previously saw another tiny desktop from compaq model CQ2009F (w/out monitor) at a price RM788
- intel atom 230
- 1gb ram
- 160gb sata hdd
but after a long of thinking, i decided to took asus eee...
but there's a bug at my eee... i'm not sure for anybody else but i'd requested 2 unit for test and both has a same bug.
there's a small white dot at the lcd. similar to dead pixel.
but since 1 year warranty, i just grab it. furthermore it's too small but noticeable if i look very near.

question :-
- max memory can upgrade?
- where can i upgrade the memory at lowyat? CSL or ASUS authorizers?
- can i upgrade it on my own (but void warranty?)
- any bottleneck on eee sdhc reader?
- propose 8gb SDHC (class 6) card can perform well with eee (below RM100)
- can move swap file to SDHC?

separate question :-
i'm also saw 4 in 1 printer but not remember the brand but the price around RM160. if the ink is finished, can i use the scanner function only?

how much is 1000HE in pc fair? i asked some shop said it's old and sold out? i tot it's quite new??

this model has been replace by 1005HA

but 1000HE jut out not long ago ma why so fast discontinue.. sumore the keyboard is nice the new one not nice. and new one is 1699 and the screen can't tilt much degree compared to the 1000HE

lol i oso got the puny 700x, n slap in class 6 8gb SDHC for added space. sadly tho mine also come with 1 dead pixel at the top right but not noticeable at all during usage. i dont think there can be any onboard upgration done with this netbook bcoz both ram n hdd are soldered on. unless of course ure good with soldering stuff lah lol

Lets go with your statement first, that small dead pixel even if you wanted to claim you wont be able to since all laptop makers have a policy on claiming dead pixels. Asus for the EEEPC is 3 white and 2 black. Meaning only until you have 3 whites and / or 2 black dead pixels minimum can you claim for warranty.

Depends on the model you purchased. EEEPC 2G 700 has its Ram soldered in so no matter how good you are with a solder you wont be able to do anything about it. All the other models can be upgraded to a maximum of 2gb Ram because of its single Ram slot capacity.

Anywhere and everywhere. Upgrading the Ram does not void the warranty. So if your mum can do it, let her

No bottlenecks, in fact it reads 16GB SDHC just fine. And i got that on mine about 2 years ago.

On the Eeepc, if youre running it from a SSD card you dont even need a swap file, its just that darn fast. For the rest, why move it to SDHC if youre running it from HDD. But to answer your question, yes you can. Should you ?

Your printer question. Yes can be used as scanner only though there cannot be any outputs ( printed that is ).

Nope, you'll outright break the stuff, you cant upgrade the soldered ram without claiming for warranty.

Saw it already, played with it, still hasnt piqued my interest in getting one though, having played with an Iphone, the touch screen netbook has still some kinks to be worked out in my opinion
