guys(and hopefully Mr.Edifier too brows.gif ), please help me to choose the right speaker for my taste.
I'm planning to buy a speaker to replace the vs4121 black(not good for my style)
I have Cre*tiv* x-fi xtreme audio pci express sound card,
with my budget (around 150$) I can buy either:
C3 (150$ in my place) or s330d (140$)
they're not avaible in my town, so I should take the shipping fee too.
I like music very much in every aspect, watch movies sometimes and play games often
(but I don't really care sound quality for games, it's music that's important)
I use the speakers for PC.
I like of curz detailed sound, some clarity, but also the punch of the bass (like kick drum)
what's make me confused is some said s330d is good powered&clarity with tight bass,
I like that very much, but some said with x-fi soundcard the speaker become overbright and the bass be too heavy
c3 is like a masterpiece, very depends on the source. so with great expensive card it should beat the s330d.(s330d is like already process the source on its own)
the problem is my soundcard is not that expensively great, it's standard. .
after thinking somewhile I prefer s330d(60%) than c3(40%) because of it's value rclxub.gif
please leave comment/suggestion for this.. thanks too everyone who cares to this newbie icon_rolleyes.gif ,

1st of all...noticed u joined yesterday... welcome to lowyat forums  rclxms.gif

Your analysis is correct...c3 is a masterpiece, for me after rounds and rounds of testing the models at shops, i will say i prefer c3...

S330 for me is too bassy and it's really heavy on the bass. Sat's are clear but overall soundstage, c3 wins. Plus c3 has a good sub actually, bass is tight. in other words, c3 has good bass quality but less in quantity.

s330 has more quantity in bass but less on quality... and s330 you wont the option of fine tuning the treble which is bad if you need to tune it to your room's acoustic...

also, c3 has a more sensitive input literally... because the shops uses cheapsake $20 cd player and a "audio router" to route the audio to all the speakers. When i use my handphone direct to s330, i cant really hear a difference, but with c3, indeed the sound improve a lot and actually IMO it sounds better than s330

second him. i vote for the C3. just lack of punch, but bass is of better quality than S330. beside C3, i also recommend R501, running in 2.1 mode if dunwan 5.1

thx 4 d warm welcome & d fast reply hhahahah thumbup.gif
yeah, afterall I notice from some thread that c3's sub is SQ type, and s330d use SPL type.
SQ promises high quality bass, and SPL have a loud, powerful bass but it just sound like another low sound not the 'real' recording's bass
too bad I can't audition these two speaker, and have to pay more due to the c3's shipping fee smile.gif

I just wondering if my cheap X-fi xtreme audio card can improves c3's performance (be a good processing source) and add some punch to the bass output?
I usually play drums in the band, and tend to like the kickdrum's beat of curz not among the others wink.gif .

oh no. . .
Mr. Edifier said "Both systems also produce good SQ but If u want really good SQ, i will recommend u buy the S330, S series is the top series of Edifier.
Since u r music lover, the S330 will serve u well. The C3 is for gamer who want the bass effect so not very suite for your usage."

and this will totally confuse me. rclxub.gif
why does people said the vice versa?? c3 good for music and s330d great for gaming et cetera,,
and with my x-fi soundcard I doubt s330d will produce it's best
logically its because s330d has great SQ and x-fi has it's own SQ. . so in pair will result in an "over" SQ!??

I almost ordered c3 today and now I'm thinking again hheheh hmm.gif
s330d is great in value though plus it's shipping weight(not as heavy as c3)

sticking for c3 anyway thx 2 nismo and andrew biggrin.gif

hmm.. after spending some time confusing to decide,
I ordered s330d. . I think I prefer the "short" character bass for now.
well.. thats not the reason that makes me choose s330d, the main reason is not really reasonable
I rated these two products as same. . so because I'm confused I give a shot to the design!

my monitor have blue LED, computer casings with blue LCD and blue light & room's wall colour is black&blue, i'm thinking that s330d's blue halo will fit well tongue.gif tongue.gif
these speaker looks compact&cool too(for my medium sized desk), sadly I must abandon the treble&bass control and wireless remote for movies.
another reason, friends told me c3 is great "after" modification, some of the parts are low on quality, heaven to modificator I think.
I'm definitely not a modificator..
s330d has digital output, maybe I'll buy good optical/coaxial cables knowing that it's not included in the pack.. thats easier than modding biggrin.gif

It's enough for me now. thx 4 all who helped me deciding!

they hv sent me one and will arrive tomorrow smile.gif
expecting the best as I can't audition them.

hmm, first let me know how ur using ur speakers.
for music? gaming? movies?
if ur just listening to music, rarely watch the movies and never play games. then take the onkyo se-200 external(I doubt ur at this type)
if u always play games, action movies, and takes music as 'secondary'. take creative's high end like fatal1ty champion external
if u prefer the balance from these three, try looking for asus's card(based on my friend's experiences)

A question to all the sifus and fans here:

I hear good things about Edifier and am willing to give it a try. I am looking for a system that can pwn and replace my old faithful AL ATP3 speakers and last as long (as of writing, ATP3 speakers are about 8 years now). Will use the speakers just about exclusively for music and the occasional movie/video. The speakers will be connected to my laptop mostly (sometimes to portable CD player).

My musical tastes are very varied-- I listen to classical music (Mozart, Chopin, etc), ethnic stuff (bhajans, gamelan, Japanese and Chinese traditional music), movie soundtracks, choral music (like church music-- Google "Allegri Miserere youtube" and click on the videos if you want to hear what I mean), country music, classic rock like Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Kansas, Queen and AC/DC, heavy metal, New Age stuff and a lot of other things, so the speakers need to be able to cover a wide range, with good clarity of sound (very important) and decent treble and bass.

This afternoon I went and listened to the M3200 and the M3300 as well as the C3 at my local store. Of the three, I definitely liked the C3 sound as it's pretty clear (Can definitely tell the difference between 128 kbps mp3 and 320 kbps mp3-- wanted to test with lossless but couldn't, sadly); with good bass, and still within my price range (RM390) but the size of the subwoofer is going to be a problem as my room is rather small... Did not like the M3200 at all, and M3300 is just... meh.

Are there any other Edifier systems with sound comparable to the C3, but less huge? The store guy said that with my listening tastes leaning towards classical and orchestral I could also go for the M3310 but I haven't been able to hear it yet to judge. I only have a budget of RM400 max.

Please help me?

based on the criteria, it's best 4 u to take the c3..
but yes, if ur looking for the smaller sets u can get s330/s330d.
the difference from their characteristics are:
-c3 sounds fuller(good mid), tight bass(low notes very clear) but not fill the overall sound(for me its' good as the sound will balance, but many people said that's weak bass or somethin'), the high using silk tweeter make them warmer(not bright, not too clear, a bit muffled, have less listening fatigue but some said that's not wide or somethin' biggrin.gif )
have a remote control, external amplifier(great but takes space), treble&bass control and of course slightly higher price
-s330, have dragable, loose bass(can fill the sounds, but some ppl don't like it). the mid unfortunately due to the small midrange driver are not too full(well, many ppl don't care about mid anyway. but not me). and the highs are the best here(bright, clear, wide, due to the tweeter with ring around them. but this make the listening fatigue come faster)
it have cool looking volume knob(with blue halo light), don't have treble control(and the sub's volume control is hard to reach), smaller size which don't take space

that's all I know, and ur choice smile.gif
hope it helps.
