Guys, i was wondering if this small laptop could allow me to do some programming stuff, like visual basic?
*
i dont see visual basic as a resource intensive application. it shouldnt be a problem at all.

serious? it's never coming to our shores or will just take longer?
*
confirm never will for 1005HA. only 1008HA will make it here.

long battery life...what about Asus Seashell......slim and elegant...
*
yeah ... 1005HA is seashell, so is 1008HA, but too bad 1008HA cannot remove the battery.

havocz, my friend coming down from US. Want to ask her to buy me a 1008. Total would be RM1400. But in Msia, its RM1999.

Is it worth the RM600 savings to buy from US? What are the risks involved besides warranty? Do Asus netbooks ever get spoilt?
*
it's a great deal. for as long as it carries international warranty, i see no issue in bring the netbook from US.

thanks havocx, that is brilliant advice. But isn't the US adaptor 110volts? How can we use it here even with a plug adaptor? Our 240v would fry the machine?

I think we must get a step down transformer.
*
it's a universal adapter.

My eeepc running in windows Xp will detect it as 2gb straight away... you can comfirm this from the system properties ( right click my computer, go to properties ) i think the 1GB ram problem is because of the Xandros OS (standard OS for EEEpc).. most of the people that upgrades to 2 GB ram uses windows OS as far as i know.. so that the can decrease the XP size down by disabling the system cache which is by default 2GB
*
my 1005HA doesnt automatically detect 2GB ram despite restarting the machine a few times.
system properties shown as 2GB after i went into BIOS and reboot.
