I neeed some sifu help here, my bro recently install a Pegasus Subwoofer in my dad's car, previously he use an amplifier which is not Pegasus to connect ( do not know what is the correct term ) to the woofer. The subwoofer coil spring got burn, the people that install say the amplifier is not strong enough to coup with Pegasus woofer. After that, my bro change to another brand of Amp( recommend by the installer, said this is strong enough) with a new subwoofer ( still pegasus, claim back). Starting was ok, 1 to 2 months, same problem occur, the installer gv the same reason again.

Question: How do i know which amp suits which woofer or vise versa?
2nd Question: Will a low power/watt( weak) Amp causes the subwoofer to burn?

Please help...scared kena conned

Wired wrongly? Sometimes this maybe the cause.... Or the sub itself are low quality which can cause this also.....

If the same thing happened again and again, yet it is with the installer recommendation....

The least, he is not making the correct recommendation... whether he is inexperience or trying to con you, that one you'll need to find out yourself.

Thanks for so immediate reply guys..

The installer say the amplifier not powerful enough and that causes the subwoofer to burn, is it possible? not powerful enough shouldnt be the sound not nice only? if too powerful then only will cause the subwoofer to burn right?

a few variables to look at why sub blew:
1. Amp sending clip signals to sub, hence vc overheated
2. Amp has a dc current leakage
3. maybe this particular model sub is not meant for spl output, hence over-excursion
And etc...need to see the actual setup to diagnose further as there many variables to consider

That's why I said, don't criticize my car... now we no more friend lor ... tongue.gif

You started with a budget, which is just nice for entry level...

But now after so many TT, basically you have upgraded your knowledge to know what you want.

You know what sub to go for, and what setup to choose from.

...but you still plan for a car and no budget for upgrade.

Your setup memang entry level. But what you want to do next, is not.

P.S: Just bear with the fact that you are not my avg SQ player~ laugh.gif

My friend who own a BLM, recently changed a HU. Totally different output already... bass also stronger. It shows that BLM HU really cap ayam... laugh.gif
The HU changed was Pioneer 3XXX series.

Maybe you want to try that first and see if you are satisfy with it.

Oh... if speaker got pecah sound, then:
1. Your volume too loud because you want louder for more bass... laugh.gif
2. Really pecah.

which is your problem?? How much you plan to spend on the speakers?

Most of the time, to not let outside ppl hear what you have inside... You might need to do some soundproof. But of course, your sound might leak thru the windows also.

The effect you want might need a proper setup, anyway to start with 1.2k speaker... you can get some decent speakers already.

Helix, German Maestro, Focal dan lain-lain...

Why don't you try to do step by step? Because I know BLM HU memang teruk, try to change HU first then see la if the sound is ok for you.

Or if you want it your way, HU+GM Front+GM rear = not possible with your budget.

A proper setup means, 1 comp set+amp+better than stock HU+subwoofer.
