When I first bought the iPhone 3G (AT&T set), the shop in Singapore gave me a turbosim solution that needs to cut a hole on my simcard. I was conned because it works intermittently. When i reached in Malaysia, it does not work at all. Thus, I'm left with an "expensive iPod Touch with camera" for about a month. Recently, I have the courage to use another turbosim solution which does not modify/cut my simcard. It works wonderfully (almost perfect) except at times I cannot receive any calls. Need to reboot if this problem occurs.
I have upgraded and jailbroken the iPhone 3G using pwnage tool. Now its FW 2.1.
However, I'm still waiting for the good news from Dev team (it seems they managed to progress to some level now) for a software unlock.

I asked one shop in LYP which claimed the US set which she got is unlocked version. I asked again - "how do you unlock? Using turbosim?" She answered - "Its a secret" I told her ... "USA set are always locked... how did you unlocked it?" She answered - "cannot tell..."
Hmmm.... Quite "fishy"... If they are not using "turbosim" solution, so, what is their solution? "Soldering...?"

QUOTE(pjastro @ Nov 3 2008, 12:07 AM) You are right. My unit was done this way. No way US set came unlock. Turbosim was inside the unit. What happen when you jailbreak or upgrade the firmware? Will it "brick" you iPhone? I heard the shop recommended any upgrade have to go thru them....
