most Sony Hu can't read pirated cd same goes to home dvd player

my sony home theater can read pirated cd and DVDs no problem...

we are talking about those 1 or 2 DIN sized HU that goes mobile on cars and runs on 12V DC... not the one and needs a 230V AC that doesnt go mobile... so quality wise you will expect a lot of difference... especially on the reading the pirated stuff....

...have been slowly upgrading my Vios (at least I thought I was) ....

current specs:
clarion HU (1din)
front speakers: Memphis Component MC speakers
rear speakers: Factory (original speakers)
sub: Planet audio
Amp: Taiwan-made amp 2-ch (purely budget decision)

As you can see, very entry/budget level but hope some new additions can boost performance so....wud really appreciate any suggestions eg amp, rear speakers and tweeters.

General comment:

for me... i am not too keen to categories this brands... i think we have to be practical when we talk about ICE...

All sifu here would agree to me that SQ is a personal thing. A properly tune cap ayam can be "better" sounding than those expensive step.

The fact that ICE is so expensive in MY. Remember ICE/Audiophiles is a long journey. So plan properly on your purchase. You can have the best setup in the world but you only listen to pirated CD/MP3 or radio, that to me is just waste of money.

Lets enjoy ICE to what we can afford.

Tks for the suggestion. wondering now whether shd change the 2-ch amp to a better 4-ch amp...any suggestions for a reasonably priced amp below 1K? Was considering Orion speakers for the rear for RM300. Is that too expensive? Cheers.

4ch, imho, under 1k, it's JBL GTO-1004e or a cheaper Magnat Bull Power Four or soundstream lil' wonder. u might get a mid end amp if u dun mind 2nd hand...

If you planning to get SW, don't get rear speaker. Save the money for a better amp for the front.

everyone plays ICE according to their budget, if ur budget is limited, nothing much can be said... dun be sad. Happy New Year.

me using mbq amp. 4ch & 2ch. Using about 2 years plus, almost to 3 years. An average & budget amp. Normal listening consider ok lar.
Me gonna let go both amp soon. Wanna upgrade it.

ICE is not just about buying better hardware and so on
its also about how u install it and how u tune it

alot of factors to consider about upgrading ICE

1. what's wrong with my current setup?
2. am i that picky or can I live with it?
3. when i upgrade, what is my expectation?
4. what budget do i have?
5. what else have i missed out to produce better quality regardless of the hardware?

alot of questions and lots of factors to think off

just like sound proofing, cables and many more
