD which one is more suitable for gaming with my poor Palit 7600GS 256mb DDR3 graphic card..?

does my gc support both of them o.0
*
Both monitors are displaying at 1920*1080 natively, so no such thing as which is better for gaming, but from spec-wise perspective 2233SW got 15k contrast ration compared to 10k in benq. I'm afraid 7600, 256MB somemore will only let you play at low setting in Full HD display smile.gif

to 3mushy..

how about for normal game like warcraft , need for speed ?

if i lower the resolution will it be better ?
*
What do you mean by it? Lowering your setting will definitely increase your game fps, but at terrible cost of graphic texture and shader, it's a heavy tradeoff to pay wink.gif

hi any one can tell me whats the different between HD monitor and normal LCD monitor?
and how to know it was HD monitor or normal?
*
The display resolution is what differenciating between a normal LCD and a HD monitor

If you walk into a store, this is the first thing that you should be aware of:

Normal LCD monitor = the first generation of LCD monitor, with the aspect ratio of 4:3 (the scren looks like a square)
Widescreen LCD monitor = well, the screen is wide, with aspect ratio of either 16:10, or 16:9, the screen is like a rectangle, Common in manufacturing, usually newer 19" widescreen and above are capable of displaying HD content.

======

Normal LCD has the old aspect ratio of 4:3

High Definition monitors are superior in display resolution (more pixels),

Full HD monitors are capable of displaying 1920*1080 resolution.

======

Looks below:

This is a normal LCD, non-widescreen

These two are widescreen monitors with the aspect ratio of 16:10 or 16:9, capable to display high definition content at maximum resolution.

I doubt Samsung will officially bring in that monitor in here. Small HDTV is not popular in Malaysia, people often opt for 32" at least for LCD, due to the decreasing price smile.gif

So far there's no truly 22" for 16:9 monitor yet

@axbx

Don't expect much difference from 'renown' or 'superior' brand because they all use TN panel, the colors and viweing angle is limited. The contrast ratio is, to me, only in function when there are lots of black or dark colours on the full screen display

ic, so you are saying, any of those will do? Then samsung will do I guess  hmm.gif

I thought the BenQ was a 16:9 (read from a review, can't recall the site) Doesn't matter then  brows.gif
*
BenQ T2200HD/E2200HD/M2200HD is a 16:9 monitor. What I meant by not truly 22 inches monitors are because their diagonal length (which determine the monitor size) is not actually 22" as advertised, but in fact 21.5 inches only.

Aiks, I've seen from a thread just a few days ago that people are experiencing lagginess from playing HD movies, in the end they need to enable hardware acceleration or something.

If playing HD movies depends on software, which part of the hardware is it used to decode the movie?
*
Playing HD movies depends more on your CPU icon_rolleyes.gif However, you can 'force' the video accleration too smile.gif And also, proper codec is needed. Just install K-Lite Mega Codec pack laugh.gif

Yeap, it's enough to play HD movies. You could even play full HD movie without trouble icon_rolleyes.gif
