When those aluminium casings first came out, they were measurably lighter
than the other cases of the same class but today, I really doubt so. The biggest reason today probably would be that since the manufacturers could charge a premium on those alu cases that the focus is on them. You'll be hard pressed to find a "nice" case that is not made of alu.  |
