for me it all depend on u sayang ur sd or not,muz kan kan put a big scratch on it then only make small scratches to make it look more natural.

I use plastic cutter and knife to weather mine ler... I imagine what would happen if the RX-78-2 went up against the Zaku IIs lol, then those weathering start to appear. LOL

how do you make the darkened burn marks next to the scratches? Also how to make them look natural?

I didn't use any paint for that SD at all. I used Gundam Weathering Marker set and Real Touch Marker. You can get the sets at any hobby shop really, price RM45-50.

I prefer Real Touch over Weathering Marker sometimes, because the weathering marker is very easy to dust off (its liquid when you apply, but you let it dry, it turns to powdah O_O).

I apply the marker then I smudge it in the direction I want with my finger for the darkened 'burn' marks. For those that look like rain stains I use cotton bud as its smaller and finer...

For me, every mark is smudging lol. Some people use air brush also very nice...

This is my technique, I am sure got better ones out there...

Those scratches/cuts/holes all use blades/cutter etc. got people use hot objects to cut the plastic, creating beam saber effect very nice also. (havent tried lol)
