To save your precious RS traffic, go for .MKV and .RM/.RMVB. It's smaller in size, but the quality is the same!

.MKV & .RMVB (in general) releases ARE smaller in size. If you're downloading a tv show with 1080p or 1080i, the size will definitely be bigger. I'm talking about the normal releases such as DVDRip for tv shows, DVDScr and R5 for movies.

If you're dl'ing movies or tv shows, it is important to see who the poster or ripper is because different rippers/posters use different sources. MKV movies and tv shows that is over 600MB+ and 300MB+ respectively is probably a 1080p or 1080i release.

RMVB quality is not as good as MKV but the compression is definitely better than AVI.

The quality of an RMVB or MKV release depends on the *rippers* preference.

** My statements are based on my own experience as a die-hard ^leecher^ in various ^w^ forums smile.gif **

Added on December 16, 2008, 7:37 pmBtw, I should point out that MKV and RMVB releases are usually available 3-24 hours after a normal .AVI release. The timeframe depends on how fast the ripper works icon_rolleyes.gif

Btw, one of my colleagues called RS yesterday and found out that 1000MB Traffishare = 150 points. They reduced it from 9 points for 1 MB to 6 points for 1 MB doh.gif

I schedule my downloads to download 2 files/parts at a time
i wouldnt say the quality is the same unsure.gif

i still prefer avi. mainly because its a standard file format and playable in most (if not all) media players.
*
If you mainly watch in PC, you could use Media Player Classic included in the K-Lite Codec Pack. But if plan on burning them to CD's or DVD's then .avi is the easiest format to handle with.

Since I'm using MaxisBB Wireless (20 - 50 kBps dl speed) and since RS enforced the new 2.66 GB download limit ( rclxub.gif), I prefer to wait a few hours or a few days until a ripper has released a smaller sized MKV or RMVB version.

It seems that you may have missed the RapidShare Premium FAQ

QUOTE(http://rapidshare.com/faq10.html)
The display of the used traffic is incorrect.
Download Managers cause additional data traffic, e.g. if you download a large file in parallel parts, as opposed to downloading the whole file at once. This results in more data traffic than corresponds to the size of the file. The more such parallel streams are initiated, the more additional traffic is generated. RapidShare accurately logs the data traffic that leaves our own network.

There are many types of proxies. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proxy for more info.

Currently I'm using SOCKS5 proxy via SSH Tunneling smile.gif

can you please elaborate more on SOCK5 proxy via SSH Tunneling ?

where can I get it ? laugh.gif
*
1. Get a Shell Account (If you have a webhosting account, request SSH Access)
2. Download Putty (I highly recommend you get the modified version, Putty Tray which has an added "minimize to tray" option)
3. Read This: http://thinkhole.org/wp/2006/05/10/howto-s...-im-with-putty/

If you want a free shell account take a look at http://www.red-pill.eu/freeunix.shtml.

I currently have SSH Access (with my webhost based in the United Kingdom - RM 40 per year) and a shell account (RM 62 per year) in Canada.

FYI, be careful of free shell accounts or webhost that offer free SSH access, they *may* be up to no good.

Hope this helps smile.gif

I personally don't think u get got speed with that tools
*
It depends on your internet connection and webserver connection. My connection speed usually drops 5-10% if I use SSH Tunneling. I usually use it for P2P (Ares & FrostWire) and watch BBC Shows via BBC iPlayer which can only be used if you have a UK based IP brows.gif

is it true that for maxis BB, u can only download certain times at nite?

and whats the speed u get from downloading RS files?
*
I'm not really sure. For the past few months, I was able to dl RS files 24x7 without a hitch. But for the past few days, It's been acting kinda weird hmm.gif Before I go to sleep, the speed is fine (HSDPA) but when I wake up, suddenly it's GPRS connection blink.gif When I restart the modem, then only it will go to HSDPA back.

Most of the time my dl speed is about 20-35 kBps. Sometimes it can go up to 60-95 kBps.

I've never bought a premium account from them. If you've been cheated by them, contact RapidShare support via email so they can re-evaluate alfsool.com reseller status.

Streamyx has been known to limit the download speed of rapidshare files. Your download limit depends on the IP Range you're in.

Take a look HERE for more info.

I have been using FDM @ Free Download Manager with no problems. But with this limit thing going, I cannot have a big q. Or else after the limit the rest of the files will be 5kb in size so have to redownload. Any solution to this you guys.
How old is your premium account? If you had it since before 23rd October 2008, you should have 50 GB of TrafficShare for free. You can utilise the TrafficShare to gain additional download quota.

ATTENTION!

Did someone notice a change in download amount? A few hours ago, I have around 3GB+ and now I open the RS account page and saw something like 7GB remaining rclxm9.gif

Some users from other "W" forums are also reporting the same thing...their download quota suddenly increased drool.gif

Although there are no official news from RapidShare yet, I highly suggest that you check your previous and current download quota icon_idea.gif
