i think what the web mean by infrared is the red light that focusing when we take picture in low light condition =) i read in a blog said that N82 using infrared for focusing in low light condition =)

take a look at the xenon flash, on the right of it, there's a small circle, that's the infrared =) but of course can't use to transfer data, hehe.... hope can be useful.

i love my N82, it's an all round phone, and yet i've to agree that kinda disappointed with the battery life especially when u shooting photo using xenon flash, surfing through wifi. but, hey....no gadget is perfect at all, the plus is blinded me already as i didn't care about the minus points at all, hehe...beside, can always buy an extra battery hehehe....i'll rated this phone 9/10
