Allen ur car sound is better than quaza, except the sub. Adam is not tat bad de la. Dun judge a book by it's cover la.

but ive heard a few setups myself. not judging a book by its cover, i just don't find them worth it. perhaps if i get the opportunity to audition allen's setup then it could perhaps change my perspective smile.gif

IMO, there are few ways to determine how good certain brands are.

A good installer to install and tune all the related audio equipments to come with a system in a certain price range. If you have listened to badly configured system and then label certain brands as cap ayam (as u always do), that's would be overly too subjective IMO. And to label how lousy a brand instead of their model line up, its more like a fanboy reaction. Again, its very hard to change someone perception towards certain brands when their mind told them how good/bad certain brands are, but isn't that they should discuss on certain model line up instead?

I dun think a RM1.5k component of Mohawk can be worse than Focal Access 165?

I have read that many people in this particular forum mentioned about how cap ayam is Mohawk but garykam did mentioned to me how good he thinks a setup was, when he auditioned before.

IMO, all audio systems are good as long as they being selected and tune properly to the users' need. If there is a brand who can offer better/similar audio quality at far lesser price compared to a well known brand, that's what I called worth.

i dont recall adams digital make HUs too. and really, if you have the budget, consider a better brand

Thanks for the feedback. Not really into ICE just need something decent to replace the lousy stock speaker. May keep the
stock HU but looking for Adams Digital for some sentimental reason...lol.

if you auditioned it before and you're ok with it, by all means go ahead with it then. they are definitely much cheaper than reputable brands as they are a local brand after all smile.gif

While i was surfing the net to get some info on which brands to choose for my car ICE since i am still a noob. I realised that there are too many different brands to choose from and dont know how each brand would deliver. I m sure many of us here face this prob. I know some say that u hv to test n c which 1 u like or suits u best. I agree with this statement as well. But dont u think it will be almost impossible to actually test each brand.

So, i found a list of brands that fall under 4 different categories. How far its true, i really dont know. Plus, i belif the people from this forum are not from Malaysia. So, their opinions might be different than ours since the products they get there could be different that what er get here. Correct me if i m wrong. So, i hope all of us here could use this as a guideline only. We would also love to hear your experiences using certain brands. Some brands mentioned here may not be available here. N some brands may have been missed out. I'll keep updating the list based on your experiences. So, tell me which category does the brand fall in.

Ok. Before i start, let me remind u that this is not based on my own research. I found it on the net.

So, the 4 categories are:

Horrible brands - avoid these brands at all cost, they are a total waste of money.

Entry level brands - good for the first time car audio enthusiasts, you get a great sound for a cheap price.

High quality brands - these are more expensive than entry level, but not ridiculously expensive, since you get execellent sound that will be louder/cleaner than entry level brands.

Competition brands - these brands are the mother of all brands, prices are very expensive but if you can afford it, these are the brands that win sound competitions at car shows.

what offers best value for money???
i am currently using a nakamichi usb HU...would be better if i stick to the same brand or mix and match??

Since u got a hu, u can start with spk first...beginner spk from 500 to 800 is good start...search for the type that satisfy ur ears, not ur mind or eyes.

i am looking for something around rm300 per component set so total two component sets would cost around rm600....and a 4 channel amp for maybe rm400-500....cant afford anything higher than this.....how about the mb quart FKB 116 component system....my uncle just installed it in his car and is selling the car off...he has already given it to me to use...around 3 months old i guess.....and also an underseat sub.....i was planning to get a another comp of the same thing and just hook it up wth a 4 channel and use the underseat sub.......later on get rid of the underseat sub and add a monoblock and a proper sub...
