well, its driving a super entry boston S60. the subs i dont doubt its "need" for the amp, but the comp set, does feel kinda wasted heh.

what about mcintosh amp and alpine speakers? you mean matching them up is like a huge mismatch? (since AFAIK alpine are that well known for their speakers/comp sets unless its their top of the line series?)

the alpine speaker i meant is the cheap ones below 1k la.....would be a shame to match with expensive mcintosh amps hehe, thats all

My waja is an old 2003 model. The 6 cd changer in the back is not working anymore and the radio sucks..

While i was surfing the net to get some info on which brands to choose for my car ICE since i am still a noob. I realised that there are too many different brands to choose from and dont know how each brand would deliver. I m sure many of us here face this prob. I know some say that u hv to test n c which 1 u like or suits u best. I agree with this statement as well. But dont u think it will be almost impossible to actually test each brand.

So, i found a list of brands that fall under 4 different categories. How far its true, i really dont know. Plus, i belif the people from this forum are not from Malaysia. So, their opinions might be different than ours since the products they get there could be different that what er get here. Correct me if i m wrong. So, i hope all of us here could use this as a guideline only. We would also love to hear your experiences using certain brands. Some brands mentioned here may not be available here. N some brands may have been missed out. I'll keep updating the list based on your experiences. So, tell me which category does the brand fall in.

Ok. Before i start, let me remind u that this is not based on my own research. I found it on the net.

So, the 4 categories are:

Horrible brands - avoid these brands at all cost, they are a total waste of money.

Entry level brands - good for the first time car audio enthusiasts, you get a great sound for a cheap price.

High quality brands - these are more expensive than entry level, but not ridiculously expensive, since you get execellent sound that will be louder/cleaner than entry level brands.

Competition brands - these brands are the mother of all brands, prices are very expensive but if you can afford it, these are the brands that win sound competitions at car shows.

Added on January 11, 2011, 7:10 amok i looked over your post. i dissagree with you with the performance teknique's i had a pair of twelves and it was one of the best set of speakers ive had they where 1000 watts rms and they got me second place in an audio comp i would have gotten first place if the other guy had'nt cheated and reved his engine. i hit 132 db with an a/b class 1000 what amp.

If talking about ICE competition in Malaysia, already dead long-long time ago (IASCA & EMMA/AMMA), If I not mistaken early 2004 or 2005. The current one in Malaysia to meet their marketing only or easy said to promote their product in our market.

wad about HELIX? and audio craft? my fren recommend me helix comp, woofer n monoblock with audio craft amp 4channel...plus wiring n etc etc cost 3800..good buy  o not?
