Hello, first post here smile.gif

I'm looking to purchase a new LCD Widescreen monitor / HDTV for use on my PC and 360. I intend to hook both PC and console to the display at the same time, so definitely looking for something that let's me switch views between the two easily, without having to trudge through the menu. What i'm really concerned about is the available resolution for the PC, and of course, upscaling issues for the Xbox 360. I mainly use the PC for graphic design(non-3d).

I've got a budget of RM3,000.

If anyone can kindly help me with advice, or personal experiences, it'd be great.

Thanks in advance!

if u want to display at the same time, there a function on HDTV thats give u a small view of other channel, so u can view two channel at the same time...but it definitely small one...

for that budget, better go for HDTV 32 inch...all HDTV right now have a VGA connector, so u can hook up ur PC directly using VGA cable and using component or HDMI for XBOX 360...just switch using the TV remote control for PC and 360...hope this help...

Thanks for the reply smile.gif I looked around a little for 32" HDTVs, but sadly, most of it only comes up to a native resolution of 1366x768 for PCs. Working with graphic programs, specifically Photoshop and Illustrator, uses a lot of screen estate. Do you have any recommendations or know of any 32"HDTVs that support up to at least 1080 pixels vertically?

im using a 32s400a bravia, and eventhough it is 720p only, for some reason it supports up to 1600*1200 when i hook up my pc to it via vga rclxub.gif

for RM3k,i think the only good bet you have is a 32".

i dont think there are any HDTVs that allow splitscreen activities(then again,im not an expert in HDTVs tongue.gif)

i have the same model as you but i can only get reso if 13** X 768 (cant remember the correct figure)

running on Vista and i can get output 1080p of PS3.

although it's native is 720p, it can still accept 1080p. and better picture quality on 1080p

i dun mind.. i dun even care wat is HD. 720p is good enough..

if i go to the true 1080p, i will be tempted to buy more hd stuff

eg: BR movies.

now, i am watching d|3d movies. watching from a distance, as long the movie does not have extra head/voice/shadow, i am pleased with it and i can assume it looks like HD due to the fact i can see every single hair on the person's head

if i go into blue ray movies at 1080p.. i will spend ALOT of money on Blue Rays ! (human Nature: Desire) and i wont spend time d| gigas of movies.

right now, im not a very rich dude nor too poor.

i just buy wat satisfy me most with my current income.

when u watch a blue ray movie(let say u bought it), how long can it last? u will enjoy it for 2hrs(eg) after that wat do you do ? u put back the BD into the casing and tat's it, wait to trade or maybe u want to keep it and watch it later on.

i can get the same amount of pleasure with d|3d movies.

i m not a guy who goes for maximum quality, the story of the movie is more important.

the same thing goes for audio system. how long can the sound quality from a movie make u feel u are inside the movie. same.. for 2 hrs(eg).

after that, the sound will be playing in ur head for awhile in mono format smile.gif

therefore i only use my trusty AL ATP3 2 do the talking. damn satisfy.

and yes, even it's 768p, as long i assume that's 1080p quality, i wont mind abit nod.gif

im a casual gamer, not a hard core gamer. nod.gif

and i dun earn my money to buy tonnes of game to collect. economy not stable, spending money to buy extreme entertainment devices is too much.

even so, as some of us gets older, our gaming mood goes down, mine is not an exception.

Younger me can play PS the whole night and go to school at dawn.

now i cant. besides that, my younger me can face the same monster over and over again to get to max lvl(rpg).

now ? Why do i care?

as the say: eat to live, not live to eat.

yours sincerely:

unreal

Good for you. I'm complaining or anything, but fact is a fact, simply assuming it as 1080p does not make it so. As long as you are happy, that's good enough.

Some manufacturers advertise displays that can accept 1080p signal (but display them on 768p panels) as 1080p-capable. So, do your research carefully smile.gif

i believe the tv support 1080p signal, but downscale the resolution to match the lcd native resolution.

maybe can try this to see whether any difference by 720p and 1080p on that tv. get a 1080p video (blu-ray / avi). set the resolution to 1080p and see the quality. again, set the resolution to 720p and see any different from 1080p.
