Depends what songs from the 80s you're playing. I have a lot of classic rock on my playlists, and the bass is thumping! Also, if your roomie doesn't share your taste in music, well, expect requests to keep things down.

LOL, another Bee Gees fan! Myself, I haven't had any complaints, but mostly because my playlist currently has a lot of New Age, post rock (Sigur Ros and Amiina) and classical/Renaissance polyphony and choral stuff on it for studying. Not much bass there either.

@88fly88-- It depends on whether you have surround sound speakers in the first place I think. If you don't what's the point? Anyway I hear Dolby and THX are $$ spinning gambits....

I've just tried Google's translations with German to English...waaay better than the Babelfish, apparently. Thanks for the tip, now I don't have to go and guess at the translations on my own with a German dictionary. XD Off to test Google Translate with those undecipherable Russian BT sites that want you to register with them first before they let you in on the good stuff.

Haha, saving, saving-- but first must get a good soundcard and DAC! Anyone have good suggestions for those two items for poor people like me on a budget? If want to upgrade speakers again-- eh, wait another 5-7 years or more. No hurry. This Edifier C3 has been in my possession less than 14 days and hasn't even been burned in right; also am still contemplating where to put the satellites for better sound, since current location is convenient for cabling but high above ear level. And my old ATP3 is still going strong after 9 years.

Just asking, bro-- how did you figure out it was the amplifier? Did you take back the whole set to the shop and test?
