TQ all for the info.

Call the shop 2 days ago and they mentioned that the netbook is still at the 'kilang'. Duh!! The shop is Evernews in Digital Mall.

Yupp.. the replacement takes only 10 minutes. Dell engineer came to my office 2days after I call the call center and managed to replace my Latitude keypad straight away. That's Customer Service! I should buy their netbook but the features not at par with the 1005HA.
*
So games then. Whut Kilang ? They sent the machine back to Taiwan?
Haha just get it back and send it in yourself buddy. And you know what its strange Evernew works that way. All of my netbooks come from Evernew but from various Evernew's ie Sunway, Lowyat, Digital Mall, usually their service is top notch.

Gosh. Been busy and havent stop by this place for a while.

I bought new Asus netbook last week. The tablet T91. Lovin it biggrin.gif.

Ooh cool pretties. Ive sold 3 of my 7 machines. Haha and dropped in to the Dark Side. Using Acer machines now till the 1201N comes out hehe.

Am interested to buy asus 1005HA. Wats the price nowadays and which shop in low yat you guys would recommend.

Just for normal word processing, spreadsheet n surfing xtvt..

Thanks smile.gif
*
Usually the price runs the same buddy. I just got a 1005HA 2 weeks ago (oops bought another one haha) at RM1350 with 2GB Ram and Carry Bag and price with 2% Credit Card charges. You could get it much cheaper with cash, ie probably less than RM1350. The price is pretty standard from any shop in Lowyat i believe. Try to get one from the more reputable shops ie not those with fly by night booths, i mean since the price is the same anyway and warranty comes from Asus, as long as its legit, it doesnt really matter where you get it from.

Just check my 1005HA status in Asus website:

Send to Evernew : 26/12/2009
Asus received the unit : 4/1/2010
Status : Waiting for Material

So you guys with EeePC, please be gentle with your keypad. One faulty button will make you Eee-less nearly a month. Hope they stick on just selling motherboard. I won't buy their notebook anymore!

If you just went to the service center, and they keyboard is in stock, it will be fixed on the spot.
Speaking from experience.

Also, kinda suprised to see Evernew took 2 weeks to send the item, considering the building where Asus Service Center is just next door. (Considering its Evernew at LYP).

I was wondering, for old netbook owner like us, is it possible to upgrade from XP to 7?

BTW can 7 be installed without CD drive? eg use pendrive

Thats really an unfair statement.
1. Like emino said, if the replacement part was available at the time and even from your own experience it would have been a very quick replacement.
2. My personal experience in using, handling and owning 11 Netbooks all from Asus, none of them caused any major problems, in fact they still dont and some of them are already with new owners while im upgrading. 5 of them brought from Evernew i might add.
3. The Date youve had the machine sent in. 26th December ? Thats on Boxing Day, a day after Christmas, its also leading up to New Year where all major companies stop production for the annual year end break. Its too bad that your machine had to fail on that day, but the fact Evernew was willing to accept the machine, on a Saturday after Christmas for them to arrange shipping to be sent to Asus in Imbi Plaza only to find that it had no available spare part at the time, that says something too.
4. There was a reason you bought an Asus, its not because its the cheapest. Think of it, whatever that reason is, it still holds true.
5. As the company that pioneered the Netbook, its still one of the best Netbook maker around. Still holds its head up high against most of the other competitor.
6. If i had one faulty button on my keyboard, say the letter R, it wont make me EEE-less for a month, i can still keep it, use it, virtual keyboard, external usb keyboard, only for me to send in my machine when there is spare available replacement. It does not make me EEE-less even if its the E key (the most used letter in the English language).
7. Notebook and Netbook are 2 different things.
8. You mentioned you should buy a Dell Netbook earlier but their features not on par with Asus 1005HA. Then how can you say for Asus to just stick on just selling motherboards when they have Netbooks with far better features than most other machines ?

Im no fanboy although it may look so from my comments, as someone who has owned, and have used many netbooks and many machines throughout the years, I find your comments on asking Asus just to stick on making Motherboards a little off. They already make Mobile Phones, Very Powerful Graphic Cards, Network Components to which most are the top of the range in its class.

When you look for a netbook, the first think you should always remember, they are not gaming machines. They are designed work perfectly for light work. Nevertheless depending on the user, the machine can be used throroughly as a great workhorse. Weight is power for Netbooks.
Comparison with all the other machines. Actually they are mostly the same. There is very little to differentiate one brand from another other than looks, price and reliability.

A Toshiba Netbook and Dell netbook may have the EXACT same specs with Asus, but the Toshiba is more expensive and the Dell Cheaper. Toshiba support is so so while Dell support is awesome, even coming to your house to repair on a broken keyboard but still folks choose Asus or Acer. Why ? Reliability. Having used these Netbooks, and comparing it to Asus or Acer, the latter has more value for money. And look up my past postings, I added a Youtube video showing the First Generation Netbook from Asus, a 701 machine with XP(which i still have mind you) running head to head with another Asus 701 running Vista and running against a Dell 1201 machine running Vista. The Dell is a 4th Generation netbook, pretty new at the time, in fact only launched 2 weeks before and still it lost out to the older generation machine.

For netbooks, my suggestion for now, for value for money in terms of price and performance go for Asus or Acer. Its a different ballgame altogether though if youre talking bout Notebooks.

Yes to both question. Only dependant on the size of your HDD to install, at least 5GB available space is needed. Ive tested installing Windows 7 even on Celeron based netbooks with great success. For Pendrive Installation, go ahead to Microsoft website, the tools and instruction are provided as well.

As how trend seems to look like, we might only get the machines about 3 months once its launched in the US. It was launched in the US in December so looks to be March seems to be a good date. What more with the busy month upcoming towards CNY (where there is a chance to clear off old stocks) it seems rather unlikely itll be launched by the end of February. Once the market cools off by March, thats when they spring that suprise.

Or, they could time it in time to be launched during PC Fair 2010, 16th - 18th April 2010.

Got the Eee netbook back last Friday so roughly around 1 month for faulty keypad. Minus the Christmas 2 weeks holiday, they took 2 weeks to replace the keypad. Dell took only 2 days to replace my Latitude keypad. I'm talking from experience too!

Asus may have good products, but they need to improve on after-sale service especially on spare-parts. I'm giving them a favour by pointing out on something they need to improve on. Mountain of praises won't help them to compete with other giants in the mobile computing segment. Their mobos are still the best though, so I'm sticking with my comments.

My EEE 900HD just died on me today. And I noticed this time it's not because of the HDD... It just got the Power, Wifi, light on.. No Fan sound, no LCD light on... no nothing.

Good thing this time my HDD is still okay.

So what to do with it now? Warranty is expired just 2 months ago. If go Asus service center to check, where is it and how much does it costs?

2. What's the difference between "P" and "PE" model? Anyone? sweat.gif

I bot my 1005P last friday, i saw quite a lot of shops at ly selling 1005PE also but the price is about RM300 higher than 1005P. ya, their difference is chiclet keyboard and 3 hrs extra battery life.

I have used my 1005P for more than 8 hrs after 1st charge (normal surfing and program installation), still got 25% battery left. thumbup.gif Anyway, i feel that the memory need to be upgraded to 2Gb, the ram meter always max out...
