Garmin 5.0.20 power consumption on N82
4hours Driving Time + 30 minutes Stopped Time = 3 bar battery
4:15 Driving Time + 1 hour Stopped Time = System Shutting Down
Conclusion: GPS can go up to 5hours, and there is no significant different in power consumption between Garmin V4 and V5.

Movie (avi) power consumption on N82
2 movie (~3hours) = 3 bar battery
Conclusion: Movie playback on N82 can last minimal 3 movies or 4:30 playback

---
hmmm make me wonder why movie playback use so little power?
and why the power consumption is the same as GPS...

Note this result this is based on my unit, u r welcome test on your own unit if u have any doubt...

lucaswjk,
Both GPS and Movie requires LCD to switch on all the time. LCD drains the most battery.

Movie reads from Memory card and requires a bit power.

GPS requires power to process GPS signal, process co-ordinates, calculate routes, refresh often, voice navigation. Hence theoretically will take up more power than movie.

Both movie and GPS are still not comparable to making calls (or GPRS/3G) which takes up even more power, hence 1-3 hours talk time only.

i know wat it mean...
wat im comparing is between GPS and movie... not call/gprs/3g

fyi
Both have LCD switch on all the time
GPS also reads the maps from the Memory card...
Movie required intensive processing power to encode the video(for every 25frame/second-xvid) and audio(128kb/s-mpeg3)
---
there is no point to argue this

wat most of us need is just the answer...
and the result is based on actual testing

so??

watever...

as i know , u must convert the movie to the screen size of your phone then only can watch the movie .. those files u download directly from web (e.g divx , avi) are mostly can't be view in the phone..
yea i did .. i play pokemon too .. hehehe ... Gundam nice ?
*
dont give wrong info if u donno the answer... doh.gif

no need convert or resize...
coreplayer/smartmovie will solve all your avi problem

if u do not know how to convert... dont do it
coz the quality is worst after the conversion... sometime whistling.gif
