My PC speed suddenly slowed down like what.
even when just startup..meaning no heat yet.. just start.. was not on for few hours..
Start up need more than 5 minutes.
meaning not dust prob...i do clean the dust frequently
Everything especially video or graphic software become very very jerky.
startup for heavy software needs like 1-2 minutes.
rendering simple 3d image usually takes 1 second one now need 1 minutes..
startup browser needs 30 seconds.
seriously the speed is killing me.

It was still fine yesterday morning.

I scanned spyware, malware and viruses (using different specialized software like anti-spyware, anti-malware etc) but no single virus found.

should i just reformat it?
or before i reformat, issit hardware (Ram, hardisk, etc etc) problem?

thanks. smile.gif

i think before the problem started, i kept hearing the 'knocking' sound (quite loud, not the normal clicking sound) from CPU for a while. (about less than 2 minutes) was wondering what was that sound. then after that no more already.
now everything is very very very slow but can't figured what's the problem.

does it start up fast and gradually slow down in say 5-10 mins and continue to lag? If yes

Does CHKDSK come up with any file allocation problem? If no you can rule out HD issues

I suspect is a heat related issue.. maybe fan not working/heat sink related.. when was the last time your PC was serviced? It could be very dusty inside

no. even start up is very slow, like 5 minutes. it's very unusual. u know the when start up in the 'window xp' sign there, where there's a moving bar below, it was 6 loops before yesterday evening. now like more than 100 -200++ loops like still going on until 5 minutes.

Heat is not problem. i cleaned the dust few months ago. still not that dusty yet now.

hmm.. did you run chkdsk?
Goto file explorer right click on your hard disk assuming is c:
>Tools>Error Checking

Normally file allocation problems arise if PC was shut down abruptly.. there may be missing data

if is hard disk checking is ok and you still have the same slow speed, I suspect is really thermal issue... cpu fan not working properly ..
a hotter than normal cpu will cause lags... may be as simple as not plugging the cpu fan leads to the motherboard/bad contact..

looks like the main culprit here is the hdd, try to switch to another hdd if you have one or when your pc start up download Speedfan http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

and do the S.M.A.R.T check
